This is a great book about rock and roll stars from the 60s and 70s some most people have heard of and there is a few that I am sure some may have never heard of. If you have lived through that era you probably have or had older siblings. Depends on the type of music you listened to for me this was an outstanding book. The only drawback was that the Kindle version did not have all of the photos so I cannot speak of those. Otherwise a great book and worth the read.

This book was really interesting! It was put together and formatted extremely well, and really told the story of the period.

I just reviewed Pop Rock Icons by Philippe Margotin. #PopRockIcons #NetGalley This book is for anyone who is a fan of music. The pictures and information is outstanding. Tons of pictures and information of many of the bands we know and love. If you love music or just enjoy music from the 60-70 or like history this book is a must.

“Pop Rock Icons: London’s Swingin’ 60s & 70s” is a pictorial treasure of rare visuals, brilliant antidotes, and unprecedented historical musical documentation of the mid-century British Classic RocK-n-Roll’s VERY BEST painstakingly cataloged by Phillippe Margotin.

From The Beatles, the Stones, Clapton, and to lesser known early artist’s like the self-described “King of Rock and Roll,” Long John Baldry, as well as my personal favorite—and the band that Margotin said smashed onto the scene as Britain’s first metal great, Led Zeppelin.

Whether you agree with Margotin’s assessments, the range and sphere—especially the unbelievable number of unique photographs included make this a book that you will enjoy reading and sharing for years. It’s one of a kind. This will make a great personal treasure, but a gift long appreciated,

JoyReaderGirl1 graciously thanks NetGalley, Author Phillippe Margotin, and Publisher Aurora Metro, Supernova Books for this advanced reader’s copy (ARC).

Starts off with a comparison of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. After that, most bands and artists get one or two pages with mainly photographs. Would be suitable for a music lover of that era.

I was brought up on 60's music as far back as I remember, I was born in 1963.
Every room in the house had music coming from it, my brother was a Cliff Richard fan, my mum and dad liked anything that sounded good.
This book was a goldmine for me of profiles of the soundtrack of my life.
From bands like The Kinks,, the Rolling Stones and The Beatles I learned a lot about these and what kind of impact they had on the 60's, And how they have managed to keep going after all these years, and their fan base
Beautifully written, very insightful with amazing photography, a must for music fans.
I wish they had written more about my favourites The Hollies who I get to see in October!!
This is a book I would never tire of turning to.
Amazing book

A brilliant book, filled with lots of photographs and stories of the British musical icons of the 1960s and 1970s. It packs in so many bands and acts that there just isn’t space to delve into lots of detail, but there are some fabulous photos and the structure of the book grouping the bands by style is excellent. I would love to buy the hardback version of this to keep as a coffee table book.

With thanks to NetGalley and Aurora Metro, Supernova Books for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved all the vintage pictures of bands I grew up with, or my parent grew up with.
I enjoyed the bits of information but my favourite part were the quotes from some of the artists.
I received a copy via NetGalley and all opinions are my own.

Pop Rock Icons is a photographic book that shows a ton of Pop Rock Icons from the 60s and 70s.  I definitely wish I was alive at this time and am tempted to make myself a playlist from a lot of the acts featured in the book - The Beatles and Rolling Stones of course, but also Cat Stevens, Marianne Faithfull, Queen - and more.  It seems like there was just such an amazing and booming music scene during this era and I am sad to have missed out on it!

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.

A iconic look at musicians and artists of the 60s and 70s! Included are wonderfully photos, along with informative text, and quotes. It's fantastically presented and a very enjoyable read which will satisfy any rock fan. I will be recommending this one to my listening.

The only downside was that the book do not convert over to epub/Kindle very well the text was faded and the photos spilt in two and some of the text was in French.

However, this does take away that it a fantastic read.

Highly recommended to rock fans and these how love history of music

Pop Rock Icons is an eclectic selection of photos of the good, the bad and the ugly in the pop and rock world of the 60's and 70's with Petula Clark rubbing shoulders with the likes of John Mayall, Hot Chocolate, The Sweet, Yes, Genesis and Traffic among a host of others.
It's an interesting book to flick through. Some of the text is a little curious which is probably due to its origin as a French language title that has been translated and republished.
