I received this as an audio galley to listen to for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for giving me access.

Typically, I enjoy Finlay's work but this one fell all over the place. The multiple POVs were a little difficult to keep up with as an audio, which kept me from my overall enjoyment. I may have to try this again in physical form. The writing was great, the idea was great, just the audiobook wasn't my cup of tea. However, I did enjoy the narrators.

I do recommend this for my fellow thriller lovers...but as a ebook or physical book.

I loved Alex Finlays first book so I was excited to listen to this one thanks to Macmillan Audio/Netgalley and pretty much listened the first chance I got. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the story. The narrators did a great job, but the whole story to me just felt very disjointed. As a vegetarian I didn’t like all the mention of the cattle prods, or whatever they are called, there was a lot of mentions. And overall, I just felt lost in the story. There is a ton of action which I think a lot of people will like, but this one just wasn’t for me. I think if I read this one it might have been a DNF. But the audio helped me finish it in a few days. I think the only part I enjoyed was the audio narrators. There were 4 different narrators for the different characters and they all performed the story very well. If you are an audio fan I think you should def try this one out on audio.

I've seen some mixed reviews, but I actually enjoyed this book a lot.

Five parentless kids became found family in a group home years ago. Now, twenty-five years later, they are all adults leading very different lives. Most haven't seen each other in years. They are still connected by a secret from their past. And now someone is trying to kill them all. And they decide it's time to find out who and why.

This book was very fast paced. It was very twisted and I always love that. I loved learning about all the characters and where they are in life after the group home. They were an interesting and diverse cast for sure.

Do you need to suspend belief a bit in this one? Yes. But it wasn't hard to do and you will be invested quickly in this story!

Many thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio for both ARC and ALC copies in exchange for my honest review.

Whoa what a ride! This story was so intense and even though it all seemed so far fetched it was so engaging and I couldn’t wait to see what happened. There were some crazy people in this one! I was excited to get to read this one early!

Jenna, Donnie and Nico spent time together in a group home when they were growing up. It’s been years ago, but the three have a dark connection from that time, one that includes two others, but one of the others has just been murdered. Has someone found out about their past? When each of the three have attempts made on their lives, they meet clandestinely at the dilapidated place they despised. The fourth person from their group is now a mega millionaire, but also agrees to meet. Who could possibility want them dead. Each person is not what they seem and Findlay’s newest book is non stop action from start to finish leading us on a merry chase until the very end. Voiced by a whole cast, helped keep the characters separate and easier to keep track of throughout and made the telling of the story that much more enjoyable! Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an ALC of this book.

Loved this audiobook! The story of four friends who met while in a group home. Although they all came to live in the home for different reasons, they became friends and did their best to look out for each other. Between worrying about several of the girls from the home that have gone missing and being terrorized by the son of the man who runs the place, the friends had a pretty miserable existence while they lived there. Years later the friends have all taken different paths in life, but find they are all being hunted down because of something they did while living in the home. Fast paced excellent narration made this book impossible to stop listening to.

BOOK REVIEW- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Thoughts: Thank you to @netgalley, Macmillan Audio, and @alexfinlayauthor for an advanced copy of What Have We Done in exchange for an honest review. HOLY SMOKES- what did I just devour?!?! It has been so long (I'm blaming the 1 year old) since I started a book and HAD to finish it the same day. The narrator did an AMAZING job drawing me in and keeping me engaged the entire time! Everything about this thriller kept me on my seat and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. This was told through multiple POVs and for me, it made the story that much better. As soon as I thought I had a twist figured out, Finlay reminded me that he is a master of twists. I don't want to spoil the story so I can only highly encourage you to pick this one up on March 7th!!! This honestly is my current favorite book I have read this year!

I have never read an Alex Finlay book, I think I have several on my TBR shelf. As I said in one of my previous reviews, I'm still kind of getting into this mystery/thriller type genre. It is definitely intriguing but kind of a little different from my normal path.

I loved the multi-cast production of this audiobook, it gives a little more depth to the story and makes it easier to discern all the different POVs. We have a POV for each of our 3 main characters, plus the killer, and the assassins, but primarily it is the 3 main characters that we hear from.

Isn't it fun that all 5 of the kids that are in this horrible Savior house grew up to be relatively successful? From assassin to senator to rock star and so on. It isn't so lucky that they are all being targeted for an incident they were all part of as kids. The story on the other hand didn't really capture me. I didn't feel connected to the characters, so in turn, I didn't really care much what happened to them. I don't know if it because we are focused on so many people and hop around, so we don't really have time to develop flushed out characters, OR if the characters are unlikeable. I didn't really find even the bad guys that interesting. Which I normally love the bad guys more than the good ones. They were just all kind of bland. Like they wanted personality but were caricatures of what they could be.

I did give this a 3 though, it was ok. The action from scene to scene was pretty good from the very beginning. The story moved along with great pacing and intensity. There was plenty of action and the characters were put in peril plenty of times in such ways you didn't know how they would get out of it. So I suppose it was the action sequences that kept me engaged. I was just disappointed in the characters. It felt like I came into the middle of the story and all their development was already done.

Overall, it was alright, good action sequences. Mild mystery element, no real thriller aspects, though I'm not sure if that's what it's being marketed as.....but with some of what is happening (murder and what not) I'm sure it is.

I'll have to try one of the author's other books to see if this was normal writing or a one off.

I really had high hopes for this book because I read The Night Shift by the same author and really liked it a lot. So maybe this book just didn’t live up to my expectations or something. I just couldn’t really connect with this book for some reason and I don’t know why. Most of it was very confusing to me. It was told in 3 main different POVs, and these characters are connected from when something that occurred when they were kids. Something bad but we don’t know what. It keeps alternating between the 3 MCs about what’s going on in their lives now present day. But none of their stories in present day were that interesting to me. I didn’t feel any real connection to any of the MCs. I didn’t even like them that much. And waiting for the 3 stories to finally connect took Forever!! This book is also told in 3 parts and it wasn’t until part 3 when things actually started to pick up and get a little exciting. And I felt like the end, the twist, was a bit anticlimactic. It didn’t wow me or anything.
So and all, this book was just okay for me. It wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read but it wasn’t the best either. But my review is only how I feel about this. Please don’t let this sway you in a certain way. If you have this on your tbr and want to read this one, then read it for sure. You may love it. It just wasn’t for me personally. It was ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars for me!!

I’d like to thank NetGalley and McMillan Audio for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley for the audio ARC! This was an interesting thriller that took some time to build intrigue. There were too many POVs, some of which could have been trimmed down. The characters needed further development as it felt like some were more fleshed out than others. The “action” scenes were highly engaging and I appreciated those - but they were minimal and most came in the final quarter of the novel. I didn’t pick up on much foreshadowing of the twist, but I wasn’t quite invested enough to really be surprised or anything aside from indifferent.

What a great book. Suspenseful and captivating. Mixture of childhood trauma, assassins, murder twins, mafia- this book has it all! It alternates perspectives between characters and each one's story is equally as intriguing. And the ending! Talk about anxiety. This was my first Alex Finlay book but it definitely will not be my last!

Thank you to NetGalley, Alex Finlay, and MacMillan Audio for this advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Jenna, Donnie and Nico met as teens in a group home called Savior House -- a home for parentless teens. As adults, they've all moved on with their lives and found varying degrees of success. Jenna is a stay at home mom, Nico is a TV producer, and Donnie is a has-been rock star. They don't have much in common anymore, but that's about to change when all three of their lives are threatened. Someone from their past wants them dead. But why!!?? What have they done??

Told in multiple perspectives in a shifting past/present timeline, What Have We Done is a twisty, action-packed, fast-paced thriller. I read the ebook along with the audiobook, and really loved the immersive experience. The audiobook is well narrated by a cast of four talented narrators, which definitely adds to the enjoyment. I appreciated that this kept me guessing the entire time, only revealing all at the end. Overall, this was an enjoyable read.

Thank you Macmillan Audio, St. Martins, and NetGalley for the gifted copies. 💕

Talk about an action-packed thriller!

Twenty-five years ago, Nico, Donnie, Ben, Art and Jenna; foster kids at the time, lived at Savior House with other teens. They did something back then. Something they hoped would never be known. They went their separate ways and made something with their lives. Jenna is married with two stepchildren; Nico is a tv producer, Ben is a federal judge, Artemis is a tech genius, and Donny is a rock star.

When a hired killer comes for them, they must figure out who has set this in motion. They have secrets in their shared past. Does someone know their secret? Who wants them dead? How do they survive?

I found this to be a fast paced, gripping book that kept me on my toes. The book is told through the POVs of Jenna, Nico, and Donnie. I had both the book and audiobook and thought the narrators of the audiobook did a great job and this added to my enjoyment of this mystery/thriller.

Was the OTT? You betcha! But that is one of the things that I enjoyed about this book. It is pure escapism reading.

I look forward to reading more of Finlay's books.

A rock star, a tech billionaire, a former operative, a tv producer and a federal judge. What do they all have in common? Where they started. 25 years ago they all were living in the Savior House trying to survive after life put them in foster care. Through a series of events they all are part of a murder. Now 25 years later they have to fight for not only the truth of who is after them but also to find out why they are all being hunted.

This book is full of twist, turns and oh my gosh the ending was so good. I have never read a book by Alex Finlay but damn. I now have to go back and read everything they have written. This book is told from multiple view points, each of the children from the home and that of the paid assassins. The audio book is done with a full cast. I was able to listen at 1.75-2.0 speed the whole time without missing a beat. The narration is done in such a manner you feel like you are part of the story. If you are wanting a good thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat this books is for you.

What a fantastic production! Loved the big cast to this one- definitely made it more exciting. It was a little difficult keeping track of what was going on with all the different perspectives (print might've been easier to follow), but it was a good read nonetheless.

The characters were so entertaining, especially the two psycho hit-women. I loved the uniqueness of them, something you don't often see, especially in mystery/thriller. It seems like you see the same type of characters over and over, but Finlay definitely broke the mold with this book.

While they didn't always seem realistic, this book was full of twists and turns that had me at the edge of my seat the entire time. I'll definitely be reading more by this author.

Damn, I was looking forward to another Alex Finlay book, but this one did not hit the spot for some reason. May be i had too high expectations? It was hard to follow and i was fazing in nd out. I powered through the book but it was just OK. Sorry

What Have We Done was my first Alex Finlay novel. I am not sure why I waited so long to read this author. I would classify this story as more mystery than thriller but the short chapters and multiple perspectives kept it easy for me to keep reading. I finished this one in no time! .

Alex Finlay is definitely an auto read author for me right now. His newest has an original plot with an extensive cast of characters. So much happens, and there is quite a bit to keep track of (I listened to this one on audio and maybe it would have been a bit easier in print?), but it is so worth the ride. I was on the edge of my seat so many times, and I tore through this audiobook wanting to get answers. I liked the backstory of the characters, and I was content with the way the book ended. I will definitely be checking out more in the future by Finlay!

This was an okay read. I think it might have been better as a book read instead of audio. Too many points of view to keep straight on an audio book.
