Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this audiobook. First off, I loved the narrators. They had different narrators for each main character in the story, which made the book feel like I was listening to a movie. The book itself had a great story line and a twist that I didn't see coming.

This is one of those books that I enjoyed listening too but in the end I gave it a 3.5 because I just could not get behind the level of unbelievability. It was well written and plotted. It held my attention and I wanted to know the ending but there were a few eye rolls while I listened. The cast of narrators chosen for this project were spot on though. Each one did a fantastic job capturing the essence of who each character was and it was easy to keep track of the distinct voices. I liked the simple narration, without the over dramatization that many audiobooks feature. The ending was a good twist but overall this one was enjoyable but still lacking.

Highly engaging, Alex Finlay knows how to write suspense! Twists were well paced and kept me on the edge of my seat.

In this story we have the focus of three main characters. We have Jenna, Nico, and Donnie. All three of these characters knew each other 25 years ago from their time together in a group home called Savior House. Life has pulled these members of the home, as well as others, in several different directions and they have all gone their separate ways. Now, a chain event of tragedies has linked these three characters back together.

Through this time we learn the backstories of Jenna, Nico, and Donnie. We also learn how they are living in their present day lives. How has their past brought them all back together? Will they ever be able to move on?

I highly recommend reading this newest release, especially if you are a fan of action packed thrillers full of excitement! There were times when my anxiety was little high, but that’s what happens when you are kept on the edge of your seat! This is a fast read, and the chapters are nice and short which is a major bonus!

Many thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books, and the author for an ARC of this book. Publication date is: March 07, 2023.

Action packed from the start and never really let up. Kept me listening. Great narrator as well. Will definitely be picking up more Alex Finlay books after reading this one.

I have read or listened to every Alex Finlay book so far. His debut book "Every Last Fear. Is a must read as it was amazing. With that being said, I highly recommend What Have We Done.

In normal Alex Finlay fashion, What Have We Done leads with gruesome murder and then takes you through the events that led up to it and after it. Alex Finlay takes you through the past and present of the individual(s) involved.

At first it was a bit hard to follow all the different characters' perspectives because it was not very clear as to how all of the characters were connected but once you are about 1/4 of the way in, it becomes a lot clearer. When that happens, it makes it much easier to get into the book.

I enjoyed most of the characters in the book but there was in particular that I really struggled with until the very end. It was also this characters supporting characters that I struggled with. I'm not sure if it is because of the individual's lifestyle and career choice or if it was the narrator for me.

The female assassin is one of my favorite characters. You can truly understand where she is coming from and why she is making the choices that she is. You can really feel the strong sense of family bond both marital and friend family throughout the book.

The story itself is written well. It has a lot of twists and turns. The story around Savior House is one of my favorites, which is really the center of the entire book in my opinion.

The narrators Brittany Pressley; James Patrick Cronin; Jon Lindstrom; Maggie Thompson were able to bring life to each character both male and female including that of location accents. I actually didn't realize until looking it up that it had multiple narrators. As I mentioned earlier, I am not sure if it was the way that the narrator read one of the characters that put me off of that character specifically or just the way it was written.

Trigger warnings: orphanage, sexual predator, child murder

Rating: 4 out of 5 because I struggled with the connection between all of the characters at first. Also, because I struggled with one of the characters until near the end. This is a definite recommendation though for me because if you like a good mystery thriller then this is a book that will keep you guessing and going "what?!" until the very end.

I absolutely loved What Have We Done. Kids from a group home grow up to do marvelous things, but are pulled back together when they are pursued by hit women. There’s danger and mystery and action throughout.

Thank you to Netgalley, Alex Finlay and MacMillan audio for providing an audio arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was my third Alex Finlay. And one of my favorites. This took a twist I wasn't expecting but I enjoyed it! Especially those evil twins. Loved that.

As an Alex Finlay fan, I was excited to read this. But this was not my favorite novel by him.

The plot was a bit unrealistic, although I enjoyed reading how the characters' storylines came together.

There were multiple characters and dual timelines to keep track of. I found myself needing to write down character names to remember them. I didn’t feel that these characters were well-developed; ultimately, I found them all very unlikeable.

The pacing of this story felt uneven. The first half of this story was a slow burn, but it took off towards the latter half. The story had a lot going on, and I think it would have worked better pared down.

The audiobook was well narrated. Having several narrators with different voices fit the story and made the story feel like I was listening to a movie.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and was entertained, but I wasn’t wowed.

I did not enjoy the narrator's voice most especially so I found it hard to get through this story. Just for me personally, it got a little too dark but others may enjoy it more.

I’m a huge Alex Finlay fan. Lately I’ve been disappointed by books by authors I have previously loved but not this time. This book was very action packed. Multiple mysteries. Badass women.

Five foster siblings are targets of a hit woman. They’re a judge, a TV producer, a washed up rock star, a tech mogul, and a retired contract killer. All have to come together to figure out who put the hit out on them and why.

My only minor complaints were that there were a lot of character to keep track of which is typically harder on audio. The narrators do a great job which helped but definitely something to consider. Also the twist at the end was a bit underwhelming. I didn’t really see it coming but I was just like oh okay. The final scene though 😳 I was about to riot the last 5 minutes of the book but it was so good.

Ultimately, I’m a fan and think this would make a great show or movie.

If actions what you’re looking for, look no more. This latest creation from Alex Finley is a total thrill ride from start to finish. The story is told from three different points of view. Each perspective is original and kept me engaged. Three long time childhood friends are forced to reunite because someone is trying to kill them. keeping a secret, they proved to be deadly. I can definitely see this as a limited series on Netflix. I loved every over-the-top minute of this, entertaining and intense thriller. The narration added a layer of intrigue and suspense. Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my audiobook.

Thank you to @netgalley and @Stmartinspress for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to @macmillian.audio for a free download of the audiobook.

Five former foster kids are targeted in a series of murder attempts that brings them back to the group home they all came from. They have a secret they thought they buried 25 years ago that may have been discovered.

This was my first book by this author, and I would consider reading another. They story itself didn’t WOW me, but the audio kept me engaged enough to finish.

3.5 stars – Rounding to 4 for Goodreads

Hooked from the beginning! Loved the story line with different characters & timelines intertwining to tell the overall plot. Great thriller that I’ll recommend to all!

Overall, this book fell flat to me. While the writing was creative and descriptive, it was confusing -- especially via audiobook. There were so many characters with little to no character development. I think it would have been helpful to hear more of their backstory before jumping into the present day drama.

I would recommend to those that enjoy heavy plots and thrillers, but tell those that prefer character-development (me!) to stay away!

This story is told through multiple points of view of a group of adults who shared time together in a children’s home, Savior House. Savior House sounds like it should be a safe haven, but young girls who are sent there seem to be disappearing never to be found again. When the children begin to ask questions they find that Savior House holds dark secrets and they are forced to question their morals when they take matters into their own hands to ensure no more girls are taken. When the group home shuts down the children are separated and go on about their own lives trying not to think back on the horrors of Savior House. They are all successful at putting the past behind them until they realize someone is trying to kill them all and they realize Savior House has more secrets than they even knew as children.

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the audiobook of What Have We Done.

I had seen and heard quite a few different reviews for this book, including someone else I follow DNF'ing it. I am not in alignment with that. I really enjoyed this book. The narrators were great and did a wonderful job at giving each character their own "voice".

The book itself follows 3 kids that all met in an orphanage due to varying circumstances. The main focus of this story is following Jenna, Nico, and Donny. All three share a secret of their past that is coming back to haunt them now. Donny's best friend, has been killed and Donny seems to be the next target. All the while new Stay-at-home mom Jenna gets blinded sided and pulled back into a life she worked hard to forget. Nico, a successful tv producer is ambushed on a set of his TV show alone at night! All three of them have tried their hardest to forget what lies in their past but it seems that someone is not letting them... and they are the next targets. Weaving through their own channels and sources for information, all the pieces fall into place. This book was twisty and thrilling to say the least. I was invested and absolutely wanted to know who what when where why!! With MULTIPLE twists, I was left stunned! Great read for any thriller reader.

Happy Reading!

This book hooked me at the beginning. It had a good premise. but it didn't keep my interest. I found my mind wandering during the audiobook. I found myself wandering into tiktok or instareels. and I was hard to stay focused on the topic of this book. It just wasn't for me.
