According to NetGalley, the genre of this book is Women's Fiction, and I have to agree. This book is more Comedy with Romantic bits than a Regency Romance that Suzanne Enoch is known for in the past (I miss those). There wasn't "I love you" until 98%, and a declaration that the main characters are "friends" came around 48%. There wasn't any discussion about romance other than that the main characters began to tolerate each other, which means love. Also, the dog-napping plot line that is zany took the story over and preceded any romance that appears to have happened. The story was outlandished. If one follows the two rules of Romance, that the main characters' Romance is the plot line, this doesn't have it—second, the HEA - We got "I love you," but nothing else.

I received an ARC from St. Martin's Griffin & NetGalley for my honest review.

Michael is The Duke of Woriton. He is a young man who is extremely wealthy, but society makes fun of him. He is a scientist and he is so devoted to his science that he has no time for society. He is known to be abrupt and rude. That is because he is often abrupt and rude.

He loves his Aunt Mary. And when she asks Michael to take care of Lancelot for a month while she travels, he is happy to oblige. Lancelot is a black Standard Poodle. That means Lancelot is a rarity in London.

While walking Lancelot there is an accident. There is another identical black Standard Poodle, and their leads get tangled. The other Poodle is aggressive while Lancelot is mild mannered.

The other Poodle is named Galahad. He belongs to Miss Elizabeth Dockering. Her friends and family call her Bitsy. Bitsy loves Galahad very much. She is the star of the current Season. She is beautiful and charming and everyone wants to be around her and be her friend.

When both dogs are stolen, Bitsy and Michael become a team. They will work together to get the dogs back before something terrible happens to them.

This story is charming and humorous and very entertaining.

Ms Enoch has created characters who are complete people. They have dreams and goals. These are human beings. Everyone is a good hearted person. Well, not everyone. There is a villain. And this villain is a really terrible person.

The plot is original and unusual.

The search for the dogs takes every talent and skill that Bitsy and Michael possess. They must travel into the seediest parts of London. Michael offers a reward. It is in the paper and on signs all over London. And then there is the day people line up to get the reward….like the man who brings a black “doodler” – that is a rooster who cock-a- doodle doos for a living.

I liked this book very much. It is fun and enjoyable read. It is just what I expect when I read a book by Ms Enoch.

I received this book from the publisher in the hope of a fair and honest review. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are completely my own.

Every Duke Has His Day was cute! But also a bit silly for my liking. The premise started out really compelling with the dog mixup and the dognapping but it just seemed to go on and on. I would have liked more time with the characters really getting to know each other to feel like they really fell in love.

Suzanne Enoch always gives strong, developed stories--this one is wonderful AND it has humor! I read angsty historical romance every now and then, but my catnip is grump/sunshine, and this story is perfect for that.

Michael, Duke of Woriton, is an eccentric scientist duke, and Bitsy, a diamond of the toń, come together in the cutest way--definitely a meet-cute! There's a fall in the Serpentine, crazy dogs, and an accidental dog swap! This is legit the type of romance I love. Smart, stern dukes are my kryponite, and whoa, is Michael a perfect example. And normally I'm not fond of the toń "darling" as a heroine, but there was so much more to Bitsy than I thought in the beginning. She didn't truly sparkle until Michael brings out her intelligence and fire. That's what made the romance realistic to me. I love their sparring and their assumptions being completely wrong about each other.

Overall, this book was an absolute delight. If you love stern, daddy dukes as your heroes, and tons of fun and laughter in your historical romances, this is seriously the book for you.

**A huge thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Publishing for a copy of this book to read and review for my own opinions**

✨️ ARC Review ✨️

Did I just enjoy a historical romance? Yes, yes I did. "Every Duke Has His Day" by Suzanne Enoch is the story of Michael Bromley, a duke considered eccentric by the ton because of his interests, and Elizabeth Dockering, the charismatic Diamond of the Season. They couldn't be more different. But when their dogs get mixed up in a chaotic encounter in the park, Lancelot (Michael's dog) gets kidnapped from Miss Dockering's home.

But that's not all, both dogs go missing and now they must team up in order to rescue the poodles. With each passing day they become closer and love begins to bloom.

Now, on to my thoughts.
I actually enjoyed this story. I would have never imagined that two dogs could kickstart a historical romance but it worked. I loved how slowly the two main characters start to develop feelings for each other and the ending was perfect. I did wish for a bit more secrecy when it comes to who was responsible for the missing dogs, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment. Overall, it's a fun, cute and quick read that I recommend for any fan of a slow burn.

Lastly, this book comes out on September 19, 2023 so make sure to check it out!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Huge thanks to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the ARC in exchange of my honest opinion.

Dogs and dukes equal trouble!

Enoch has done it again. Written another zany romance! Perfect! Humorous, ironically witty and just plain good fun!
When the eccentric Michael Bromley, the Duke of Woriton, an absent minded scientist agrees, or rather has his Aunt Mary’s poodle Lancelot foisted upon him, he little knows it will change his life.
It starts with Michael ending up in a pond in Hyde Park entangled in dog leads. That of Lancelot, and heiress Miss Elizabeth Dockering, Bitsey’s identical poodle Galahad.
Not only that, Woriton finds himself in the middle of a dog napping caper!
Further complications happen when the wrong dog is nabbed! Talk about chaos and missed moments.
Elizabeth refers to Michael as “Lord Steely-Eyed Logic.” She has come to appreciate his scientific endeavours. So worthy! Meanwhile Michael, and even more his household, love that Elizabeth has dragged Woriton out of his study and into life!
We’re introduced to the misguided but kindly dog napper Jimmy Blys, and his would be lady Sally Pangle. Both of whom we come to adore. Sally works with a travelling fair. She performs with a troupe of dogs.
There’s some delicious lines between these covers, adding to the delight.
A romance with a very delightful plot! I enjoyed this immensely!

Michael Bromley, Duke of Woriton, is a scientific minded borderline recluse who prefers his experiments to the society goings-on in the ton. Bitsy Dockering is the diamond of the Season. When Michael, while dogsitting for his aunt, and Bitsy get their dogs tangled up in the park, they set off a string of wild events including an accidental dog swap, a dog napping, and falling in love.

The slow burn of this book was impeccable. I genuinely felt them falling in love slowly without either of them even really understanding it. The sweetness of it made it impossible not to root for them—both in their efforts to recover their dogs and in their love.

Sometimes, the POV switches messed with the flow for me. I would get so into their momentum and story and it was jarring to be ripped out of it and sent to the other suitor, or Jimmy (the very precious dognapper in question) and his own love story with Sally. I even fully rooted for the side romance of Jimmy and Sally. In the end, although I love both love stories, it was just hard to constantly go back and forth between completely separate romances that could have each had their own books also mixed in with POVs of a couple people who weren’t a part of either couple.

I loved it despite the sometimes confusing POVs and if you don’t mind multiple POVS and love a sweet regency era romance, dogs, and prefer regency-appropriate kisses to full on spice, then this is definitely the book for you!

This book took me far longer to read than it should have due to my pet's antics. I found my cat hanging from the chandelier panic-inducing enough. No dog-napping was required. In any case, the furry critters are well worth checking this book out for, and their owners as well.

Suzanne is a mistress of sweet romantic comedy, and this book is a genre highlight. There were more than a few laugh-out-loud moments for me. The cast is well-played, especially Huston (Michael's long-suffering butler). Peter is the discordant note among the characters, and that helps to highlight his villainy. The fur babies steal the show, though.

I enjoyed watching Michael and Bitsy's romance bloom as they scampered around London searching for the missing dogs. Watching them realize their first impressions were incorrect was highly entertaining. Michael was not the stodgy curmudgeon society labeled him, and Bitsy isn't a flighty nitwit. Watching them dance around each other as they realized that had me giggling.

Jimmy and Sally were a fun side-pairing. It is unusual for supporting pairs to be from the lower class, but it is an excellent change from the norm. Seeing the difference in outlook between the two couples made an interesting contrast. As the number of dogs around them increased, the chaos in their lives was fun to watch.

Lancelot, Galahad, Pickle, Bob, and Jenny were all highly amusing in their unique ways. I loved seeing animals highlighted in a novel. I can't remember the last one with such prominent animal characters outside the fantasy genre. Their antics kept me smiling through to the end.

I highly recommend picking this book up for a light-hearted, sweet romantic comedy. This book was a delightful change of pace from the typical skirt-chasing male lead and was everything I expected from a Suzanne Enoch book.

Every Duke Has His Days is such a fun Regency rom-com with a splash of cozy mystery. I loved Bitsy and Michael, they had great banter and the meet cute reminded me of 101 Dalmatians. Jimmy and Sally brought so much to the story as well, I was equally invested in them. Everyone gets an hea and you're left feeling warm and fuzzy. Definitely recommend.

"Brain meets Beauty in this sparkling, fresh take on the classic Bringing Up Baby – if Jane Austen had written it! A romantic comedy with a dash of chaos featuring the most ill-behaved poodle in Regency London,"
I felt like I had previously read this book because of the two Poodles. Maybe it's just similar to another book.

Elizabeth and Michael’s poodles get switched during an accident at the park. When the wrong dog is dog napped they band together to rescue the dog and fall in love in the process.

This book was sweet. It just didn’t have “enough” for me. There was too much of a focus on the bad guy and the secondary characters that didn’t interest me. I wanted to see more of Elizabeth and Michael falling in love. Also as a dog lover, I didn’t love all the talk about kidnapping and hurting the dogs. SPOILER: ALL THE DOGS REMAINED SAFE AND LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

And FYI There is no spice in this book.

Thank you NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for the ARC.

Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch is utterly adorable! I absolutely loved the dogs. I loved them so much I googled poodle rescues. The side characters are awesome too. From our dry butler to our big hearted dog thief, everyone is adding to the story. Our main characters are loveable too! The romance is swoony (while PG)! Of course, the villain is terrible and how could Bitsy even consider hime!? The novel has various points of view which is great for understanding the characters and their motivations. This was an utterly enjoyable and fun read! Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for this eARC! Opinions are my own.

Super cute!

Anything with dogs is usually a hit for me. And the dogs in this were super precious.

I loved how each character was falling for the other without the other even realizing it. The MMC was hard to love at first, but once you got to know his quirks, he was great.

I loved the little banter and “rudeness” they had found on. Overall a great little Regency rom-com.

A cute historical romance with a little dognapping included. Michael Bromsley, Duke of Woriton is grumpy and eccentric. He wants to be left alone to study electricity. His aunt leaves him with her pet poodle Lancelot while she travels. Elizabeth (Bitsy) Dockering is 19 and in her second season. She has an especially ardent suitor who loathes her devilish poodle Galahad. When both dogs go missing Michael and Elizabeth are brought together to find their pets.

This is a clean romance with kissing only and it is fun to see the pair get to know each other. To me, Michael is the more interesting character with his interests. She comes off as young and concerned about her dog. This is as fluffy of a read as the cover makes it look. There is even a side romance in the book. You’ll enjoy the book all the more if you’re a dog lover.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review. (3,5 Stars)

Amusing, very clean romcom. Great banter between Elizabeth and Michael, and the secondary character romance was also lovely. I don't normally love being pulled into the villain's POV or really POV beyond the main characters, but here the multiple POV worked really well. And as a poodle owner myself, I love the poodle aspect.

4 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for a complimentary ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

This was just the cutest and funniest historical romance. The vibes are 101 dalmatians mixed with historical aesthetics. When a Duke/scientist meets Bitsy, a little mix up of pups leads to a wonderful love story!

Great book for lovers of historical romance. Well written. Great banter. Funny secondary characters. Good character development and arc.

Thank you NetGalley for ARC of this novel; all opinions are my own.

Wonderfully witty and funny story that dog lovers will enjoy. Polar opposites are attracted to each other and come to an equilibrium. A secondary love story that is just as endearing. Impertinent staff that will make you laugh with their quips. A dastardly villain who meets justice to satisfaction. And who can resist a canine HEA.

I received an ARC from Netgalley and leaving my review voluntarily.
