I enjoyed this one so so very much that I’m not entirely sure how to even word this review 😍
* I love getting into a series but sometimes a one and only is just what I need
Regency setting
* a case of mistaken identity, with poodles
* opposites attract; a duke who hasn’t much interest in society and a lady who is one of the Season’s brightest diamonds -
* slow burn
None of my little list can describe the joy I had in reading this wonderfully fun and charming novel.
I utterly loved this story ❤️and it’s an absolute recommendation!
Thank you to St. Martin’s Griffin and NetGalley for the DRC!
What a lovely screwball comedy (but in book form)! I loved the characters especially Jenny the circus performer. If you like movies like Bringing Up Baby, then this books is for you.
This book has made it's way to my favorites! The story follows Michael and Elizabeth who get tangled together after a rather unpleasant encounter in the park due to their poodles. Michael Bromly, the Duke of Woriton, doesn't care much about society and is a scientist who spends his time locked in his study. Elizabeth "Bitsy" Docking is the diamond of the ton and cares about society and being involved with the ton. Michael promises to watch over his Aunt Mary's poodle, Lancelot, while she travels to visit one of her friends. While Michael is on a walk at the park he runs into Elizabeth, more specifically her poodle, Galahad. After their encounter they each return home annoyed at the other, only to discover that they have switched dogs. Michael and Elizabeth plan to return their prospective dogs to one another but then Lancelot is kidnapped instead of Galahad. The Duke and the Diamond come together to rescue Lancelot but with their new found proximity they realize that there's more to what meets the eye.
This was a forced proximity, enemies to lovers, opposite attract, and slowburn romance and I loved every moment of it. There is also a second romance with secondary characters that was amazing to see develop. Suzanne Enoch did a splendid job writing a light-hearted read full of humor, swoon worthy moments, and amazing character development. I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys the Regency Era.
This regency romance is so amazingly good. I adore Suzanne Enoch's books and have for years. This book was absolutely in my top 5 favorite romance books this year!!!

What a fantastic little piece of escape this novel is. The Duke of Woriton and Miss Elizabeth DocKeri nag become entangled when their black poodles go missing. This whole book involves them searching for these dogs, and it is a treat. The cast of secondary character is delightful. I never thought I would fly through a book about two lost dogs,.
Bonus points for this being a very clean romantic comedy.
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC.
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this arc! If you enjoy anything regency this book is for you. I didn't hate nor love this book but think others would enjoy it. Lancelot the poodle was a treat!
This book offers a lot of twists and turns that keep you engaged throughout. Character development was well thought out and they were very likable. The story offers humor, mystery and romance. Plus there is a little side story with poodles.
4/5 stars
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!
3.5/5 stars.
As an avid Suzanne Enoch fan, I was super excited to receive an ARC of this book. While it was a good, cute read, unfortunately this book didn’t quite do it for me in the way that her other books have.
While I found the basic premise super cute and really liked the concept of having Elizabeth and Michael come together to solve the mystery of who kidnapped their beloved pets, I felt that this book did sacrifice a bit of the romance in order to devote itself to the plot. While that isn’t always a bad thing, and while I appreciated getting to know the other characters, I felt that the constant switches to Jim, Sally and Peter’s points of view detracted from the main romance, and I wasn’t quite rooting for Elizabeth and Michael the way I rooted for Enoch’s other romance couples.
This isn’t to say I didn’t appreciate Michael and Elizabeth at all – I did! I loved how well they understood each other and how well they balanced each other; he came out of his shell and she was able to indulge in scientific curiosity and being more than the diamond of the season.
I also did appreciate the perspectives of these side characters! Jim and Sally were a great addition to the book, even if I think a lot of their story could have made a really cute novella instead of taking up the book’s pages. The epilogue was also adorable (puppies!!).
Overall, while not Suzanne Enoch’s strongest romance, this book was sweet and made for a nice, quick read to pass the time. If you enjoy canine shenanigans and a couple who joins together to solve a dognapping, only to fall in love along the way, you’ll love this one.
I love a good romance starring a dog or two. The main characters were interesting and not so stereotypical for a historical romance. I also loved the secondary love story between the dognapper and a dog trainer. A quick and fun read for sure.
Elizabeth is the diamond of the season. She loves the balls, outings, being with friends. Michael is the opposite, loves to be by himself with his beloved science. One day, while Michael is watching his aunts poodle, there is a mishap with Elizabeth’s poodle that entangles and forces them work together to resolve. After a few times, working together is no longer forced but enjoyable and even sought out.
I loved this book! The character development and dialogue were perfect, I could have done with a little more steam but I also appreciate reading something funny and romantic that isn’t deemed “smut” which is hard to find these days!
Romance, dogs, and an investigation? What more do I need? This was such a fun read. I enjoyed the chemistry between Michael and Elizabeth. I thought the character development for all the characters was well done. Jimmy and Sally were surprisingly adorable! I’d definitely read another book by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
A truly unique and engaging tale involving a popular diamond of society, an eccentric scientifically minded hero and a whole lot of dogs. I loved this. Bitsy and Michael are thrown together by chance because their dogs get into a tussle in the park. They are incapable and annoy each other, but also find each other oddly intriguing. The plot, the slow development of the relationship, the mutual bending to each other's interests, the pacing, the various POV's, I devoured this essentially. I enjoyed Suzanne Enoch's previous regency story and with this she solidifies herself as a must read for me. I also enjoyed Jimmy and Sally as a side plot. I received an ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for an honest review
These Two characters are nothing alike she’s a young debutant he’s a Duke and a serious scientist. They are bought together by a certain circumstance which makes this cute and charming regency romance. I really enjoyed reading this thank you netgalley
Cute book.
The main couple interactions are very engaging and interesting, and loved how one complemented the other. Their conversations were engaging and I had lots of fun reading them, I disliked the second couple though, and could do without their storyline which took quite a bit of space.
Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch is a captivating and delightful tale that will leave readers yearning for more. The novel presents a fresh and sparkling twist on the classic Bringing Up Baby, with a touch of Jane Austen's wit and charm. Set in Regency London, the story follows the eccentric Duke of Woriton, Michael Bromley, whose true passion lies in the science of chemistry. While he may be socially adept and capable of navigating the ballrooms with ease, his life takes an unexpected turn when he is entrusted with his aunt's perfectly behaved poodle, Lancelot.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth "Bitsy" Dockering, a popular and adored Diamond of the Season, finds herself dealing with her mischievous black poodle, Galahad, who seems to create chaos wherever he goes. To complicate matters, Bitsy's persistent suitor, desperate to win her affections, hires a thief to steal Galahad, hoping to eliminate the competition.
However, fate has other plans in store when a chaotic encounter in the park leads to lost notes, an accidental dog swap, and Lancelot being kidnapped instead of Galahad. Determined to locate the missing poodle, Michael reluctantly joins forces with Bitsy, who surprises him with her intelligence and sharp tongue.
Suzanne Enoch masterfully weaves a tale filled with humor, romance, and unexpected chemistry between the two protagonists. The story is engaging from beginning to end, with each chapter leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next twist in the plot. Enoch's skillful storytelling and vibrant characters bring the Regency era to life, creating a delightful and enchanting reading experience. Every Duke Has His Day is a delightful romantic comedy that will leave readers thoroughly entertained and craving more of Enoch's captivating narratives.
Great regency fun and fresh , entertaining, the main characters were fun to read , the whole plot was nice and well developed. Definitely a good refresher
I really enjoyed this book - Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch. This is a sweet historical romance featuring a scientist duke with no time for frivolities (i.e. everyone and everything outside his lab) and a debutante who has perfected the art of seeming airheaded (after all, that's what women should be). When their paths - and dogs - cross, they both find that they are more than what they'd previously thought.
I thought that this was a very interesting book - there are at least five point-of-view characters, which is unusual. There is also a secondary romance subplot featuring a dog-napper and a circus performer!
This is a clean romance - the main couple embraces at the end. I usually like books with higher heat, but I didn't even notice the lack until nearly the end of the book. The chemistry feels very authentic between the main couple, as well as their reluctances.
I would recommend this book and will read more from Suzanne Enoch!
Michael, The Duke Of Woriton is not about socializing and silly rules of etiquette. He's too busy working on his science experiments and doesn't care what anybody thinks about him. Then he meets Elizabeth after their poodles get mixed up at the park. And then the story unfolds....
Also really enjoyed the side characters Jimmy and Sally. They could totally have a book of their own. Sequel perhaps?
I loved this story, fell in love with Michael and Elizabeth, had many lol moments. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys romance or regency romance!
Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch is a delightful historical romance novel that will leave readers feeling warm and fuzzy inside. The book tells the story of Michael Bromley, a duke who is determined to find a wife and settle down, and his unlikely partner in crime, Miss Sophie White.
Enoch's writing is engaging, and her characters are well-developed and likable. Michael and Sophie's chemistry is palpable, and readers will find themselves rooting for them from the very beginning. The addition of an ill-behaved poodle adds a touch of chaos to the story, making it all the more enjoyable.
Overall, Every Duke Has His Day is a heartwarming romance novel that fans of the genre are sure to love. Enoch's writing is great, and her characters are both lovable and relatable. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and engaging read.

I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley for review. My opinions are my own.
5/5 stars
What a fun, quick read! Enjoyed every minute.
Elizabeth (Bitsy) has a poorly behaved black poodle named Galahad that she loves, who unfortunately doesn’t love her suitor, Peter. Michael is watching his aunt’s black poodle, Lancelot. In a crazy mixup, the poodles are swapped.
Peter hires a man to kidnap Galahad, but unknowingly kidnaps Lancelot. Peter, an eccentric scientist and Duke, soon realizes he is in possession of Galahad, pushing Bitsy and Peter together. Then, Galahad is also kidnapped.
This book chronicles Bitsy and Peter’s search for the two poodles and eventual realization that they have fallen in love.
Clean regency romance.
