This was such a precious, sweet and fun historical romance! The characters were endearing and I loved to read how their romance progressed. Thanks SMP and Netgalley for my copy.
The premise of the story was a cute idea and I did enjoy the friendship between Bitsy and Michael - their dialogue and the scenes when they were together were well written.
Unfortunately, this book was not one that held my attention all the way through. I found myself skimming over large chunks of the storyline of side characters to get to the pieces that were about the main characters.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
I loved this book! I had the best time reading it! I think that Suzanne Enoch really writes some of the cutest romances ever! I mean I’ve only read one other book, and it was a novella, but I loved both! I loved the mystery aspect, the finding and looking for clues, it really made this more interesting and it kept my attention the whole book! I highly recommend this book, I loved the mystery aspect, I loved the wandering around looking for clues, and I thought the plot was so well done and kept me entertained and invested in the book! I felt that the writing was fantastic, Enoch is such a fantastic writer, and I find myself falling into her words and getting absorbed in her creations! This really makes me want to read more of her work! I cannot wait to do that! Highly recommend this book again!
This was a fun Regency rom-com read.
💘 Historical romance
💘 Sunshine x grumpy
💘 Opposites attract
💘 HEA for all (humans and dogs!)
Still not a fan of the long chapters, but the story was so cute it was a fun read. I’ll admit I do sometimes have issues with period pieces/ historical romances, but this one had me captivated! It felt like the love story between the humans in 101 Dalmatians. The way it revolved around the dogs made my heart so happy.. even if there was some trouble along the way.
If you’re like me and steer away from this type of book, let me tell you it’s a definitely read! You’ll enjoy it more than you think.
Thanks so much NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC.

Michael Blumley, Duke of Loriton, much prefers science to the company of people. When he quite literally runs into Elizabeth Dockering and her poodle at Hyde Park, he hopes to never have to see her again. Elizabeth's suitor does not get along with her dog, and hires a dognaper to solve his problems and take Galahad away. Little does he know that Elizabeth and Michael accidently switched dogs at the park and were planning to switch back the next day. Michael reluctantly allows Elizabeth to help him get his dog back, before his Aunt returns to collect him.
This was a cute read, but it wasn't anything extremely memorable in my opinion. This is told in multiple POVs, being Elizabeth (Bitzy), Michael and Jimmy Blythe, the dognaper, which I thought helped push the story along. I did like Bitzy and Michael as characters, and their opposites attract, slow-burn romance was sweet. I did think their chemistry was well done and they balanced each other out fairly well. I do love a good grumpy x sunshine pairing, so this was a lot of fun. If you're not into high spice levels, this is the book for you, with only the occasional kiss. I liked Bitzy and her quick wit and how she put Michael in his place when needed. Also big fan of the romance that ensues between Jimmy and his next door neighbour, Sally. The redemption arc that Jimmy went on was also great. Peter was a character you loved to hate, and it was funny watching all his plans repeatedly not go the way he wanted them to.
Every Duke Has His Day is a historical romance that is a bit silly and quirky. It didn’t quite work for me. I think it dragged a bit and could’ve been better as a short story or possibly a novella.
Oh the shenanigans of mistaken identity...
Elizabeth is a diamond of society, always with the perfect response to her bevy of suitors. Michael eschews society for his experiments and worthwhile conversations and figures. But when they switch dogs and then his dog is stolen from her home, they are brought together to rescue the poor thing (no dogs were harmed, don't worry).
Now, Elizabeth speaks with someone who she doesn't have rehearsed answers and Michael actually notices and cares about how someone feels. Neither are prepared to handle someone unlike anyone else they've met and surprise them with new feelings.
I really enjoyed seeing our leads encounter something new in each other and be a bit baffled by themselves. With new people come new emotions they are not prepared for. They challenge each other to imagine themselves differently and see in each other things the greater world doesn't. They quickly become close, wanting to share their accomplishments and understanding what the other needs in a way no one else had. And they can definitely keep each other interested for many years.
I love "man not understanding he adores a woman but acting like a total simp" and this book definitely had that, just as it had "woman who can run circles around everyone meets her match and is secretly delighted by it (especially because he sees her as brilliantly intelligent while others just see her appearance)."
Special recognition to our dog-napper because, while her suitor sucked, he wasn't half bad and it made the book a fun adventure with some cute and funny moments all around.
As always, we hate a gaslighter and love when our girls stand up for themselves!
Overall, this was fun, engaging, hilarious, and heartwarming! The adventure was light so it was a cute book (not a dark, moody historical). I really enjoyed reading it and had a smile on my face for most of it.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review!
Feat: opposites attract (but same where it matters), "oh yeah you're pretty but also so smart", enters society just to see her, both obsessed with each other, recluse learns the world can be fun, they challenge each other, regency romance

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
Unfortunately, this was not my cup of tea. I really struggled to get through this book. It was an interesting premise, however it just felt like the book was more about the 'dog-napping' rather than romance. Quite frankly, it was very boring and often put me to sleep.
Absolutely adore this author! I’m a sucker for the opposites attract and the grumpy sunshine trope and this was a shining example. I love Michael and Bitsy’s meet-cute and while these two don’t seem to fit at first they are truly a perfect match. This book is so heartwarming and incredibly delightful. Both characters are likable and it was just an easy read I will revisit! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Historical romance that gives off pure Hallmark movie vibes are a constant need for my shelf. They’re pure palate cleansers to contrast with real life. “Every Duke Has His Day” precisely fit the bill for me! A quick, cute romance with a side helping of mystery made for an enjoyable read.
Michael and Bitsy are polar opposites in 19th century London’s high society: he’s a duke who’s more concerned with scientific advancement than the frivolity of the ton and she’s a social butterfly that’s caught the eye of every eligible bachelor in the city. A case of mistaken identity, a subsequent dog-napping, and a bit of sleuthing unexpectedly leads them into the sweetest kind of romance.
I found myself enjoying this story far more than I expected. It’s a simple kind of love story cute and quick. We already know our couple will end up together, but the fun lies in how we get there. The mystery they solve together isn’t quite as mysterious for us readers and feels a bit more predictable than most, but it’s expected. We’re in Hallmark-esque territory. Simple and to the point!
Highly recommend for those who love an easy historical romance.

Michael Blumley is the Duke of Loriton. He is not interested in any type of Society outings or forays. What he wants is his to focus his time on his science projects with electricity and hydrogen experiments. Michael is a loving nephew. He agrees to care for and walk for his aunt’s dog Lancelot. He is that “absent-minded professor” as a the first day he was walking Lancelot he walked right into a pond.
Elizabeth Dockering aka ”Bitsy” is a lovely debutante who is spending another season in London. She has a dog names Galahad. It so happens that during Michael and Lancelot’s first walk he meets Bitsy and Galahad. Both Lancelot and Galahad are both black poodles. The end being mixed up and each goes home with the wrong owner. Michael ends up realizing he had the wrong dog. He heads over to Bitsy’s to return Galahad and get Lancelot but Lancelot has been kidnapped.
Michael and Bitsy end up working together to get Lancelot back.. As the two of them get to know each other, Michael realizes Bitsy is smarter then she appears.
The story of the two them looking for Lancelot is just funny and chaotic. They both end up realizing that their may be more to their relationship then they they were expecting. Will they find Lancelot and will they go from friends to lovers?
I enjoyed this historical comedic romance. The story is filled with sweet characters that are amusing and colorful plus it is a delightful read.

I simply adored this quick, fun Regency romp. It was a rom-com with a twisty dognapping mystery. I zipped through the pages fairly quickly. Bitsy and Michael were great, as were their dogs, Gallagher and Lancelot.
The cover is as witty and sparkling as the book.
Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.
What a super cute book! It is the first that I have read by Suzanne Enoch and I can’t wait to check out her other books!
Elizabeth “Bitsy: Dockering is a 19 year old socialite who had her fair share of suitors. The main suitor being Peter Cordray who has serious issues with Bitsy’s dog, a black poodle named Galahad. Galahad just does not like anything about Peter and his disdain makes Bitsy leery about the possible courtship/marriage. Michael Bromsley (Duke of Loriton) is a 28 year old scientist who is not a social person at all. He would rather work on his experiments any day of the week. His Aunt is going out of town and asks him to watch her dog Lancelot (who is also a black poodle).
Michael & Elizabeth have a chaotic run-in at the dog park. In all of the commotion, they end up accidentally swapping dogs. Little do they know that Peter has made plans to dog-nap Galahad and Lancelot is the one stolen instead. Michael & Elizabeth work together to find the dogs and who was responsible for the theft and bring them to justice.
There are lots of twists and turns in this book. I really enjoyed the story itself but I feel like we really didn’t get to know much about the person that Elizabeth was. I thought that Michael was a great character and maybe it was because he was older of the two and more mature?
This was a quick, fun book to read. Not my typical genre but very enjoyable. I did really enjoy the connection between Michael & Elizabeth! I found myself laughing throughout the book.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!!
This is a silly little book about dogs and waltzes and science and i loved it!!!
The setting is a regency romcom, which is a personal favorite. The trope of mixing up the dogs was also so so fun and something I personally haven’t read!
The characters are also such a good mix of opposites and they’re sparks together are so well written i adored them!
Additionally i love jimmy and sally and the three dogs carnival troupe
Super fun rom-com! Loved the take on regency romance that this book had brought in a fun fresh twist to an already well-loved romance book time period! I loved the fun mystery that this book had and how low-stakes and lighthearted it read! The story developed at a nice pace and really meshed well with the character’s personalities. Thoroughly enjoyed the characters in this book, I thought they were well-developed and really easy to connect to right from the start. I found myself laughing at so many fun and cute moments that this book contained! Definitely recommend reading this book if you enjoy and fun and laughter-filled Regency rom-com!
I love a good period piece - especially in the drought of new Bridgerton seasons! I liked that this wasn't just romance but rom-com and had more elements.
Michael Bromsley, Duke of Woriton, is not interested in the ton or any of its endless gatherings and parties. He would much rather spend his time conducting scientific research in the field of electricity. When his aunt leaves for her travels, he is entrusted with the care of her dog, Lancelot. Elizabeth is the daughter of a viscount and adored by the ton. She has a black poodle which she cherishes, Galahad. But it seems only Elizabeth is taken in by its charms, because everyone else sees Galahad as a terror. Being the Diamond of the Ton, Elizabeth is entertaining many suitors, and one particular suitor absolutely cannot stand Galahad and plots to have him kidnapped. Michael and Elizabeth encounter each other one day with their respective dogs, and the kidnapping takes place. Only by mistake, Lancelot is taken instead. Ultimately, both dogs go missing, and Michael and Elizabeth work together to find the missing canines and their abductors and in the process, sparks begin to fly and love blossoms.
A zany, crazy and fun Regency story with a little mystery woven in! Definitely a unique and different type of story, but so much fun to read. I was smiling and laughing all the way through. With charming and endearing characters and a well-written storyline, this book was such a pleasure to read. So glad to have had the opportunity to read this!
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing a complimentary copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.
I received an advanced reader's copy of Every Duke Has His day by Suzanne Enoch from NetGalley and the publisher.
I loved the couple Michael Blumley, Duke of Loriton and Elizabeth “Bitsy” Dockering in this book. The dognapping brought them together enabling them to get to know each other beyond what they'd assumed about the other. They respected each other and acknowledged when one was better suited to a task.
I liked that Cordray, the villain of the story, was given a strong motivation for the things he did. I also liked the secondary story involving Jimmy Bly.
This was an entertaining and charming romance.
