Never Wager with a Wallflower by Virginia Heath is a wonderful conclusion to The Merriwell Sisters series. Venus Merriwell, the youngest sister, meets her match in Galahad Sinclair. Once again Virginia Heath has ended another series with a fabulous book. Never Wager with a Wallflower is everything that I have come to expect from Virginia Heath and so much more. A believable romance, witty dialogue, situational challenges and heart touching moments made Never Wager with a Wallflower my favorite book in the series, though all were fabulous.

I will admit I had real concerns about the likability of both of the main characters coming into the book. They meet in a dramatic way in book 2 but I shouldn't have worried at all. The youngest Merriwell Sister, Venus, was a little petulant in books 1 & 2 as befitted the youngest sister and I had a hard time picturing how she would turn out as the heroine of her own book. Both Venus and her hero turned out to be just perfect. I loved the interactions between Venus and Galahad. They share troubled childhoods and their path to happily-ever-after is strewn with troublesome but well meaning relatives and friends. It was great to see the characters returning from previous books and was such an entertaining read. Some of my favorite things about this book were Galahad's interactions with Venus and her orphans. The attraction between the hero and heroine was believable and the ultimate conclusion was satisfying.

Virginia Heath always delivers memorable characters, enjoyable dialogue and entertaining situations. Highly recommend The Merriwell Sisters series to fans of happily-ever-after.

Virginia Heath never misses!

I’ve loved this series since reading the first books as ARCs and was so excited to get this one as well. Venus might be my favorite sister to boot and I loved finally getting to hear her story.

And so the Merriwell Sisters series ends with a happily every after for everyone. Just like the first two books, Venus and Galahad's book is light, fluffy and fun to read. However, this one was a little quieter than the first two. There's a little less plot and a little less repartee, but still this was an enjoyable read.

Never Wager With A Wallflower is the final book in the linked standalone historical romcom series the Merriwell Sisters. I absolutely adored this series, each book swept you up into the world with this beloved cast of characters, yes the main couple and issue in each was different - but I loved the continuous secondary cast.

As with each book, this one delivered plenty of banter, wit and heart. I loved our mains, Vee and Gal, each had a great backstory and personality - I especially loved peeling back the layers on Gal. The interactions between Gal and Vee were great - the card game in particular was fun.

As always the unconventional family dynamic was wonderful and I love a glimpse of past characters. The new supporting characters in the form of the likes of Tommy and Billy was great too.

While I did frustrated with one of our mains in their stubbornness at points, it was not unexpected. Vee and Gal crossed paths in a previous book in a way that promised this one would be an interesting read and it was - this is definitely of the enemies, to reluctantly civil family acquaintances, to enemies to lovers route. In the end though, things come to a very satisfying conclusion. Definitely recommend this story and the others in the series too!

I love the authors style of writing. It’s historical but flows easily. The banter between the characters is witty and keeps you engrossed in the story. It’s a slow burn with a few spicy scenes, but nothing you can’t skim over if spicy isn’t your thing. Vee and Gal have great chemistry, but both have to get over insecurities and past hurts. If you like a historical rom com I highly recommend.
A fun conclusion to the Merriwell Sisters' Series. This enemies-to-lovers regency romcom has a great mix of witty banter and slow burn angsty vibes. The epilogue was the icing on top of the cake. I loved it!

Never Wager with a Wallflower is the final book in the Merriwell Sisters trilogy and it makes for a cracking finale - I absolutely adored it. I found both Gal and Vee lovable and endearing and having read the previous two books in this series I loved seeing their growth from the first time we met them to their own book, though this can definitely be read as a standalone. I found their banter brilliant but then you can't read a Virginia Heath book and not have spectacular banter that had you laughing out loud, especially when the secondary characters join the fray. I can highly recommend both this book and the series if you've not read the previous two books.

Never Wager with a Wallflower was a delightful historical Romance. I love a smart independent heroine. I love even more when there is a hero that encourages her to be both.

This book has strong characters, a fun plot, and a fast pace.

I feel like this book rounded out the trilogy nicely! It was a cute rom-com with quite a few funny moments. It’s always nice when authors remember the “com” with the “rom”! I loved the characters and I’ve enjoyed reading about the sisters all finding love!

it’s been awhile since i’ve read any historical romance, so going into this read i was somewhat nervous, especially realizing this was the final installment of a series. so knowing that, i knew some of the characters i wouldn’t be as invested in but i still gave it a try.

as far as the setting, i enjoyed the setting and the descriptions of the buildings and the seasons. i loved how it took place in the winter. however, i was expecting bridgerton level of immerse into the story, and i didn’t get that here.

the characters, for me, weren’t that likable. venus seemed not like other girls but in a historical romance. the one quality i did like about her was the fact she spent her time in an orphanage and tried to make their futures better. secondly, there’s galahad. galahad. it speaks for itself with me. he was from the states and used a seemingly southern accent to throw people off? i don’t know it just felt weird to me. i also felt like his personality and background just didn’t really seem translated in the words on the page. i wasn’t rooting for the two of them to get together like i normally do in historical romances, and i could barely feel any tension or chemistry between the two.

if you’ve read the others, you may like this. if you’re in a historical romance era, you may like this. it just wasn’t for me currently.

Never Wager with a Wallflower is the third and final installment in the Merriwell Sisters Regency rom-com series. This delightful addition to the series surpasses the previous books in every way. Each book in the series has pushed the boundaries of the classic opposites attract dynamic, and this one is no exception. The creative storyline adds an exciting element to the already charming plot. This is a fun and engaging read that stands on its own as a great book. It is a must-read for fans of the series and anyone who enjoys a well-written Regency romance.

As soon as I started reading this book it gave me Bridgerton vibes for some reason, I don’t know why. Then throughout the book, I got Jane and Mr. Darcy vibes.. don’t ask. BUT .. I’m not complaining because I loved the whole vibe!

The first page literally cracked me up and I could relate so much. I felt like I was reading a page of my diary at some point.

This is the third book of the Trilogy of The Merriwell Sisters. I actually didn’t know that until I started reading and it said book 3. It felt like a stand alone. However, it would’ve been nicer if I had read the previous books. I will eventually and after I read the first 2 books I want to reread this one with fresher eyes.

It’s one of those books you wish you could read for the first time again anyway, so no harm there!

The other day I was thinking to myself how I’m so used to feeling happy reading the girl’s POV. I just wanted to enjoy a guy’s POV more. This is the book for that ladies and gents! Galahad’s POV was more intriguing and kept me on my toes to be honest!

It felt like a slow burn while all those sparks fluting around between them and smacking me in the face!!
I highly recommend you read this book tbh!!

This novel was so charming. I really enjoyed the wit and humor. The author had lovely characters, and overall it was a fun and enjoyable read. I hope to read more from the author soon.

I've loved reading the Wallflower series, and Venus and Galahad might be my new favorites. Ve and Gal are both amazing heroes who care for the most vulnerable people, while still trying to make their dreams come true. For me, Gal really was the best in this story. I liked Venus a lot, but most of the conflict came from her running away and being unwilling to have a conversation. I love her relationship with her sisters and as a little sister I really related with her relationship with them. This series is over, but you can read any of them as a stand alone, and I'm looking forward to more books from Virginia Heath soon.

I wasn't aware that this was part of a trilogy but it still read well without having the background of the 2 previous books. Characters were likeable enough and adorable, but really would have liked more interaction with the family and the development there. Overall a fun read and can see why people enjoy this series!

Oh this book is so, so SO satisfying! I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish reading it because it’s easily the most addicting and engaging book I’ve read all year. Vee and Gal are just so darn likable. Experiencing them falling in love was the easiest thing in the world, and so enjoyable. A delightful end to the series.

The Merriwell Sisters book are so lovely, and Never Wager with a Wallflower absolutely continued that trend. I think there was more pining in this book than the other two, and it was an enjoyable time. I only wish we had gotten to see more of Venus and Gal's actual relationship after they confessed their love to each other.

We're down to the last sister, Venus. Her story is cute as well as romantic and heartbreaking. The orphans tugged at my heartstrings. Knowing there were so many, in real life, and how hard a life it was, it's a tearjerker. The gambling is interesting, especially having a man and woman wager, not just a friendly family game. Venus and Galahad, were their ever two more perfect names for a romantic couple?

If you read the first 2 books in the series, then don't miss the conclusion. If you've never tried Ms. Heath's books then this is a good one to start with. Such a cute couple with such beautiful words written for them is a treat.

What a satisfying end to The Merriwell Sisters series! Never Wager with a Wallflower follows Venus, the youngest Merriwell sister, and Galahad, her brother-in-law’s cousin. After the pair meet in the previous book, Never Rescue a Rogue, I was only too excited to see how their story developed.

First, I loved how Virginia Heath dove into each of the main character’s backstories to really showcase how their pasts informed their current behaviors. Especially with Galahad, this made the character’s actions so much more understandable. Second, I also enjoyed the cast of characters, both old and new, in this book! It was great to have some familiar faces, but the Claypole twins added so much enjoyment into the reading experience. Third, I wish every author wrote in dual-POV! I absolutely love how well it breaks up the story, and how much more enticing it is to read, because I always want to skip ahead to the next character’s POV.

Although I did enjoy lots about this book, I unfortunately found Venus to be slightly insufferable. I honestly spent most of the book questioning her decisions and just wanting her to stop being so stubborn. In addition, although I absolutely sped through this read, there was just something overall that kept it from being a truly phenomenal romance. It did feel unique from the first two books of the series, but I did happen to like the others just a bit more.

Overall, I gave Never Wager with a Wallflower 3.5 stars. It was certainly an enjoyable read, a did you like historical romances, you’ll probably find it just as fun as I did! Virginia Heath is a very talented author, and I can’t wait to read more of her works.

The perfect end to the Merriwell sisters. This book had me laughing out loud, kicking, giggling, and blushing. Virginia Heath does not miss! I am so jealous of those who get to experience this series for the first time. Loved every second!
