Thank you so much to SMP and NetGalley for this ARC for my honest review. This was such a sweet friends to lovers romance. I liked the setting of Nashville and being between two song writers! I’m always happy with a cute and steamy romance ❤️
I wish there hadn’t been so much miscommunication and Huck and Lorelei shared their feelings sooner. It is worth the HEA in the end!
Will be posting review on Instagram closer to publishing date!
The book cover is misleading!!! It is not a cute cheesy picnic vibe. It is a steamy country singer, the description is true to the story and 110% gives what is promised. Im not a fan of friends to lovers but this was so good, it gave everything and more. I loved the pining and the small/grand gestures. the (supposed) unrequited love. It had me kicking my feet and blushing! If you want a longer romance and hot and steamy pining then I highly recommend it.
The "it was always you," friends-to-lovers miscommunication trope is not my favorite because I get frustrated they don't just tell the other their true feelings, but this one was a little different since there was more than just Lorelai and Craig getting together. I found the beginning of the book hard to follow and confusing, but then it started coming together and everything made sense. I do appreciate that Craig and Lorelai's relationship progression wasn't "insta-love" and nothing felt forced. The characters were well-developed and likable and I admire Lorelai for sticking up for her beliefs and not just doing what's easy to be accepted within the country music world again. Overall, a low-stakes, cute romance with a little more substance and current cultural references.

Such a good read - I really enjoyed this book. I'm so glad that I got the chance to read it early and will definitely be recommending it to multiple people who enjoy these types of novels. I enjoyed the characters and especially enjoyed the writing by this author. I'm excited to see what the author comes out with next as I'll definitely be reading it! Thank you to the publisher for my early copy of this book!
Oh. My. Heart. First, Thank you NetGalley and the Author for an eARC for my honest opinion!
I absolutely loved the story of Lorelai and Craig. Reading a story about the guy falling first was so much fun. Which then had ME falling for HIM. He was seriously such a cinnamon roll. I love how hard he supports Lorelei throughout this story. Characters that support each other just... hit differently. ALSO - Happy to report this has a dual POV! The author gives us a slow-burn, friends-to-lovers plot that is well thought out. The communication and honesty discovered
The slow burn Friends to Lovers was so well done and I really appreciated that at the end of the day, it all came down to communication and being open and honest.
I definitely think all the romance readers out there should add this one to their TBRs. Erin exceptionally develops this emotional and heartfelt romance with well-developed characters and a plot.
This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed the characters of this story and the premise! The book immediately grabbed me but somewhere in the middle I didn’t start to lose some interest. Not because the writing is bad but because I felt that the characters could’ve stopped some of the drama with just some adult conversations. I will say though that the ending was perfect and very Lorelai ! I love that in the end Lor found a family and support system that really helped her to find who she is and be proud of that!
I seriously love Craig’s character! I feel if there is one hero I have read he is one of the best! His big heart, loving soul and just how he goes about life!
The secondary characters in this story are also some of the best even our villain! This author created such an unlikable character that every mention of his name had me making a face.
This is not my last read by this author. I can’t wait to see what is written next!
This book is easily one of the best romance stories that I’ve read this year. It has likeable, engaging characters, and an interesting storyline based in the music industry. Craig is a musician and songwriter, who now owns his own up and coming small production company in Nashville. He was formerly friends and worked with Lorelei’s ex-fiance, a country star. At that time, Craig had met and became friends with Lorelei too. Lorelei’s own successful singing career (and her engagement) crashed and burned after Lorelei sang a political song. Craig and Lorelei had a one-night hookup, and then went their separate ways for years. A lot unfolds in this book. Lorelei has returned to Nashville and resumed her close friendship with Craig. She’s on the edge of resurrecting her career. Craig faces copyright decisions for songs he wrote in the past, and his talent is being more well-known. Both of them try to protect their friendship by not entering a relationship, although they each have strong romantic and sexual attractions to each other. Through dual points of view, the reader sees them grow and learn about being deeply in love. This story has wonderful writing and pacing, along with a satisfying HEA. Highly recommended! I received an advance copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Sometimes your perfect match was right there, all along!
This was my first ever Erin Hahn book and after reading Friends Don’t Fall in Love I immediately need to read everything else Hahn has to offer!
If you’re a fan of country music of just the music industry in general, then this book is for you! The book was absolutely captivating and while there were parts that felt like they were dragging just a little, I still wanted to keep reading!
I absolutely adored the friends to lovers trope between Lorelai and Huck and the chemistry between those two were *chef’s kiss* amazing!
Thank you so much to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Erin Hahn for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review! It is much appreciated!
If you want to get your hands on Friends Don’t Fall in Love, it releases October 17th 2023!
Loved every single page of this book. Cheering for Huck and Loralei will make your heart swoon. Erin Hahn has done it again!
This was my first book of Erin’s to read, and it was definitely enjoyable. The book revolves around a country singer who, prior to the book, was canceled for being political a la The Chicks criticizing Bush back in the early aughts. She teams up with friend/one night stand Craig to make a comeback and try to fight their feelings for one another.
I gave the book 4 stars because it did feel like it dragged a little in the middle and wasn’t giving me the full tension that I was hoping for. But I do plan on going back and reading a couple of her previous books that revolve around minor characters in this one.
Thanks as always to NetGalley for the ARC.
Thank you to Netgally and St. Martin's Press for giving me a e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought the characters relationships were cute and fun. I especially liked the nods to other characters from Built To Last. Was a nice and quick read!
4.5 stars
What did I like? The liberal views in the country music setting. I found it to be a refreshing take! I was rooting for Lore the entire time.
What didn’t I like? This is a me thing. My fundamental problem with the “friends to lovers” trope. Why don’t people just say how they feel? Unless there is a BIG obstacle I don’t see how two people can be all into each other and never say a word.
I thought the book was cute, but I have such a hard time with this trope.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for an ARC of this story.
Great chemistry between Lorelei and Craig but I just wasn’t invested in their relationship. Lorelei is certainly a ball-buster but not in an admirable way. And Craig plays it too safe. And the wokeness is just fucking oozing in this. Hahn does a good job of making it part of the storyline but it’s just overkill. This is a romance novel. Escapism shouldn’t involve all the bullshit I’m trying to escape. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC
This book truly got me and my ''best friends to lovers'' feelings. The main characters' chemistry is undeniable and you can totally feel the connection.
This was a fun friends-to-lovers story, with a side of triumphant career comeback! The intimacy of Huck and Lorelei’s friendship made their chemistry all the more compelling.
The flashbacks got confusing for me at times as to where we were in their timeline but I liked seeing how their relationship grew. The flashback’s don’t happen linearly but it was fun to learn different aspects of their friendship and relationship while you already had some pieces of the puzzle.
This will be a great, cozy, fall read!

Really liked this story and read it very fast! I’m not a huge country fan but I really loved the premise with two young artists in Nashville trying to make it big. Their complicated friendship and past together made for a very sweet friends to lover’s romance. I liked how Craig and Lorelei’s friendship and feelings evolved and how the story went from the past to present and from both point of views to get all sides of the story and how they were both feeling.
The other characters were fun and I will definitely be reading the other authors books after this story!
I absolutely loved Craig and Lorelei's story! I love a good flashback, and I thought they were used well to give a lot of depth to the history between the characters. I also loved the community around them - so fun. Before I reviewed it, I grabbed Hahn's first book in this series and read that, too. Highly recommend!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The two main characters were very likeable and I enjoyed watching them grow together. The only thing that gave me pause about the story was that I never found Lorelei’s storyline all that believable. I just don’t buy that playing one “protest song” would cause her entire career and personal life to implode to such a degree that she’d be forced to leave the entire music industry. So it was a little difficult to get past that plot point, but otherwise it was a cute story with a lot of steam!
This was very good and I could not put it down because I had to know what happened next. This was an absolute dream to read and completely loose myself in. Great romance! I loved it so much, I would definitely read this again!
I just reviewed Friends Don't Fall in Love by Erin Hahn. #NetGalley

Wow I LOVED this book! I enjoyed Built to Last but Friends Don’t Fall in Love was everything. I loved the country music scene, Lorelai’s teaching background and commentary on the state of teaching/gun laws, Huck’s poetry!!!! I loved it all.
