okay so i love trash reality tv and this book leans into the tropes and ridiculousness of it all so well. with a large cast of just about every major social media figure you can think of (prank youtubers, fitness influences, a content house, etc.), it touches on all the wild corners of the influencer-sphere. not super deep, just a fun ride if you're a reality tv fan or interested in influencer culture and how they might handle a real-life crisis.
A dishy, gossipy ride of suspense that will keep you guessing - while none of the characters are particularly likable, this lends to the story concept. Reminiscent of a modern-day game of clue, People to Follow will keep you reading.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. A reality show story for all ages that ends up in murder. A tantalizing read through and through. Reality shows intrigue us all, whether we love or hate them. This puts another spin on it, making it even more interesting than it already is.
All aboard the crazy train full of unlikeable characters and chaos! This book kept my interest and was fast paced, but it was a hard read with how annoying these teens were. Lots of secrets and lots of action.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC
Was this a great book? No. Was it fun? Oh yes. This felt like a fun teen slasher that kept me entertained until the very last page.

Ten influencers all go to a remote Caribbean Island to film a reality show about being unplugged for a three weeks. However, when they arrive things start to go of course very quickly and then deadly. An influencer shows up dead and the production crew is no where to be found.
Overall, this is a fun suspense novel, however I would have liked more character development. I felt like I didn't really care about the influencers because I didn't really know them.
Ten teen influencers come to a remote island to star in a reality show, but when one of them winds up dead, they realize that this time, the price of being “cancelled” could be their lives.
A reality show on a remote Caribbean island. Ten teen influencers. One dead body.
Welcome to “In Real Life,” the hot new reality show that forces social media’s reigning kings and queens to unplug for three weeks and “go live” without any filters. IRL is supposed to be the opportunity of a lifetime, watched closely by legions of loyal followers. But for these rising stars--including Elody, an Instagram model with an impulsive streak; Kira, a child star turned fitness influencer; Logan, a disgraced TikTok celeb with a secret; and Max, a YouTuber famous for exposés on his fellow creators—it’s about to turn into a nightmare.
When the production crew fails to show up and one of their own meets a violent end, these nine little influencers find themselves stranded with a dead body and no way to reach the outside world. When they start receiving messages from a mysterious Sponsor threatening to expose their darkest secrets, they realize that they’ve been lured into a deadly game…and one of them might be pulling the strings.
With the body count rising and cameras tracking their every move, the creators must figure out who is trying to get them canceled—like, literally—before their #1 follower strikes again.
I really enjoyed the slow build of this mystery. Will definitely read more of Olivia Worley.
This book gave me knives out vibes. It wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t remarkable. I had to double check Goodreads to make sure I had even read it.
Ten influencers show up to a remote Caribbean island to film a reality show about being unplugged for three weeks. When they arrive on the island, things start to feel off right away. Then things go from bad to deadly. One cast member is dead, the production crew is nowhere to be found, and every one of them is lying. As a storm rolls in, they start to reveal their secrets and the results could be catastrophic.
This story was fun, if a little unbelievable. I wish we had gotten to know more of the characters. I loved the setting on a remote island with nothing but cameras. Overall a quick easy suspense novel!

Ugh as much as I wanted to DNF this, I was also curious how it would end, so I kept going. Not worth it lol ending did not feel satisfying at all. Overall, this book had way too many characters and all of them were extremely unlikeable and annoying. It had potential, but the author made the characters so cliché and the mystery aspects didn’t feel interesting because the characters kept reacting ridiculously.
I was immediately intrigued when I saw this book. I have been enjoying the "locked room" mysteries, even when it is an isolated island. The idea of it being a reality show also intrigued me since they hook me in in real life. Each character has their own unique personality and were interesting on both their own and with others. I found myself rooting for each as I tried to become an armchair detective and follow the clues to what was going on. I couldn't put this book down! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book in exchange for my review. Unfortunately, I thought this book was boring. The premise and the cover were what led me to request it, however it fell flat. I find that sometimes I need to be in a certain mood to read certain books. With that being said, I may pick this book up again at a later date.

People to Follow by Olivia Worley is a young adult novel. This genre label is important because the book is very young in its tone. The characters were incredibly shallow and hard to like or make a connection with. The book struggled to keep my attention. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
This book really just took me for a ride. I loved the build up, the character development, and the writing. I would definitely read more from this author!
Ten influencers set out to be on a remote island with no phones for the filming of a reality TV show. Suddenly, something tragic happens and it quickly becomes a very dangerous and deadly game. This book makes me never want to allow my children to have social media ever! This was a terrifying look into the influencer and content creator life, and how it can turn deadly. While this is obviously an over exaggeration of influencer culture, it does feel maybe just a hint too real. That being said, I feel as though I am slightly older than the target audience, as I don't even have a TikTok and have a private Instagram. I found this story to be an easy to read thriller. In fact, I flew through this one in a day. It was an interesting look at how far people will go to maintain their status in society, and what too much "fame" can do to a person. Definitely an interesting read, not the best thriller I've read this year, but I do look toward reading more from this author.

I'm obsessed! I loved this book entirely too much! I wish I could read it again for the first time. Well written, perfectly paced, and totally addictive.
I thought this was an okay book but not really my favorite. I wanted more from it and in the beginning I wasnt really sure what to expect. It just felt slow and was kinda boring.
This one just wasn’t my cup of tea. The writing was solid, but I had a hard time getting into the story. I just didn’t love the characters, which I think was the author’s intent, but it was tough to get through this one for me. However, I think a lot of people, especially those who like reality TV, will love this book!
Not what I expected. I knew it would be a YA thriller but some of the characters were too cringy and stereotypical. It was good but something I will likely forget pretty quickly.
I loved this whodunnit story! It was really clever and I never figured out the bad guy which is awesome.
