I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This book captivated me within the first couple of pages. The unique, witty and humorous writing was on point. The characters had an undeniable attraction and the story flowed well. It also had a little twist to the story that only added to it and made it more heartwarming.
Love Jill and look forward to her future books!
The Sweetheart List is book 4 in the Sunrise Cove series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone.
The more I read Jill Shalvis's books the more I see a theme of finding family or figuring out the family you were born into. The Sweetheart List is an uplifting story of fresh starts, learning to trust, and figuring out that it might be easier than you think to live the life you've dreamed of. It's a heart-squeezing story told in the warm and humorous style I've come to expect from Shalvis - and that keeps her on my must read list. Recommended to fans of contemporary romance and the author.
Delightfully sweet and fun romance. This is my first read by this author, so refreshing. A quick, easy and light read. Harper, Brodie and all the characters add a touch of humor even when the story gets intensely personal. Enjoyed this book, do not miss this one.
4.5 Stars!
The Sweetheart List was just the feel-good romance I have been looking for.
When Harper’s life falls apart, she decides to make a change and return to the last place she remembered being happy, Lake Tahoe. While on her quest to fulfill her dream of owning her own bakery, she meets the grumpy yet sexy Bodie and a teenage runaway, named Ivy. Not only will Harper’s world change, but she’ll learn many important life lessons along the way….
The Sweetheart List is told in the third person point of view and is also told from Harper, Ivy, and Bodie’s point of view. From the moment I picked up this book, I found myself intrigued and unable to put this book down. I was captivated by Harper. Harper was tough, stubborn, and ready to take on the world by herself. Meeting Bodie turned her entire world upside down and made her want things she wasn’t prepared for.
I loved the addition of Ivy. She was a resilient teenager that I never saw coming. She challenged both Harper and Bodie. I adored the relationship she forged with Harper and wanted nothing more than for Ivy to find her own place in the world and the peace she desperately needed.
The Sweetheart List is a heartwarming story of finding one’s self and starting over. It’s a story of family and love. A story with secrets and second chances. I enjoyed every moment of this story and couldn’t help but fall in love with all of the characters.
I received a free copy of, The Sweetheart List, by Jill Shalvis, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. When Harper's life falls apart she decides to change it in a healthy way, to move to her happy place, Lake Tahoe, and open a bakery. This is an interesting novel, I really enjoyed reading about Harper and Ivy, a good read.
I enjoyed this book. I especially liked Ham. A lovable bear of a dog. They are the best. I enjoyed reading about the beautiful scenery.
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful book. Of course, we have the main storyline between Harper and Bodie, but Jill Shalvis also weaves a number of other secondary stories so seamlessly that these subplots not only support the main story they feel like an integral part of it. The Lake Tahoe setting and the residents in Sunrise Cove made for the perfect setting and a fun cast of characters that make the book a joy to read. For the first time, my favorite ‘character’ was a dog: Harper’s big buddy, Hambone. For me, he stole all the scenes he was in and gets the award for the best supporting role.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for an advanced reader copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I was not at all disappointed with this book. I enjoyed the storyline of this book . It has some serious topics, but also some funny moments as well. I really liked how she blended this story, and I will definitely be reading more titles by this author as well as recommending it to people I know.
Yet another great book by the awesome Jill Shalvis. This book was very entertaining. I enjoyed the banter between the brothers, Bodie, Mace & Zeke. I loved Bodie's personality and his reaction to Ivy. I loved the chemistry between Harper & Bodie and Shay & Mace. I was glad both brothers fought for love. Abuela cracked me up! It was a very enjoyable read.
I loved this story, perfect beach read.
Harper is determined to pick up the pieces of her life and start fresh in a town that held great childhood memories for her. Brodie is back in his hometown trying to deal with what he believes are his past mistakes that cost the lives of two people he loved. Then there is Ivy, a teen with family issues searching for a place to belong. When these three come together, magic will happen. Along with Bodies family, the characters are fun, likable, and completely relatable. This story was sweet, funny, and full of family, friends, and second chances. Truly recommend.

Oh what a cute, adorable book that felt like receiving a hug. Has everything you want in a romance-light book. Little drama. Funny characters. Hallmark style writing. HEA. It’s the total package. Has that beach read feel (even with the snow) where you escape your life for a light read. I enjoyed it!
Hnmmm. I am going to start by saying that I have not had a great experience with Jill Shalvis in general. But I also think that may be unfair since I only read a novella of hers. My friend adores her, so I figured why not try one of her books in NetGalley. I'm glad that, despite this being part of a series, there was nothing in the book itself that required me to have read the previous books. Maybe I missed some crossovers but I did scan the jackets of the previous 3 books and didn't see anything that said "oh, here are the same folks down the road." And that is perfectly fine. In fact, it's preferred. I don't mind a bit of a crossover, but I am finding myself more drawn to stand alone books esp when they are romances. Ok, but enough of my context.
I generally enjoyed the book. Nothing earth shattering, and to be really frank, the part that I liked the least was the romance. I just never felt like Bodie and Harper were that interesting as a couple. And Harper we perhaps a little too nice - how did she stay in business if she is constantly giving things away? I felt that she and Bodie were fun when they interacted with other characters, but together they lost a lot of their oomph. What I did really like was Ivy. Her voice was fun. She made some bad choices, but generally she was a good kid, and the story around her discovering who she was had the most vibrancy in this book. It was through her that I appreciated Harper and Bodie. It was through her that I wanted their relationship to flourish. It was for her that I wanted a HEA.
I'm not convinced Jill Shalvis is for me, but if there are more characters like Ivy in future books, I'll likely give them a try. Hopefully her other books are less romance and more character development .... That's where I feel like she does hit the mark.
The Sweetheart List by Jill Shalvis is a sweet and heartwarming romance. Harper and Brodie are well developed, relatable and likeable and deserve their HEA. Ivy adds a different twist to the story. Brodie's brothers add many humorous moments and insights into the family background. Ham aka the big, goofy and loveable dog is a favorite character.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
It's nice to know you're guaranteed a happy ending and Jill Shalvis always delivers. Grief, broken hearts, bruised hearts, family travails, families who butt into your business, families that ignore you, happiness, romance, all of this and more. The characters are interesting and appealing as they find their ways forward.
Oh so loved this story about lost people who find each other and realize that their lives have crossed before and after. Jill always brings us into the persons soul and makes us hurt when they hurt, love when they love and send our hope to them that they can always figure out the problem. My mother used to always tell me, when I needed to make a decision, that she had faith I would do the right thing and make my parents proud. I have lived with that all my life and at 66 still use that as my mantra.
So also with the descriptions that Jill gives us I am ready to more to Tahoe. Know I can't afford it but maybe Brodie or someone will let me live with them. One can always hope and maybe there is an old codger that needs someone to take care of him. I would recommend this book anytime of the year not set for any season except the season of hope.
I love Jill Shalvis books. They're always beautifully written and are so sweet with a feel-good ending. In this book she did a beautiful job creating characters that feel so real and loving. The plot was well defined and the storyline kept you engaged until the very end.
In The Sweetheart List, the author brings you into the story and tackles real-life issues in a way that you identify with and actually feel engaged in.
I really identified with the she has created in this book. They are charming and warm here; people that you would like to be friends and neighbors with. Ms. Shalvis has created a small-town real life that we want to live in!
This book is a perfect Summer read to bring along to the pool or beach. It's romantic and sweet, just like the sweet tea you'll be bringing along.

This is a really fun, feel good woman’s romance fiction. It is about starting over, discovering the past and the power of strong, accepting family. When Harper decides to begin her life again in the Tahoe area, she plans on opening a bakery to fulfill her lifelong dream. Her path crosses that of a troubled teen that has come to the area to search for her birth father, a bartender healing from injuries, an adorable dog and a very large, accepting family. Now what is not to love in that delightful combination? This book is one that does not disappoint and in a time of lots of chaos and heavy news, it is a delightful read. Thank you Jill for taking us to a happy place. I highly recommend this book for pure escapism.
I wish to thank NetGalley and Avon & Harper Voyager Books for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. I have voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the first book I've read by Jill Shalvis, and I will definitely read more. I would classify The Sweetheart List as a tame romance. While there is romance, it is not too descriptive or spicy, which I appreciate. Harper opens a bakery near Lake Tahoe and the bakery descriptions were realistic. Her romantic interest, Bodie, is a member of the family that owns the building she leases. Ivy is a homeless teenager with a secret who Harper befriends and helps. It was an entertaining read that kept me engaged until the end. I will recommend this book to my friends. #TheSweetheartList #NetGalley
This was such an easy read for me in the best way possible. It felt like a true romance book without too much drama (although you always need a little) but just enough to keep it interesting.
Harper's dream to start over and have her own bakery was ambitious, to say the least, but I love that she took charge of her own future and went for it.
Bodie was clearly troubled by so much of his past and had to find a way to get through it and instead he found someone to help him through it, Harper.
Ivy was a breath of fresh air as far as romance novels go. Typical teenage full of sarcasm, wit and so much drama you have to roll your eyes, even as you're laughing.
The only thing missing from this book, for me, was that I never got a good picture of what Harper or Bodie liked like. Maybe I missed their descriptions but typically I can envision the characters as I'm reading but in this book I couldn't. The only one I could clearly see in my mind was Ivy.
I would definitely recommend this book ... it brought me joy.
