The writing is solid, creating a vivid atmosphere, but the plot is a mix of captivating moments and predictability. Characters are well-developed, though some lack depth. Pacing fluctuates, making it a decent but not outstanding read.

This was a solid if perhaps too busy story. I felt there were a lot of moving pieces that at times distracted from each other but all in all a a fun, easy read.

Thank you Harper and Avon Voyage publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own!

I absolutely adored this book! The romance was multifaceted and kept me engaged the whole time. I loved how the main characters love each other. I also really enjoyed that it was dual perspective. Though sometimes I forgot who was in the main perspective sometimes. I thought that the story line was something that has been done before, yet had it's own uniqueness. I especially liked the teenage girl, Ivy's perspective the most. It added a lot more to the story.

This story is about Harper who decides to move back to a childhood town. She wants to open a bakery shop. Harper ends up coming a bit early and bumps into Bodie who asks if she needs help. Little does either of them know Bodie is one of the people who are supposed to be helping get her shop ready before she comes. Harper decides to move in anyways even though it is far from finished. Ivy a homeless youth sneaks in her shop to sleep. When Harper shows up she invites Ivy to live with her. Will romance spark between people in this town? Does Ivy have another reason for staying in town even though she is homeless?

Harper Shaw has decided it’s time for a life overhaul and what better place to do that than the one place she found joy as a child- Lake Tahoe. She purchases a shop and opens a small bakery. Along the way she meets a runaway, Ivy, that she lets into her heart and her home. We get to learn about Harper’s and Ivy’s pasts and watch how they both grow together and find hope and peace. A sweet story that I enjoyed start to finish.

Thanks to NetGalley for and ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Cozy story about starting over and second chances. Throw in a bakery and strong family ties, and this is a warm, fuzzy story.

Thank you Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager, Avon for the ARC!

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley of this sweet romance book. Who doesn't like a story with a bakery and a bookstore as part of the setting. Really cute characters hoping for a fresh beginning. Highly recommend.

Such a cute book!

This book definitely gave more than I had expected- in a good way! Harper moves to her childhood vacation spot and opens her own bakery. Here, she meets Ivy (a runaway teenager) and Bodie (the grumpy bar owner). After some time, she starts to develop connections to these two and the town she now calls home. But when secrets start to get out, everyone must break out of their comfort zones and take hold of what they want.

This book is for people who like cozy romance, surprise kids, and bakeries nestled in Lake Tahoe.

I struggled with the sentient dog who is in every other sentence in the beginning and by the end of the book he’s been completely forgotten about. I struggled with the fact that every single female character had been neglected/abandoned by their parents. No other possible storylines for females can exist? It felt lazy. And the rest of the characters lost a parent. On top of that the only children in this book were homeless. A town in Lake Tahoe is just full of people with no family units? Okay…

Then the FMC completely forgives the MMC before the grovel? And her setback from him, “scared of being walked away from,” which he did… was just completely forgiven within the span of a few hours?

Also the men in this book were entirely too perfect. Which was boring and unrealistic.

The Sweetheart List by Jill Shalvis is such a great book. I really loved the small town community and the woman starting a bakery. The romance was perfect, too. I think the runaway teenager Ivy was my favorite part. This book was filled with so much hope and healing that came out of very real hurts. I think readers of women’s fiction will absolutely love this book. I really enjoyed it. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

The Sweetheart List by Jill Shalvis is the fourth novel in her Sunrise Cove series. When Harper’s life falls apart—she moves to Lake Tahoe to open up a bakery and immediately crosses paths with grumpy and closed off Bodie Campbell and a teenager with secrets named Ivy. In this novel, Shalvis blends the complexities of all different types of relationships into a well-plotted and interested romance and heartfelt story. Readers will love the growth of all of the characters and swoon over the romance. The Sweetheart List by Jill Shalvis is beautiful continuation of the Sunrise Cove series that will keep readers coming back for more.

What a heart hug of a book! I'm a sucker for romances like this that are set in a cute little town, with lovable characters, and of course, amazing dogs as characters too! This one gave me all the feels, and Bodie was super swoon worthy! It also made me want all the baked goods, since Harper owns a bakery, so be ready for that! Jill Shalvis does not disappoint with this one.

Jill Shalvis creates the nicest small towns with quirky, but likable characters. The characters all have "issues", but who doesn't? Without them the book would be boring. All the stories in this series are stand alones.

Since her mothes died when she was 12 years old, Harper has not had anyone in her life who she felt she could trust not to hurt her. Her father let her down, then her boyfriend and all their common friends. Trying to restart her life, she packs up and moves to Sunrise Cove, the last place she remembers being happy because she was with her mother, to open a bakery. Baking makes her happy and her baked goods make everyone who eats them happy. There she takes in a runaway, Ivy, who has the same trust issues.

In contrast there are her landlords, the Campbell family, a large loving family. Brodie, despite his rugged appearance is battered on the outside and inside, physically and mentally from guilt from his days as a ATF agent. Harper makes him happy, but Ivy has a secret that could blow up their lives, or bring them closer together. The only thing that didn't ring true to me, is that Harper makes a friend of everyone she meets, so why did she not have any friends before?

I read an ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley.com. this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

I have found that all the books I have read by this author are heartwarming, entertaining reads that tend to have the great endings and this book was no different. The characters in this book are well drawn. The writing style has me live vicariously through them.

Another hit from Jill Shalvis.

Ms. Shalvis has a talent for combining humor and drama into novels that I can’t put down. Her characters are well developed and realistic. I find myself wiping away tears . . . sometimes from laughter, sometimes from a very emotional scene. Her books are always entertaining.

After Harper worked to put her boyfriend/almost-fiancé through law school, the cad dumped her. Harper decides it is time to move back to the last place she was happy, before she lost her mother to cancer, and follow her dream of starting her own bakery. She has to deal with her grumpy sexy landlord. She takes a teenage runaway under her wing. Ivy, the teenager, has a secret that . . . Well, I don’t want to spoil the story . . . But, it is a doozie!

I enjoyed The Sweetheart List and recommend it to anyone who loves a good contemporary romance with an interesting twist. You won’t be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this sweet story! I haven’t read any others in the series but this book definitely made me want to check them out! The story is well written and I really enjoyed the humor interspersed throughout. There are parts that are really unpredictable and focus on hard subjects, but there was nothing I personally found offensive. I would definitely recommend to anyone who like romantic comedies and heartfelt stories!

This was a sweet book about a woman, Harper, who is moving away to a place she used to go in her childhood for a fresh start. She starts over in this town and meets new people and is she able to create a new life for herself or will she up and leave being scared of what’s to come?
