What a great book - it made me laugh at times and feel sad a couple times. Harper moved to Lake Tahoe tos start over with a bakery of her own. Her long time boyfriend had dumped her, she hated where she worked and her dad was just absent from her life. She meets Brodie first thing and slowly they start to be atrracted to each other. The first night in her new place, a teenager breaks in and she lets her stay. Brodie's family is great. Lots of love there. Harper's dog Ham is a sweetheart and you can't help loving him. The story was really about relationships, some are easy, some are hard and some you have to work at. Ivy had come to Tahoe to find her dad but wasn't telling anyone that yet. When he finds out, he is so happy about her, but sad that he missed so much of her life. There were some rough spots with several of the characters but everyone worked everything out. A wonderful book

Not my normal genre but I needed a happy read with a happy ending. A bit unbelievable (short timeline with this high school fantasy thinking) but we all secretly hope to find love, purpose and happiness so why not read about it, especially when joy is needed? In a more extended timeline, I could definitely see this happening and these friendships occurring. Heck, who hasn't dreamed of life turning out this well?

What a great book! This was my first book by Jill Shalvis and I will now have to read all her others. The romance, the family dynamic, the love, the faith, the kindness, you felt it all. This will definitely be in me top reads for the year!!!

A sweet heartwarming romance! I loved it so much and loved the characters. Harper moves to Sunrise Cove after a bad relationship breakup. Even though she has been through a bad time, she is such a loving, kind person, loved by all who meet her.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This story has hit so many touching areas. The author takes on tender subjects with grace and care. She has characters that are real, compassionate, and loving. Her stories are the definition of heartwarming.

In The Sweetheart List, she tells a story that is believable and touching. Shalvis writes in such a way that you feel the emotion pouring out just like you were inside the story too. She takes on real-life issues that you can identify with and take to heart.

I love the characters she has created in this book. They are warm and humorous; people you want to know and become. Small-town real life is the epitome of a Shalvis story and we would be the same without them!

This book is a shining example of the perfect read this summer! Romantic and sweet, not to be missed!

This was such a sweet story. I have not read the others in this series, and even though I didn't need to, I will read them after this. Shalvis created a charming setting with loveable characters. Harper is a woman in need of change. After everything falls apart, she picks up and moves to Tahoe to start a new life and open up her dream bakery. She meets the owners of the neighboring businesses, including Bodie who owns a bar with his brothers, and it seems that everything falls into place. This story is also about a young girl, Ivy, who has come to Tahoe after running away from her absent mom. Ivy has her secrets, but she finds people who care about her when Harper gives her a place to stay and a job. Both storylines blend seamlessly and when all secrets come out, each character has something to learn.

Bodie and Harper are great together and the chemistry was nice. It was just the right amount of heat and every interaction between the characters was perfect. I love the family dynamic and how even the minor characters play into it. This is an adorable romance that has all the feels.

The Sweetheart List is a story about finding your happy place, returning home, starting over and relearning how to trust. Along with finding friendship, love, and discovering a new meaning for family, it’s a story about forgiving your past and embracing your now. What a great recipe…it has all the ingredients for making you want to understand each of the characters’ reasons for what they’ve done with their lives. And who better to tell it than Jill Shalvis. Wonderfully written!

I will start by saying that I haven’t read the other books in this series, but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. I loved the characters in this book, they all seemed to come alive and jump off the pages. The brothers had me laughing out loud at their bickering and Harper and Ivy had me cheering them on. A great fast read.

This is the fourth book in the Sunrise Cove series and my first book by Jill Shalvis and I thought it was really sweet. I especially enjoyed all of the characters and I found myself thinking about them long after I finished the book. I had a hard time putting the book down wondering how everything would come out for them.

Harper Shaw pulls into Tahoe to open her Sugar Pine Bakery. She chose Tahoe because she remembers being happy there when she was there years ago. She decides to start her life over and that includes no more list making. She and her big dog, Hambone, start meeting town people right away, including grumpy Bodie Campbell, the local tavern owner and his large family. There are several side stories with Bodie’s family as well as a mysterious teen runaway with a big secret that Harper befriends. I got hungry reading about the wonderful baked goods they were all eating from Harper’s bakery as they got to know each other.

Bodie was injured when he worked for the ATF and has spent the last six months recovering from four gunshot wounds. He finds himself interested in Harper, but Harper is trying to be self-reliant and is not sure she is ready to tie in a relationship, but she is very attracted to Bodie, so it’s fun to watch their romance grow. It’s also fun to watch Brodie’s brothers and their partners as they work on their relationships and they also bring a lot of humor to the story. There are group family texts that are funny.

I recommend this heartwarming story for readers looking for a sweet romance about starting over with a loveable dog and new found family. I think this would make a fun beach read! Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Avon for the advanced copy of the book.

A super cute light read.
Harper is such a strong person. Ivy and Bodie were good characters and the Campbell brothers added in some great humor!!!

This was my first book by Jill Shalvis although I realize she has many well received books. I enjoyed reading about this group of characters. In fact, I thought the best part of this reading experience was learning about each person. I found the characters stayed with me each time I put the book down and felt the need to go back and read more about their lives. I do recommend this book, even though I thought it was a bit predictable It held my interest and made me want to continue to read on. It was a character driven story and one I think most people with identify with and enjoy...

Oh my happy heart. This new Jill Shalvis book ticks all the boxes. Protagonist Harper sets out to create a life that sparks joy again and cobbles it together through a series of people and events that are achingly sweet.

Some of the tropes and story lines are repeats of the genre and even the author, but I find I don't mind at all. All the feel good fun of a romance that focuses more on the relationships instead of the sex to carry the story line.

Thanks Net Galley and Jill Shalvis for another great ARC book that reminds me about the joys of reading.

The Sweetheart List was a sweet, fun, exciting little read. I wasn't sure what to expect with it being the fourth book in the series and not having read any of the others, but I wasn't disappointed and didn't feel at any time I was missing anything with the plot. Shalvis did an amazing job including all the other characters previously written about as if they were new or just part of a new chapter.
Harper and Bodie are both surviving from something neither of them really want to share with the rest of the world or talk about, but they both want a fresh start. Little do they know that a kid running through town would be the one to make them both happy.
This book includes romance, love, bonds that cant be broken no matter what, runaways, new starts, child neglect, but most importantly, family bonds.
This is one of my favorite reads so far this year. I will be looking up all her other books as well! I cannot wait to recommend this and pick it up for my shelves when it comes out.

Shalvis is a master at creating books that give readers all the "feels". This one is no exception. I'd sorta drifted away from her books for awhile but am glad I found my way home with the advent of the Sunrise Cove series. Harper Shaw is starting over. She's brittle, prickly, and talks to her dog, a 125 lb. Bermese rescue. I liked her immediately. I did have to chuckle as she slides into town, literally, honest, and makes the comment about not realizing there would be snow on the ground that time of year. Uh, yeah, right. Anyone who follows Shalvis on social media surely knows what the weather is like in the Tahoe area.

In any case, Harper is not just starting over, she's making an effort to change how she lives her life, too. For instance, no lists. I'm not sure that was a great idea when you're moving but, well, it does mean she'll be more open to random people and adventure, right? Well, not exactly. Let's just say ignoring an offer of help, twice, in fact, tells you right away that the new Harper is still a work in progress. Hambone, aka Ham, her dog, in contrast, seems to have never met a stranger. Of course, although she’s sworn off men, she's not immune, noticing that stranger, Brodie Campbell, is, well, attractive. He turns out to not just own the bar next to her soon-to-be business, but is her landlord. She's also not sure about Shay who comes to her rescue with kitty litter. The fact she's dressed up as Velma from the Scooby Doo crew when they first meet probably had something to do with Harper's reluctance to trust her immediately. That said, somehow you just know they're going to be great friends.

I won't detail the plot as the blurb does an excellent job. I loved the characters immediately and the fact that we got to see things quickly through the eyes of both main characters, Harper and Brodie. The nuances and quirks of each emerge as we learn their backstories, not to mention the stories of the supporting characters. Now, true, you just want to shake some sense into some of them almost immediately, too, as they hide their real emotions and selves behind invisible walls. In other words, be prepared for a bit of an emotional roller coaster at times. Toss in a runaway teen girl searching for her real father and, whoa, life gets interesting for our new friends in Sunshine Cove. Oh, and you'll love the family texts sent by the brothers. They alone provide great insight into who each brother is and that despite the joking around they love each other. And, trust me, there are several love stories for you to enjoy. Just make sure that seat belt for the emotional roller coaster is firmly fastened.

Bottom line, if you like romances and women's fiction that is both character driven and well-written, you should give this one a read. There's much more to the story than I've touched on, so it'll grab and hold your attention and, yes, give your "feels" a work-out. Thanks #NetGalley and #Avon - #HarperVoyager for inviting me back to Sunrise Cove. Hope to return soon.

I enjoyed this sweet, heartwarming story about family and finding love. Harper and Bodie were both likable and engaging. The entire cast of characters were fun. I loved the bantering between siblings and the feisty mom. I enjoyed the side plots in addition to the developing romance and Ivy's fit into the mix while she tried to find her place in the world. The different POVs gave the story perspective that really worked.

Overall, a fun, light story. I laughed at all the baking puns. :)

Review: The Sweetheart list
Author: Jill Shalvis

Rating: ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️

There is a reason Jill Shalvis is Jill Shalvis .
And books like this are that reason.

Of course this book is a sweet small town romance- something we can all get on bored with. But more than that this book has heart. The characters are real- they have depth and personality you feel sad to turn the final page because you you feel like you truly met these people!

I loved the interactions between Bodie and Harper and the reminder that you CAN read a romance that is fairly clean and compelling in 2023.

And of course Harper and Ivy got my right in the heart strings.

Do yourself a favor and read this sweet book this summer 😂☀️🍰🧁📚📚🍻

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I've always enjoyed Jill Shalvis' books so it was a real treat to be selected for an ARC.

This was a very cute book with likeable characters and a big goofy dog. The descriptions of Lake Tahoe were vivid which made me want to visit. I especially enjoyed the dinner scenes with the extended family all attending and enough food to put everyone in a coma! While the story was a big predictable, I enjoyed every page and was sorry when I got to the last page and had to say goodbye to these characters.

Although this book is part of a series, it reads as a standalone quite well.

I’m sorry to say this was just meh. I wasn’t feeling much of spark between main characters, Bodie and Harper. The writing was choppy along with several side stories that didn’t really make a difference and took away from the romance between Bodie and Harper. The author seems to favor a few phrases that get used often and plucked my nerves. Another reviewer I think said it best - it’s okay enough to read if there’s nothing else around.

Another winner from Jill Shalvis. She is one of the queens of the rom-com. This books is well written, and you fall in love with the characters in the 1st chapter.
Harper has moved across the country to start her own bakery. As she starts on her new adventure she finds a bunch of people that become her family. Brodie is back in his home town after a job goes sideways. As he learns how to let people into his life he gets the best gift of them all.
Highly recommend for any Jill Shalvis fan as well as anyone that loves a feel good rom-com.

This book made me crave baked goods! I really don’t need another reason to indulge my sweet tooth, but The Sweetheart List by Jill Shalvis really hit the spot. A sweet story of new beginnings, new loves and new families made for an enjoyable read. I liked the characters (a few of which I could relate to more than I care to admit) and could hear the dialogue in my mind, especially the sarcastic and familial bantering bits. I plan to recommend this book to friends and family, as I think everyone can find a character that reminds them of someone, including themselves. This is the latest book in the Sunrise Cove series. (I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.)
