The Sweetheart List is another great addition to the Sunrise Cove series! Harper Shaw is a woman on a mission. She is all about finding the joy in her life. She has left her previous job as a baker in southern California and has made the decision to start fresh in the last place that she was truly happy. So she has rented a shop and is opening her own bakery on her own terms. She's done with trying to make others happy, done with lists and most importantly, done with men! Well fate is laughing in Harper's face because on her first night in town she bumps into local Bodie Campbell. She may not want anything to do with him but not only does he have a business right near hers but his family is also her landlord! Adding to Harper's welcome to town is a homeless teenager. Ivy has been sleeping in this vacant store since she arrived in Sunrise Cove. Ivy also has a mission and keeps her thoughts and feelings held close. The Sweetheart List was a great woman's fiction book that also contains elements of contemporary romance. Bodie, Harper and Ivy are all internally searching for something and if they are all brave enough they can find it in Sunrise Cove. It was told from multiple points of view (which I love) and was very sweet with just a touch of heat.
4.5 out of 5.
I think Harper, Brodie, and Ivy are my fave characters of this series so far and I’ve loved pretty much everyone so far. Jill Shalvis is def an auto-buy-must-read author for me and I just resolved to have every one of her books my shelf. I’ve yet to read a book of hers I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. I can’t wait for the next installment in the Sunset Cove series.
4 stars. It has been awhile, since I read/listened to a Jill Shalvis. I forgot how much I liked her books! And no, it wasn't for the sex! At this point in life, the story is more important, as is the romance, I can do without the sex, but it wasn't as much as I remember as in some of her books, but then I fast-forwarded through the sex scenes.
Harper is ready to move forward, to say no to the areas of her life that don’t make sense and yes to new adventures. After packing up her car and driving to Lake Tahoe, where she acquired space to use for a bakery and coffee shop, she finds herself facing unexpected challenges which threaten to derail her plans. However, Harper also meets and befriends her landlord and his brothers, other tenants, and a runaway who steals her heart. At the end of the day, Harper knows she found her new home.
I enjoyed the story’s pacing and plot, which include a semi slow burn between Harper and Brodie, one of the brothers she rents from. They have a good chemistry despite both being in a ‘no relationship space.’ I liked the few twists the story introduces, as well as the rapport in Brodie’s family. Overall, The Sweetheart List will be a pleasant read on a stormy afternoon or any time you want to disappear for a few hours.
I received a copy of this book from Net galley and have written a s objective review,
Highly entertaining, emotionally thrilling, sweetly sexy and action-packed romantic adventure filled with desire, the struggle for true love and passion. Was a edge of your seat exciting journey from beginning to end and so hard to put down.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. We open with Harper leaving her old life behind to start fresh in Lake Tahoe, the last place she truly felt happy. We are immediately introduced to Bodie who will be her new landlord and becomes her love interest. While this is a strong and well written story for the most part, I feel as though the story's focus switched away from the promise in the synopsis. Harper is definitely a lead character in this book, but the plot quickly becomes about Ivy (a teen introduced early on) and Bodie's connection with each other. Harper's journey seems to take more of a backseat until the end when it seems the author decided to hurry and resolve all threads with surrounding characters and then get in a quick fix for Harper. I didn't think there was enough with Harper, her bakery, her relationships, etc. Again- a very solid book, I did like it- I just didn't think it matched the synopsis and I didn't vibe with it the way I have with previous Jill Shalvis books.
Jill Shalvis's books are some of my favorite reads because you always know what you are going to get from. Her books are always filled with great friendships and heartwarming stories. If you are a fan of small town's and a grumpy hero than I would check out this one! Thank you Avon and netgalley for my gifted copy for review.
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy of The Sweetheart List by Jill Shalvis. I love this series and these characters. It was sweet, charming and like a book hug. Five solid stars! I’ll be recommending this to everyone.
This book was an incredibly cute and quick summer read. I loved everything about the MC, Harper, and her curmudgeon of a love interest, Bodie. While 4th in a series, it the others didn't need to be read first to read this. Only the town remains constant in the books. Side characters Shay and her grandmother were probably my favorites, to be honest. I need them in my life.
Jill Shalvis is one of my favorite authors! The Sweetheart List is wonderful! Happy reading!
**I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely**
Jill Shalvis' books always leave me feeling positive and content. They aren't just about finding a love match, they also provide a strong sense of family and friendships. The people in these books find their "people" and the place they belong. It truly is a beautiful thing. I love that uplifting feeling. We don't get it enough in life so it's nice to get it in books.
Harper Shaw and Bodie Campbell have a beautiful albeit a little rocky story. I really loved how their relationship developed. They were both "gun shy" but as time progressed, they grew into the relationship they were forming and let it blossom. But when a sudden scare comes along, can their fledgling relationship weather the storm or will it be collateral damage? It's a beautiful story about finding your way through the cloud of doubt that life throws at you and learning to believe in yourself and others again.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.
Another great book by Jill Shalvis. The two main characters are Harper and Bodie. Harper comes into Bodie’s hometown to open up a bakery. She is renting the store from Bodie’s family. Bodie runs a bar. There is an instant attraction. They start dating. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.
The story and cast of characters could not have been any better! Harper and Bodie are such a perfect couple. You could see them as a couple from the start of the story but would not have known how. Jill Shavis is a romance writer that did not disappoint. Recommend!
Another enchanting read by Jill Shalvis. Harper moves to Sunrise Cove to open a bakery, her dream . She meets Bodie, her landlord who runs the tavern next door. She also meets Ivy, a runaway teenage girl who she decides to help because she emphasizes with her. However, Ivy has secrets that changes everything. I enjoyed this booked and had a hard time putting it down.
I so tried to get into this story but it just didn't hold my attention. I have to be drawn in immediately to a novel I'm sure it's a wonderful story but just not for me. It felt too dry and uninteresting. I'm sure others will enjoy it.
Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
I adore a good Jill Shalvis book and The Sweetheart List is right up there with some of my fave books by her.
What I liked:
All the heart eyes over this cover!
Harper. This girl had been through a lot and I wanted her to find happiness and joy because she deserved it.
The ending gave me a ton of feels.
Bottom line: This was a cute book that had some family drama-lite situations and a HEA ending that was as sweet as icing on the perfect cupcake.

I've read books by Jill Shalvis before and they're usually hit or miss. This one was a hit!
I didn't realize this was book 4 in a series but I don't think it hindered by enjoyment of the series. Perhaps I wouldn't known some more of the backstory and maybe missed some inside jokes but it was fine and makes me want to go make and read the other books.
This particular story's characters stand out on their own and were a delight! I enjoyed the characters, the plot, and the resolution in this story!
A sweet, clean romance that’s part of a bigger series ? Sign me up . I’m a sucker for all things romance . I love these characters and the universe they live in - I love this author and everything she writes .. highly recommended .
So many great aspects of this comforting romance!
I loved the quaint community setting, the flawed but loving characters, the touching back stories, the chemistry, the hope for fresh starts, and the beautiful themes of forgiveness and grace. The descriptions of yummy baked goods were a plus as well.
Harper leaves behind her life as she’s known it and returns to the last place that she was truly happy - a small mountain town by Lake Tahoe called Sunrise Cove. There is some work to be done on the apartment she’s renting and to get her new bakery up and running, but she finds helpful support from the hot bartender/property owner Bodie and her new bestie who has a bookstore next door. Then she takes in a runaway named Ivy. They all seem to have some hurts from their pasts and some secrets they’re holding close, but as trust is gained and truth is revealed there might be some healing and connection with the beginning of something new.
The small town support is a fun vibe, along with Bodie’s extended family. The relationship between Harper and Bodie is fun (and unexpectedly spicy.) And the unique situation of Ivy and some of her friends adds a little mystery and intrigue into to the story. I wasn’t always sure how things would all work out, but I held out hope for a HEA and was thankful to get it.
This book is in a series, but I completely enjoyed it even though it’s the first that I’ve read from the series. It can definitely be read as a stand alone.
* Thankful to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to read this as an ARC. This review was written on my own accord with my own honest opinions.
