Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Lots of questions developed in my mind as I read this book. It was a quick read… but just too many questionable actions.
I did not get attached to the characters. The setting was beautiful.
Also how long would you wait to turn in your winning lottery ticket??
4 stars
Thank you Netgalley and William Morrow for the eARC Windfall.
This was a great book to read. It was suspenseful, exciting and sorrowful. I was not expecting to grieve with the characters. I recommend this quick read to anyone who likes to read suspense novels.
Sometimes winning the lottery isn’t all sunshine and roses. For these three good friends it seems like the troubles start. Lots of twists and turns and I enjoyed the book.
This one was so fun! When three BFFs win big on a lottery ticket and think all their problems will go away, that's when their biggest problem hits. Isolation, backstabbing, and secrets come pouring out in this novel by Staub and I'm so excited to have read this.
I enjoyed this book, it engaged me right away. This was my first by this author.
Who hasn’t dreamed of winning the lottery just like these 3 old college friends do? Leila, JJ & Molly reunite for a fun Vegas weekend. Their lives have all gone in different directions than they all dreamed they would. Then a last minute lottery ticket purchase gives them the chance to change all that when they hit the jackpot. So once they again reunite this time to the infamous Windfall mansion under the help financial consultant Shea Daniels. But the Windfall mansion has its own story to tell. What happens when it all comes together?
This was a good story of how money can change everything and not always in a good way.
Why would you sleep with your windows open during fire season in California? Especially with a baby?
Also if you won the lottery how long would you wait to turn in your ticket?
I never got attached to any of the characters.. It was fun and I liked the different perspectives. I loved the setting.
I just never got attached.
This was so good!! Literally biting my nails good! I thought this was an amazing read! I could not stop reading this!

Leila, Molly and JJ are three friends who haven’t seen each other in years. They reunite and buy a winning billion dollar lottery ticket.
They go to sudden wealth manager, Shea Daniels mansion, Windfall where movie star Chantal Charbonneau disappeared 20 years ago. The California wild fires are raging and one of them disappears. Devastating secrets are revealed as they fight for their lives.
This story had jaw dropping twists that kept me reading long into the night.
Thanks NetGalley and William Morrow for this ARC that will be released July 11, 2023!
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
What a truly gripping page turner. The premise was so great and original! I enjoyed reading about the characters and all the troubles that came with their story. This wasn't my first book by the author and certainly won't be the last. Fans of tense, wild thrillers will like this one.
Have you ever fantasized about winning the lottery? Windfall lets readers live vicariously through the chilling aftermath 3 friends find themselves facing when their wildest dream comes true and they unexpectedly win big! A dramatic podcast analyzing the mysterious disappearance of a Hollywood superstar intrigues the reader with an enveloping backstory. Fast-paced story that analyzes women's friendships. Tension builds as thick as the Santa Ana winds and the California fires surrounding the historic mansion trapping our lucky protagonists. How far would you go to keep your secrets safe? What would you do for a billion dollars? Who will make it out alive?
I've loved Wendy Corsi Stuab since I was a teenager and I can say that she just keeps getting better. Great book!
