A brilliant, thriller of how three women plot out a revenge. They all have one thing in common abusive and controlling partners that they want to get away from. They meet in and online forum and share their secrets that they wouldn’t tell people in real life. They form a pact.

I love how you think you know what is going to happen and then you get blind sided by Petal. She is the master puppeteer that you didn’t think had it in her to be so dark and calculating. Well done! It was the shock I didn’t see coming and I loved it.

Cassie, Jada and Petal were all so different but you were rooting for all of them to get out of the toxic relationships. I was happy to see diverse characters and strong fierce females.

This was a truly thrilling read! Bodies turning up in the wilderness, sociopaths, different storylines coming together--all left me wondering until the final pages. I was not predicting the "twist" and I love the way the story keeps the reader guessing. Recommend for anyone who loves outdoor thrillers!

Due to be released June 27th...I was lucky enough to get an ARC from #Netgalley and having read other books from this author, I was thrilled and happy to read it. Again, McKenzie gets you to hand on to the story of Cassie who escapes an abusive husband. She goes back to what she did before - Search and Rescue in Yosemite....and fits right in. We find her interacting with some of the hikers, visitors and old friends.

But then there is a rescue, somewhat similar to an earlier one Cassie was on many years ago. And this is where the story gets interesting. A page turner until we hit the twist I was not expecting and the story gets even more intense because I truly did not see that one coming. You will not be disappointed in this author...until its release try reading some of her other books as they are great too!

Well that was a ride.

I truly didn't expect this to go where it did and my mind is still trying to put it all together. But there's sociopaths, wilderness, a traumatic past event, Instagram, bear court and a very unreliable narrator.

It's a quick read that'll be perfect for poolside..

Wow! From the first page, I was hooked and couldn’t put the book down. An immediate thriller that kept twisting and surprising me until the last page! Loved this story so much!

This was an enjoyable and fun book. I liked the descriptions and the adventure. I'm not an outdoorsy person but this book made me feel like I could be with a lot of training. There was a lot of suspense throughout. I enjoyed the main character Cassie and the secondary character Ben. My only complaint is the pacing felt off because of the social media posts, journal entries, and jumping between "then" and "now." It wasn't difficult to keep up with but the different forms of media to read always threw me off. The social media especially felt annoying to read (which is similar to real life) and didn't feel like it was absolutely necessary.
Overall though I enjoyed this book and would recommend it. It had a good twist in the end that I was grateful for because it connected quite a bit I was confused about throughout the book.

Have You Seen Her by Catherine McKenzie is about Cassie Peters, who has left her hectic and secretive life in New York City for refuge in her hometown of Mammoth Lakes, California. There, she begins working again with Yosemite Search and Rescue, where a case she worked on a decade ago continues to haunt her.

It took me a bit to get invested in the story. I did like Cassie, and I really liked the setting and the descriptions of the atmosphere and locale. The story is written from multiple points of view and timelines, so you need to pay attention to follow what is happening.

The story had a good mystery. The characters were well-developed, and I liked the location. Overall, an okay read for me. I would check out other books by this author. I rate this a 3.75 out of 5 stars (rounded to 4).

It was good. The premise of the book was really interesting but personally, I struggled with the disconnect between the storytelling style and the storytelling that went beyond an unreliable narrator. Once I figured out what was most likely happening, it became a little predictable, which isn't a bad thing because I often take that to mean the author popped enough clues in there that everything fits and starts to make sense. But it also had me questioning the purpose of the first 3/4ths of the book because it didn't feel like any of it was true but it also didn't add anything to the story.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this captivating eARC.

Wow!

I have been trying to determine how to best provide feedback for this novel without including spoilers (a practice I personally view as abhorrent). I feel that
a novel's delicious secrets should be introduced in the story how and when the author intended. A large part of my reading enjoyment is in discovering these "golden nuggets' myself; I cannot fathom that any true fan of an author or genre would DISAGREE with this sentiment.

If you have read Catherine McKenzie before - let me tell you, this book is McKenzie honed to an entire new rapier edge of Machiavellian delight!

Being a fan of "revenge" novels, you can begin by thinking of "Strangers on a Train" however let me assure you this novel is unlike any other psychological thriller you have read before!

Readers who enjoy Jennifer Heller's novels, who have not yet read this author - this is THE NOVEL to read first to begin your journey.

Note to author: If this is the type of cleverness that your previous editor prevented you from writing, I say, "bring it ON!" Great job writing this one, reading it was a " guilty pleasure".

Until next time, and remember, keep your friends at a distance and (those who you perceive to be) your enemies a bit closer..

Breathtaking. Gripping. Ominous.
These words describe Catherine McKenzie’s newest thriller AND the location in which it takes place. This action-packed story begins with Cassie Peters secretly leaving her marriage and home in NYC for Mammoth, CA and the majestic mountains of Yosemite National Park, where she re-joins a Search and Rescue team after being gone for ten years. As she and her team are sent out on several search missions in the majestic surroundings, Cassie is triggered into re-living a difficult search she’d been part of back then and which has haunted her ever since. Within days of her arrival, two other young women and their partners show up at the base camp bringing with them their own secrets and mystery. What are the secrets these three women have and what awaits them in the rugged mountains?

Fast paced and full of twisty turns, McKenzie once again shows us her creative ability in this genre. Her descriptions of Yosemite, Mammoth and the surrounding areas are beautifully detailed throughout the story. So strap into your climbing gear and get ready to scale this suspenseful novel.

I had a hard time getting into this book. Once I was, I didn’t want to put it down. The dual timelines could get a bit confusing at times and I had some trouble keeping things straight. It was a good book, loved all the details, and the conclusion was something I didn’t see coming. Thanks to NetGalley and the author for an ARC of this book.

First book I've read by the author. This took a little while for me to get into, but I did eventually, and I enjoyed it. The tale took a few odd twists which I appreciated. Overall, a decent read.

I received a complimentary copy of the novel from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Another standout from Catherine McKenzie! Cassie is leaving her old life and a sketchy ex-husband behind in NYC to return to her hometown to work as a search and rescue officer in Yosemite. I loved the element about the details of being a SAR worker, learning climbing lingo, and how mountain life works. Weave that in with a mysterious park guest disappearance and Cassie's old life weaving her way back into her new one and wow! You'll never see the end coming. I loved this and couldn't put it down.

Excellent book! The main character is running from something in New York so she takes a job as a rescue worker-climber -in Yosemite. If you love fast paced domestic thrillers then this book is for you. Try to go into this one as blind as possible.

The first half was a bit slow and boring - almost DNF'd but the second half was so much better! I'm glad I finished it as the ending was so unexpected. Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for my honest feedback. 3.5 out of 5 ⭐️‘s

i absolutely ate up the setting for this book! yosemite? camping? climbing? sign me up!!! this book follows 3 different story lines all linking up towards the end of the book. the twist got me good! the ending just felt a little rushed and wasn’t too happy with it. why i didn’t rate it higher! but really did love the plot and setting in yosemite.

*also check TW!!! * there is abuse

It's a mystery written in multiple POV from the past and present, I wasn't sure how I would enjoy the back and forth, but it was written so well that it captured you and made it to were you wanted the past POV to understand fully. The plot and character were beautifully executed!!

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the copy of Have You Seen Her by Catherine McKenzie. There was a lot more to the story than the description indicated, but the book started slowly, giving a lot of information about her life in the past with a few glimpses of the present. The two different timelines were confusing to me. I usually enjoy dual timeline books, but for some reason I couldn’t keep them straight until I was well into the book and even then I would have to check back to see if it was Then or Now. I’m still unsure how long ago Then was. The characters were well-written and I liked how they were distinctive and flawed. If you love a twisty ending, this is the book for you - the ending was completely unexpected and I want to read the book again to see what clues I missed. This was a good read, but it took too much work to understand the timelines.
