This story was such a fun story. It had a great mix interpersonal character conflict and thriller. At first the stories seem very separate and that they will intertwine only peripherally but once a plot is revealed - yikes! Not at all what I guessed was going to happen.

This book is not to be missed.

In HAVE YOU SEEN HER, Catherine McKenzie takes us on a twisty ride that will have you questioning everything you know or think you know. After a tragic outcome to a Search and Rescue job, Cassie left everything in Mammoth Lakes and Yosemite and reinvented her life. Years later, she needs a place to hide and returns to her old life, hoping to remain safely hidden. She doesn’t expect to cross paths with two different women who seem to have secrets of their own, and have her hiding place exposed, especially when tragedy strikes, again.
McKenzie immerses us in a nail-biting story with a beautiful backdrop and interesting and complex characters. I couldn’t put it down!
Thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the novel. All opinions are my own and freely given.

I actually said "Wow. I was not expecting that" while I was reading this book. I love when that happens. As much as this felt like a predictable woman running scared type of story, Cassie was not your typical main character trying to start a new life. I enjoyed the setting of Yosemite National Park as we following a group of Search and Rescue workers trying to find a missing couple. And it's deja vu for Cassie because the last time she had this job, she was working on finding her friends who were missing. The ending still haunts her to this day.
Have You Seen Her tackles the fear of abuse and the manipulation and control that takes over when or if the abused makes an attempt at escape. I would definitely flag this with a trigger warning.

I really enjoyed this thriller. The writing was well done. The plot was fast paced in the beginning, but hit a little lull part way in. I did not guess the ending which is what I crave most from a thriller. Highly recommend this one.

A mystery set in a national park? Consider my interest piqued. There were things I liked and didnt like about this one. I enjoyed getting to know our FMC Cassie, and her unique job as a search and rescuer. I enjoyed the "stuck in the woods" atmosphere and felt the author did a good job transporting the reader. I also enjoyed the multiple POVs. I did not enjoy the romance subplot and thought it was unnecessary and distracting. I also thought most of this book was too slow and then BAM last 20% was twisty. I prefer more twists thru out the book then just at the end. All in all I did enjoy this one and I do think others will really like it. I will keep an eye out for this author and read more!

I received a free copy of Have You Seen Her from Netgalley and Atria Books in exchange for an honest review.
If you loved Catherine McKenzie’s previous novel, Please Join Us, you’ll LOVE Have You Seen Her. Cassie heads out to Yosemite Search and Rescue to try to escape the life she has in NYC. Little does she know, even the wilderness of Yosemite Park isn’t enough to keep her past where it belongs: in the past.
A psychological thriller to rival Please Join Us, McKenzie’s newest novel will keep you up until you reach the final page.

Equipped with a burner phone and a new job, Cassie Peters has left her hectic and secretive life in New York City for the refuge of her hometown of Mammoth Lakes, California. There, she begins working again with Yosemite Search and Rescue, where a case she worked a decade ago continues to haunt her.

She quickly falls into old patterns, joining a group of fellow seasonal workers and young adventurers who have made Yosemite their home during the summer. There, she meets Petal, a young woman living in a trailer with her much older wife, keeping a detailed diary of the goings on of the park, and Jada, a recent college graduate on a cross-country road trip with her boyfriend, documenting their journey on Instagram.

When these three women cross paths, Cassie’s past catches up with her, and the shocking consequences ripple out far beyond what any could have imagined in this unputdownable thriller from an author who “never fails to impress” (Mary Kubica, New York Times bestselling author).

Have You Seen Her is a quite the page turner. So much was happening and I needed to know how Cassie got from point A to point B and if the missing hikers would be found. I was surprised by most of this story, especially by the crazy twist that I didn't see coming at all. Since it goes between the past (starting at the beginning of Cassie's new job) and the present, a lot is revealed, but it is done in a way that still keeps you guessing. And it stays creepy throughout...

I liked how we saw Petal's thoughts through her diary entries and got an idea of what Jada was like through her Instagram posts. Cassie was always the main narrator though.

I know this is a short review, but what I said above really sums up my thoughts. It kept me engaged and questioning everything.

Well done, Catherine!

I appreciate the ARC. This title was a struggle to read as it didn’t not keep my attention. It just didn’t pull me in.

This one brought all the feels because it was set in some of my favorite places in the Eastern Sierras, so I was transported to summer camping trips. But then it hit with a crazy mystery and a thrilling plot twist.

Cassie arrives back in Yosemite to join the Search and Rescue team after 10 long years away. But she’s obviously running from something in her past - there’s so much there though, it’s hard to know which part she’s running from. She is also drawn to two other women staying there - Petal who is in a relationship with a much older woman and Jada, a social media influencer traveling the country with her boyfriend. The lives of these three women intertwine and unfold over the summer months in Yosemite with an ending I definitely didn’t see coming!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

While this book had a great storyline, I had a hard time getting into it. I don't know if it was the way it was written or if it was the characters, but this book just didn't click for me. many people have loved it, so I feel it is just me.

I was very excited for Have You Seen Her since I loved her book Please Join Us. However, this book is drastically different. There were some twists and it was a slow burn for me. Personally, I was not a huge fan but I can see others really enjoying this book. I would recommend you give it a chance for yourself.

Each of the characters seem to be running from something and this was a very good plot. The writing was atmospheric and I relished that.
Many thanks to Atria and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I have enjoyed a few other books by Catherine McKenzie, but Have You Seen Her was not the one for me. There were so many twists and turns, which I loved, but it felt more like a slow burn, which slowed me down. If you have read other Catherine McKenzie works before, definitely give this one a try. I thought the plot of this book was so well written, but there were reveals where I thought I was missing something.

THANK YOU TO ATRIA BOOKS FOR ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!!!!!!!!

Cassie needs to get away from her life in NYC, so she packs a backpack and a burner phone and heads to her home town of Mammoth Lakes, CA. She has gotten her old job back working with Yosemite Search and Rescue, where she worked a summer 10 years earlier. Nothing much has changed. She hangs out with her fellow SAR workers and gets to know the travelers who have come to spend their summer at Yosemite. Then a couple goes missing, and the parallels are way too similar to another couple who went missing when Cassie was working with SAR a decade ago.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a quick read, and it will keep you guessing. I had to suspend disbelief quite a bit, which is bothersome, but it didn’t hinder my enjoyment of this novel very much at all. I have a few other Catherine McKenzie books on my TBR, and I’m looking forward to reading them.

This book was a great mystery with suspense and twists throughout. A fast paced read that kept me interested throughout as we saw multiple stories interconnect from 10 years in the past and the present.

The main character Cassie fled an abusive marriage and returned to the life she had fled 10 years ago due to a tragedy. She becomes a part of the Search and Rescue team, (SAR) that she was a part of 10 years prior, she left that team because she found her best friend dead after a climbing accident. Now she is reliving the past, trying to escape the present, and find herself again.

Jada and Petal are other women whose stories are told throughout the book and it keeps the story moving and you guessing at what will be next.

I didn’t see the twists coming and overall really enjoyed the book.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Have You Seen Her
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Author: Catherine McKenzie

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Atria Books and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: Equipped with a burner phone and a new job, Cassie Peters has left her hectic and secretive life in New York City for the refuge of her hometown of Mammoth Lakes, California.

My Thoughts: This story is about two deaths decades apart. Cassie is armed with a burner phone and is rejoining the search and rescue team after ten years away, you know that she is running from something, as it appears that most of the residents from Yosemite National Park, which is delivered slowly throughout the novel. A definite compelling atmospheric thriller that will keep you guessing.

The story is told in an alternating past and present deadline, there is sprinkled diary entries of Petal, which gives a true feel of the inside of her mind, and also sprinkled in are social media posts/videos. The vibe is a true crime novel. The author does an amazing job at detailing the location, you really felt like you were there at Yosemite National Park, you can tell the author spent a lot of time researching this for the novel. The characters were well developed with depth, mystery, were secretive, and were intriguing. The author’s writing style was complex, suspenseful, twisty, and creative. The author did a stellar job with the flow and pace of the story, delivering the plot in twisty layers, and that ending was great, leaving open the possibility for another novel, or is it the end?

I was hoping more for the ending, but it may have been that way for a reason. A little more into Cassie’s background would have been helpful to get her where she is today, as well. This was an enjoyable read with suspenseful tension that kept me on my toes. I would recommend this book to other readers.

Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for a review.

I have enjoyed Catherine McKenzie's books in the past but this one just felt okay for me. It was quite the slow burn; I felt like it took a long before you begin to find anything pertinent about the main character or care about her at all. The execution of the final reveal felt too far out of left field and I was very confused thinking I had missed something until more information was revealed. Clever but not the best execution. I definitely like McKenzie's writing style though and will continue to read her books.

Good story of a woman escaping her husband for fear of abuse back to her old job and life as a search and rescue person. Some suspense, some unexpected twists.
