WOW! What a fast paced, thrilling book! First Lisa Jewell book, and I can't wait to read more. Loved the podcast, netflix series & different POVs along with short chapters. Quick read and keeps you guessing till the end. Just a fantastic suspenseful book with so many dark twists!

Holy moly, the title says “None of This is True” yet here I am still trying to determine what was true. The title is perfect for this book, and the story is a perfect example of a psychological thriller. Lies. deception, tension, suspense, unreliable characters plus a dark and twisty plot equals one wild ride. The format made the story even better. Part of the story is told through a podcast, along with transcripts of a Netflix documentary which foreshadows what’s to come, which gets the reader even more invested into the story. I found myself thinking things like “What are you thinking?” and “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” multiple times, as if the characters could really hear me. Jewell does an amazing job building suspense and keeping the reader wanting more; which made it a very quick and enjoyable read.

It definitely left a lasting impression and has me reflecting…
—Trust no one.
—Question everything.
—Things aren’t always what they seem.

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC in return for an honest review.

This book has crack in it! I just know it 🤣 I could not put this one down! Once I actually sat down with this one I just kept going! The storyline and concept was a lot different from most of Lisa Jewel’s books but it was a hit for me. I loved how it was about a podcast that was then turned in to a Netflix series! I mean that just happens a lot now so I really thought it was perfect for the book! I feel like with the title and ending you could walk away from this book feeling different each time you read it. Definitely deserving of all five stars!

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley. My jaw is still dropped after finishing this book. WOW at first I thought it was more literary thriller as the beginning was a bit slow but adds into the fast nature as events begin to unravel, This book had me going back and forth with who to believe and it was one I won’t be able to stop thinking about. The writing, the podcast format and the characters are all top notch. What a thriller

Another unstoppable thriller from Jewell. From the first word to the last word, readers will be drawn into an unsettling, dark, and twisty story. The book starts a bit slow, but it does not take long before it picks up like a runaway train, barreling ahead to an awesome unexpected ending that will leave readers questioning things all over again. Sequel?

As usual, Jewell gives us a real page turner. About halfway through I was like yeah I think I know it’s gonna happen. I think I know the plot oh man I’ve had too many of these thrillers. But the ending oh, the ending., I’m not wondering what happened but I really think happened?

It's all right there in the title—NONE OF THIS IS TRUE!—yet Lisa Jewell's latest manages to be unpredictable, thoroughly unsettling, and utterly delicious from the first page to the very last. I couldn't put it down.

So grateful for the early Netgalley read: Domestic suspense fans, this one is a must for your list!

Brilliant on every level. The story alternates between seamstress Josie and podcaster Alix, whose lives couldn't be more different. When Josie discovers Alix is her "birthday twin" and convinces her to make Josie the subject of her next podcast, dark revelations about Josie's unorthodox family history come to light, and neither woman's life will ever be the same. I read the bulk of NONE OF THIS IS TRUE in one ravenous 5-hour sitting, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Can I preface this by saying this is the first book I was approved for on NetGalley and I was *ridiculously* excited? Moving on, Lisa Jewell is a master of her craft, and this dark and disturbing psychological thriller will pull you right along until you reach the very last page. (Not to mention make you look *doubly* askance at anyone wearing more than one piece of denim clothing at the same time.)

The novel begins when Josie, a part-time seamstress, and Alix, a popular podcaster, celebrate their 45th birthdays at the same restaurant and discover their “birthday twins.” (This phrase seems fun and sweet now, but wait until you finish the book!) What follows is a riveting story of stalking, grooming and gaslighting that keeps you guessing at every moment. You never quite know who you can trust, and there so many moments of low-level tingly weirdness that give you the impression something is VERY effed up, until the full dysfunctional disaster-mess is revealed.

The title is 💯 accurate, so consider yourself warned and dive in to this impeccably paced thriller. (Also… I’m not sure of course, but I think we’ve been set up for a sequel?? If so, I’ll absolutely read it!)

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Atria books for a copy of this novel in exchange for my opinion.

Wow! This book is a crazy ride and I didn't want to put it down! This is my my first book by Jewell and now I want to read more! I love the format where there are pieces of the later Netflix special that drop tantalizing hints mixed into the narrative. The title already makes you want to doubt everything and Jewell does a great job making you keep guessing who and what are truthful. I adored going on this crazy book journey! The pacing was perfect and getting bits of the story parsed out by different characters that conflicted with other bits was great and kept me engaged and guessing all throughout.
Big thanks to Netgalley and Atria Books for this advance copy for review.

I am truly baffled as to how Lisa Jewell writes great book after great book!!!! Her stories never fail to hook me from the start. I was mesmerized reading about Josie and her dysfunctional family. She meets Alix on their shared birthday and approaches her wanting to do share her life on Alix’s podcast. She has a fascinating story. But who can decide what’s true and what’s fabricated? Excellent from beginning to end!

If you love thrillers or are interested in starting thrillers, this would be perfect for you! Lisa Jewell is an amazing author and her plots are always amazing! This story was so good and the twists were so unexpected! I highly recommend this book!!! It was so good!! The only reason I didn’t give it a higher rating is because I did expect the plot twist and guessed the ending. It was a really good ending for sure though!!

“𝑺𝒉𝒆’𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆. 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍.”

Lisa Jewell is an author who always delivers compulsively readable domestic suspense novels; her latest does not disappoint.

I loved this story of two women, Alix and Josie, who are ‘birthday twins’ and come into each other’s lives at a time when both of them are desperately seeking connection. Both points of view help rack up the tension, as Josie reveals more and more unsettling details about her life. Josie Fair is one of the most oddly fascinating characters Jewell has ever created. When an author can come up with a way to make the podcast trope feel a little new and inventive, I’m always pleasantly surprised. Jewell explores Alix making the podcast about Josie, and then turns the podcast on its head by throwing in elements from the Netflix adaptation of said podcast - I thought the scripts were a great way to give peeks and flash forwards of what was to come. Jewell is a master at building suspense that keeps you captivated the whole time, especially as she tackles some pretty dark themes, and I always appreciate her interesting vocabulary that succinctly describes a character’s emotion (like using the word ‘antipathy’ to describe Nathan’s feelings towards Josie). At first I felt like the ending needed a slight bit more “oomph,” but the more I reflected on it, the more I realized it fits so well with the themes of trust and truth.

None Of This Is True is a story of connection, empathy, power and control. It is dark, addictive, and mysterious; this is Lisa Jewell at her best. Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for the ARC!

3.5 stars

I was hooked reading this because I had no idea where it was going.. I loved and despised the 2 MCs at the same time. They were completely unreliable and kept me guessing

I really enjoyed the Netflix/Podcast tie-in and think this'll be really good on audio

I really wish there was more closure at the ending... which version is the truth?!

Huge thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review!

Ok! This was pretty dang good. It moved fast and I blew through it in one day. It’s one of those “how is this going to unfold” stories (like, you already know where things are going), vs “what’s going to happen” type thrillers. I liked that there were some surprises and I like the story mixed with podcast and documentary excerpts. Good read for sure! Gets a yes from me!

4.5 ⭐️ - I LOVED this! My favorite Lisa Jewell novel yet! From the way it was written, to how it leaves you with so much anxiety after every single chapter - it was such an adrenaline rush. I couldn’t have flew through this faster if I tried. Trust me when I say, you won’t want to put this one down!

Now I really want to see this screenplay be brought to Netflix in real life, anyone else?! It would be a hit! 😍

None of This is True is my first Lisa Jewell novel and I can promise that I’ll be back for many more. I devoured this book in one day while on a beach vacation. I couldn’t get enough. I even blew off my dinner plans with my friends just so I could continue to read this captivating story.

DESCRIPTION: “Lisa Jewell returns with a scintillating new psychological thriller about a woman who finds herself the subject of her own popular true crime podcast.

Celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summer crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins.”

The story is told in parts in a NetFlix documentary format and I loved it! It was deliciously twisty and dark which I love. Both characters, especially Josie, were unreliable narrators and it worked so well here.

Lisa Jewell is a new to me author but you can be assured I’ll be checking out her backlist and all of her upcoming novels.

*Thanks so much to Atria Books and NetGalley for the early eGalley!*

This is by far my favorite Lisa Jewel book. I loved the format of it being told through different characters, the pod cast and the NetFlix. It really moved the story and kept my interest. It was so twisty turny and even when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. There were so many shocking things and a few I could not have guessed in a million years! An excellent book!

Thank you @NetGalley and @atriabooks for gifting me early access to #NonofThisisTrue by @LisaJewell. This book will be available August 8, 2023 and you’ll definitely want a copy!

Every page of this book has you questioning what is really true. Was Josie, a housewife and mother, guilty of what she’d been accused of? Were her daughters involved? Told in a narrative timeline with podcast interviews sprinkled in, Alix - a podcast host- tries to get to the truth which comes at a great cost.

This is a page-turner of a twisty read! Definitely recommend
