So here’s the deal. After a necessary reading hiatus I turned to a tried and true favorite author and, sure enough, completely devoured this book! Lisa Jewell, you are an actual gem. This book is so unique in premise and style and a page turner to boot.
Alix and Josie meet for the first time on the night of their 45th birthday. Their worlds could not be more different and this is exactly what draws them to each other. When Josie learns that Alix is an up and coming podcaster, she pitches an opportunity too good for Alix to turn down (despite the ever-growing presence of red flags). As Alix gains more insight into the twists and turns of Josie’s story, she must decide how deep she is willing to dig and how much to truly believe.
In the same fashion of Big Little Lies, readers are given two times lines- the beginning and the end both converging to a shocking middle. The forward moving plot is told by our two main characters and the details of all that goes wrong are told through the transcripts of a Netflix docuseries- an element that I found fun and brilliant.
Thank you @atriabooks and @netgalley for the ARC- this was any thriller lover’s dream! Coming August 2023.

Truly Jewell at her very best! This is a taut, diabolical domestic suspense. I ran the gamut of emotions and was kept guessing at every turn. Truly well crafted and my new favorite in the genre!

My only question…sequel?

I’ve read most of Lisa’s books and every time I say the latest is my fave, but they just get even better.

Since we are still months away from the US Pub release, I’ll keep this review short and say that I was completely engaged in the storyline, the intricate details of the characters lives and the pacing was perfect. It was just everything I love in a domestic thriller and my reading heart is so happy. I just have a bit of a book hangover now.

Thank you so much to @atriabooks for the #gifted copy

Two women meet as they each celebrate their 45th birthdays and realize they are birthday twins, also having been born in the same hospital. Despite their similar beginnings each woman’s life took different directions. Alix has a podcast which features successful women who overcame challenges. She lives with her husband who adores her but has a drinking problem and their two young children. Josie works part time as a seamstress. She is the mom of two troubled young women and wife of a man 30 years older than she. A few days after their chance encounter, Josie approaches Alix with an idea for a new podcast project and things start to get dark.

This book started strong and had a good pace that kept me engaged. The author build the story slowly sprinkling in a few details that are not completely explained. It found myself thinking “wait, what?” and rereading in a good way. It builds at a nice pace, and then a big WTF moment happens that changes everything. The plot lives up to the title and left me wondering what exactly was true and untrue. I did feel the end fizzled out a bit, but overall a great story that will keep you guessing!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I was quite disappointed in this book and had the hardest time even getting through the beginning of it. The story lacked the caliber of this author's usual level. I tried to see where the story was going but found it hard to follow. I hope other readers have a better experience with this book. I have enjoyed numerous other books by this author, this one was just not one of them.

I loved this book! Lisa Jewell never disappoints! I loved the twists and turns and didn't see some things coming! The character build was fantastic and it was fun rooting for certain characters then flipping to hating them! Will definitely recommend this book to friends!

3.5 stars, but rounding up for this domestic thriller about two women who share the same birthday but little else. Alix Summer is a stunning blond, a minor celebrity podcaster with an Instagram perfect home, two adorable children and a seemingly happy marriage. Josie Fair first notices Alix celebrating her birthday as she is out to dinner with her much older husband, and she is magnetically drawn to this glamorous, successful woman...who she later calls her "birthday twin".
Josie is mousy and poor, working as a seamstress and hating her dull existence...until she manages to infiltrate Alix's world, convincing her that she should be the subject of a new podcast.
I won't give away much more of the plot, but readers should be aware that it deals with dark topics such as child and spousal abuse. The tale of one woman becoming obsessed by another is hardly new territory, but this was still a gripping page turner.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced readers copy in return for my review.

This book was a 3.5. It was good, I read it in a day, it was intriguing but I felt that build up was a little too slow. And I wanted more from the characters emotions. That being said it was totally a 'she-said vs she-said' and it was twisty and dark and I think that a lot of people will love this book.

None of This is True was truly captivating. The pacing, the plot development, and the character development was simply phenomenal. I was truly amazed with how Josie flourished in this novel. I truly have no words. This felt unlike anything Lisa Jewell has done before and she nailed it. A beautiful novel.

this book is slow and steady. creepy as in you don’t know what’s going on/who to believe. it definitely gave me verity vibes (as in you don’t know who to believe at the end of the book). so conflicted !!!

thank you netgalley for an ARC of this one! what a fun ride

Josie Fair needs to change her life. Her children are grown and no longer need her and her husband is an older man and losing some of the appeal she once felt. For her 45th birthday, she decides that they should do something different and go to a new trendy restaurant where she meets Alix Summers, her birthday twin. Josie becomes obsessed with Alix and her life but more importantly, the fact that Alix has a popular podcast. Josie decides she will change her life but wants Alix to document her story, change, and truth… But what is the truth

I loved the premise of the story but it did drag a bit in parts. I am a fan of Lisa Jewell but “None of This is True” didn’t hold my attention as her past novels did. It is still an enjoyable read and I give it 3 stars. I want to thank NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy in exchange for this honest review.

Wow, I absolutely loved this book ! My fave LJ so far. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't put it down. I loved the dual narratives of the two MCs alternated with the podcast/documentary transcripts. I loved the twists that keep you guessing until the end, even if you've figured out some parts, there's more to it than you think. She's created a deliciously twisted story that you won't be able to put down until you find out what really happened... but then, do you really?!

Wow! A real page-turner with lots of twists and turns and creepy characters. Josie is the perfect example of there are three sides to every story, yours, theirs, and the truth.

Where to begin… 😳

Lisa Jewell is most definitely one of my favorite authors so you can imagine my excitement when I saw that I was approved to read her latest book 4 months before it’s publication date. 🥳🤩 I have heard ONLY amazing things so I was anxious to see if it was going to live up the hype that’s been around it. I will tell you a THOUSAND times YES, yes it does. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Get ready for an insanely wild & dark ride. I finished this book in under 48 hours. I had to know who the heck Josie Fair really was & how far she was going to go to become a part of Alix’s life. I needed to know her motives, if she was telling the truth, & why she was the way that she was. This book had a sinister vibe the entire time that kept me feeling uneasy & questioning everything being said. Who should I believe? Who was actually telling the truth? What is REALLY going on in the Fair household?! Will Alix & her family make it out of this twisted friendship unscathed? You’ll have to read this one to find out because 🤯🤯🤯!!

Psychological thriller lovers. Mark your calendar for this upcoming August release.

Alix (podcaster) and Josie (seamstress), two women born on the same day and in the same hospital, find themselves celebrating their 45th birthdays at the same restaurant (woah!). This meeting of birthday twins sets into motion a creep factor that you won’t be able to shake until the final page.

Following their restaurant encounter, Josie approaches Alix about being the subject on her podcast (she has done her research). Through a series of podcast interviews Josie tells Alix her layered and complicated life story. Like a moth to a flame, Alix allows herself to continue despite sensing the presence of danger ahead.

Each chapter rotates perspectives, and you’re never quite sure what is true. Over the course of the series, Josie becomes increasingly entangled in Alix’s life … which ultimately leads to Alix becoming the topic of her own true crime podcast😲.

This is one of Jewell’s best. It’s gripping and you’ll be able to focus on little else. I was in a fevered state racing to the end of this book. Twisted and fast-paced, it was easy to get lost in the story. It will have you completely unsure where you are headed.

❕That said, be warned, the subject matter is not light, and includes grooming/pedophilia and abuse, among others. Descriptions were not detailed, but the topics were woven throughout.

I know I can always count on Lisa to come out with a great book and this one was definitely a hit. You are filled with tons of twists in this one and are hooked from page one until the very end. You get two women with the same exact birthdays, in same location, same age, what a coincidence.. Josie and Alix both were really unique and odd in their own ways so reading between the two of them was fun and interesting. Of course they both have secrets and Josie is for sure one of them and portraying herself as who she should be. You never know what to expect next when reading this and that is what I liked! Cant go wrong with a Lisa Jewell Book!

Holy crap! What did I just read? Those characters are horrible—all of them—but I couldn’t put this down. Maybe it’s because I love true crime dramas, I don’t know, but the intricate events of this story are creepy as shit.

None of This is True by Lisa Jewell contained many twists and turns! It was hard to tell what was the truth or the characters' version of it. As the reader, I was sympathetic of certain characters until the story was turned upside down. I knew a twist was coming, but it was difficult to see how it would unfold. Jewell leaves no thread hanging by the end, and it is tied up nicely, as usual. I was excited to get a copy of this and wasn't disappointed at all!
