I received a complimentary copy from Bethany House and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This is a fake-dating rom-com that is set in Hollywood. It tells the story of Nevaeh who is a hairstylist but hates the spotlight and her employer Hollywood A-lister Lamont Booker whose world is turned upside down. The hairstylist and the heartthrob are caught in a compromising situation and are then forced to fake date. It's a romance book for Christians. It's well written , characters are relatable and the romance cute

It was the sweetness of the book for me. I loved it. I read 85% of the book in a sitting.
It was an absolute delight. I loved how the author infused faith throughout the story. It really was uplifting and inspiring.

I saw the themes of identity, honesty illustrated so beautifully. Toni Shiloh sure outdid herself in this one.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

What a fun story! This one had me laughing and in tears, just not at the same time. Nevaeh is a sweetheart and I loved her relationships and how loving and kind she was.

Lamont started out as an arrogant and self absorbed character, but he quickly became captivated by Nevaeh’s heart and really grew into his faith. I adore his guy pals—they were two of my favorite characters!

I enjoyed The Love Script and I can hardly wait to see what Shiloh creates next!

Neveah is a hair stylist hoping to land a job on a big film someday, and one of her current clients is the mother of movie star Lamont. When a paparazzi catches a photo of Lamont catching a stumbling Neveah as she leaves the home Lamont and his mother share, his Christian values are questioned. His agent proposes a fake dating arrangement, but neither of them are comfortable with the lie. They decide to date for real with no obligation if they decide they feel nothing for each other. Insert paparazzi everywhere Neveah goes, a job offer out of the country that seems too good to pass up, great text threads with his best friends, and two great families, and you get The Love Script.

I thought this was a fresh spin on fake dating since the miscommunication element was removed from the equation. They were both on the same page from date one as to whether it was real or a game, and I liked that. However, removing the “fake” from fake dating also took away some of the tension, and the romance was a bit lackluster for me personally. Overall, I did enjoy reading this and I definitely think this is one that closed door/kissing only fans would enjoy.

Thank you to Bethany House for a gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

First Toni Shiloh book but it probably won't be my last. The story was thoroughly enjoyable and fun. The character development was great. The faith content was thought-provoking. Overall a very satisfying read. Looking forward to reading more of this new-to-me author!

The Love Script may be about a red-carpet romance, but the way Toni Shiloh writes it is so relatable. I could gush about the romance and how the "fake" dating turned into the main characters falling in love-and trust me, that was swoon-worthy. But for me, the biggest takeaway from this book was the faith element.

"Churches weren't perfect and weren't meant to be. Like my mom had told me, they were a place for sinners in need of a Savior and run by redeemed sinners. There were bound to be issues with that combination. But when I took the time to focus on the Lord and not my comforts, it made all the difference in the world."

Nevaeh and Lamont are both Christians, but they are both at different parts of their faith journey. I liked that the author showed that even when we feel like our Christian walk is going well, we still will have problems and need to seek Jesus. We will have doubts, and we still mess up. Mountains and valleys. The main characters find themselves in a situation where their reputations could be ruined. They choose not to "lie" by fake dating, and instead actually date. However, they are still stretching the truth in their relationship. Eventually, they each realize that they didn't fully trust God to get them through the situation. This causes both of them to seek truth and forgiveness in the end.

Each of the characters made mistakes throughout the book, but what I enjoyed was that they sought out advice from people who would hold them accountable. Lamont's friends and Ms. Rosie were shining stars as supporting cast. Lamont often went to his friends, Chris and Tuck, for prayer. And equally as important, they checked on him throughout the journey. **I cannot wait to hear their stories!** Ms. Rosie had a way of putting Lamont in his place with boldness, grace, and motherly love. There is also a special scene between Nevaeh and Ms. Rosie where she imparts spiritual wisdom.

Toni Shiloh writes authentic and faith-filled sweet romances. And I usually walk away with a sense of encouragement. The Love Script was no different. Life is hard and messy sometimes. It's my trust that God will see me through, and Jesus is my Savior that gets me through each day.

This was such an enjoyable story. I loved that while Naveah is beautiful, she isn't the typical starlet type. As Lamont gets to know her, he sees her true value, and the beauty of her heart. This tips the usual Hollywood story on its head with delightful results. I received a copy of this book from the publisher as part of a launch team. These are my honest thoughts and opinions

✨Review - ‘The Love Script’ by Toni Shiloh

A paparazzo catches Hollywood heartthrob Lamont on camera in a seemingly compromising (yet completely innocent) situation with Neveah, his mom’s hair stylist, when he grasps her around the waist to keep her from tripping. To save both their reputations, they begin a very public fake relationship. But what happens when that fake dating arrangement starts to play on your conscience?

This book is scoring incredibly high on Goodreads, so I’m in the minority here in not loving it. I enjoyed that it was fast paced, and the relationship was cute enough, if a bit predictable. And I did appreciate the commentary on sabbath and church attendance. I think I was thrown off right from the beginning when the public called into question Lamont’s Christian faith just because he was photographed with a pretty girl in his arms. And while the author makes it clear that Lamont’s celibate lifestyle was very important to his personal faith journey and the public image he has created for himself, the media outcry just seemed like a bit of a stretch to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ As someone who has experienced the negative effects of purity culture, it was also a bit triggering to be honest. A modest amount of physical contact (such as a man’s hands on a woman’s waist) does not and should not automatically imply that the couple is sexually active.

As always, a huge thanks to @bethanyhousefiction for a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. And as always, huge kudos to the design team for a gorgeous cover!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It's interesting how the characters face their problems from Christian perspectives. Nevaeh and Lamont were relatable characters (even though Lamont was a big-shot movie star) and I found myself rooting for them!
I would love to read more about Tuck and Piper, and Chris and have high hopes for more from Toni Shiloh!
This was a sweet read, I'd rate PG for kissing.

I really enjoyed this book! It was a fun, light read with a strong faith element. Lamont was a sweet male main character, strong in his faith and decisions he made in Hollywood. Neveah was less settled in her convictions. She was a likable character, but I wish she hadn’t made some of the decisions she did. In the end, it all worked out! I liked her, but just not as much as Lamont. And my only complaint about the book was how long it took them to decide to lie. I wish they would’ve decided in a chapter instead of the two to four it took. In the end, I understand why, but I still wanted it faster.

I can’t wait to see where the rest of the story goes. Overall, this was a wonderful faith-based story. I am so excited to see the rest of the characters get their own stories.

I loved this book! It’s pretty rare to see a book take place in Los Angeles in Christian Fiction. The Author does an incredible job transporting the reader to La La Land and maintaining a theme of faith. The ending was my favorite and made me go “awe”. I look forward to moving across the U.S. to follow Lamont’s friends. Lamont and Neveah have amazing banter and I just loved the movie quotes teased throughout the book!

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.

I really enjoyed this story! I'm excited to see it's the first in a series--I wasn't sure offhand, and hoped!

I definitely had mixed feelings about the main characters' plan of attack at first (and I think readers are supposed to, haha). Shiloh did a great job at addressing it throughout the read! I would have liked to see a tad bit more of Nevaeh's "action items" post climax--we saw a lot of Lamont's, which was great, but not as much for Nevaeh. So it goes, though!

This was a pretty quick read; once I started reading in earnest, I was done in about a day and a half, haha! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Faith-Filled Romance

I have read plenty of books with the fake dating trope, but Toni Shiloh manages to put a new spin on it. This book has plenty of sweet romance, but also explores what it truly means to trust God in all areas of your life, even when it seems like things are falling apart. It challenged and encouraged my faith. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Witty, romantic, adorable, and unabashedly faith-filled, The Love Script ticks all the right boxes for this rom-com lover! There's not a lot I can add that hasn't been mentioned by other reviewers already—from the way he treats his mother and Nevaeh to her fights with shapewear and her feelings, it's just all around a great read. I can't wait for the follow on books with Lamont's friends.

The Love Script is a lovely spin on the fake dating trope! You’ve got a megastar in the spotlight and a hair stylist who prefers to be behind the scenes. Him, voted Sexiest Man Alive, her with curves that don’t fit the Hollywood norm.

Thrown together by a sticky situation, neither Navaeh or Lamont wants to lie, but faking a relationship seems like the only answer. So they decide to start dating to see what happens, but the shadow of their initial deception threatens to throw doubt on the real feelings that emerge as they get to know one another.

Well done, Toni Shiloh, for writing books that make me think and convict me a little bit! As Christians, it’s easy to avoid the big lies, but what about the little white ones? Doesn’t God take those just as seriously? And why do we feel like we need them sometimes when we should just trust Him to work things out instead?

This book was sprinkled with humor and fantastic dialogue and memorable characters. It’s so funny and yet serious at the same time, as it brings up topics to ruminate on, like the impact of lies, thoughts on church attendance and worship, and the value of purity in dating relationships in a culture that is flabbergasted by the thought.

I’m very much looking forward to the rest of this series!

"Nevaeh not wanting to be compensated for their new relationship had him part thankful and part wary. Was it a trick? Would she flip the script on him? He could only pray that she was the real deal."

Nevaeh felt her job was her calling. Being a hairdresser to the stars may not be for everyone, but she loved helping women look and feel their best. She likes her life out of the Hollywood spotlight. But all of this changes when she is caught in what looks like a compromising moment with one of the screen's hottest stars, everything changes. Can she help make everything right without losing her integrity?

I am fan of Toni's books, and I really feel like she made this title shine. One of the most important themes is more of a question. If someone lives the public life of a movie star, should their private life be under scrutiny? Particularly if they want to play more conservative roles? If paparazzi purposefully misinterpret a situation, should the actor need to be defensive? How can one tell the difference between what is real and what is fake? Are white lies ever acceptable, especially if we make them become the truth?

One minor theme that plays a part in the book is the role of caregiving. How can we show love to those who are closest to us in a tangible way? How can we trust God even if a person we love chooses a different path or is going through struggles beyond our control?

While the book addresses more serious topics like that abstinence is possible and what honesty really means, there is also plenty of humor. One of my favorite parts were the text message threads between Lamont and two of his friends. Though they are light-hearted, the author still promotes the importance of living in community and with accountability through the threads.

I did read an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. I have read many of this author's books, and I really wanted to read this title. Now I can't wait to read the next two books in the series. All opinions are my own.

Toni Shiloh has done it again!!! “The Love Script” was a PHENOMENAL Christian romance with tons of faith content and swoony moments!!❤️ Toni is truly an expert at interweaving faith elements into her stories and showing readers what an active relationship with God looks like🙏🏻 The lively prayer life of both main characters both nurtured my soul and encouraged my faith!! I also loved how both characters handled the “fake dating” aspect of their relationship & repeatedly prayed to the Lord for wisdom about whether or not it would be considered “lying” to pretend to be in a relationship. Seeing both characters strive to do right by the Lord was so refreshing to read!!

I also REALLY appreciated how abstinence was highlighted in this story!! Reading both main character’s testimonies about the importance of saving intimacy for marriage was beautiful, powerful, & inspiring!!❤️🙏🏻

And the HUMOR in this book!! I absolutely adored Nevaeh’s sense of humor & use of sarcasm😂🩷 Her banter with Lamont was fantastic😂👏🏼

Lastly, I just have to say Toni KNOWS how to write a villain… that Nora… I had a hard time not wanting to tell her to take a long walk off a short pier🫣😳😅😂😂😂 JUST KIDDING!! (mostly🤭) #iykyk

The Love Script by Toni Shiloh is the first in a new series Love in the Spotlight. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to date a movie star? Sure it would be glamorous & you would get to eat at the trendiest places in town, but would you want it at the cost of a lie? Nevaeh Richards is a hair stylist working in LA. She loves her job and has a passion for making people shine. One day, a photograph goes public of her and movie star Lamont Booker that appears to show he might not be sticking to his christian values. Is Lamont a hypocrite? It was an innocent photograph but then Lamont's publisher starts pushing for them to fake a romance to save Lamont's reputation as being the christian golden boy of Hollywood. Nevaeh and Lamont start dating to tell the public they are dating. A great way to start a relationship. As things progress, their relationship status turns from friends to really dating. Can their relationship survive when it all started as a lie?
I enjoyed reading this book sooooo much! I literally couldn't stop. I was drawn into Lamont's and Nevaeh's world. I loved their families and their friends. I'm so looking forward to book #2. It was cleverly written and really bought questions to the forefront of feeling like you don't belong or if church is important etc. I loved how Nevaeh really began to explore her faith and what it meant to her. It made me think about things that were much more important than a fictional story. Though, it was a great story! I also loved the epilogue as we all know how I love epilogues. This one doesn't disappoint. I know it left me crying happy tears and the biggest smile on my face. I was given a copy, but all opinions are my very own.
