Really liked the set up for this but in execution unfortunately it didn't work for me. I do want to continue trying baxter's other related works because iu always love an uber competent and smart herione.

Taken as a whole, The Baronet’s Lady Biologist is a perfectly satisfactory book; it gets the job done in giving us a regency romance between a lady biologist and a man who loves her for her mind and personality as well as her beauty. That said, I felt there were a few elements of the story that were executed better than others.

Firstly, I really enjoyed the nods to Jane Austen, especially the Pride and Prejudice-esque way in which Georgiana and Giles’ antagonism begins. I think that the book cleverly executes the enemies-to-lovers trope in having the relationship start off on bad footing because both parties make hasty assumptions about the other and hold on to those prejudices longer than they should.
I also enjoyed the way in which a political mystery plot is woven into the romance; Georgiana and Giles’ relationship is complicated by rumors of a plot to free Napoleon from his island prison, which give the characters a nice outside problem to deal with while they untangle their personal feelings toward one another.

A small disappointment: While we get a few descriptions of pretty moths and butterflies, I wish we had gotten some more detailed nerd-outs from the characters over scientific discoveries regarding insect biology. I would have found that really interesting, but the entomological content in the narrative was only superficial.

Additionally, the character writing at times struggled a little. Giles’ POV chapters had a tendency to over-explain his feelings and motivations. The transition from liking into love felt a little sudden and clinical in both characters, but perhaps that had to do with the fact that a) they are both scientifically minded and b) this is a very historically accurate, and quite clean, regency courtship romance. There is, however, one rather thrilling kiss which nonetheless seemed a little out of character for the initiator.

I really enjoyed, however, the way in which Georgiana’s character flaw lies in her over-rationality as a defense mechanism against possibly painful emotions. The way in which her character grows and develops over her Season in London is really lovely to see, especially as she has a really lovely cast of supporting (and supportive!) characters around her.

While I wish that the science had been a little more prominent and the character narration less self-conscious, I did very much enjoy this romance and plan to read the previous installments in Baxter’s Linfield Lady series. This book works perfectly well as a standalone, but I’d like to see some more of these romantic heroines with unconventional interests finding romance, especially as they are written in such a clearly well-researched historical backdrop. I would definitely recommend this title to fans of regency romance.

This is the third book in The Linfield Ladies series. I enjoyed the last book of the series I read and was eager to read this one, and I was not disappointed. Georgiana loves biology, but that is not the only interest she has. She longs to travel the world and explore science. When she enters the London season, she is determined to find a husband that will let her fulfill her wish. Sir George shares the same interest as Georgiana, and is intrigued by her. Georgiana is also attracted to him, and they begin to bond over their shared interests. But soon misunderstandings make their way into their growing relationship and complicate things a bit.
I enjoyed the story and found this to be a very charming read. The story was well-written and the characters were lovely. This was the perfect Regency read and I look forward to reading the next installment.

Sir Giles and Georgiana clashed from their first encounter. She worked with his uncle on a project and Sir Giles was given the impression the Georgiana was going to marry his uncle and inherit from him. This caused further discord between the two of them. This was a very enjoyable reading experience. Kudos to the author! I would love to read more of your writing.

3.5 stars. Yet another book in which the hero thinks the absolute worst of the heroine. This book was well-written, but I have read so many new historical romances using this trope as of late, and I am sick of it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this one! Loved the synopsis for this one, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I became immersed within the book. This is book 3 of the Linfield Ladies' series. However, I did not read the previous novels in this series, but that did not deter me in my understanding or enjoyment of reading this book.

I really liked Georgiana and her story. I cannot wait to go back and read the rest of this series, but I am also curious as to who will be next. I know where my vote stands!

Ms. Baxter has a lovely way of writing and pulling you into her stories. It was a pleasure to read about Georgiana and Giles and their path to their HEA. And what a way to meet, over butterflies. Butterflies are so beautiful and full of love. Great way to fall in love with your forever mate.

Immersed in her butterfly studies, Georgiana dreads the London Season. While she recognises the need to marry, she is painfully aware that marriage may be the end of her hopes of travel - and the biological studies that mean so much to her. Accordingly, she turns her back on the idea of love and decides to look around for a future husband she'll be able to control. And Sir Giles, even ignoring them having got off on the wrong foot with each other, is certainly not that! But he's commissioned her to illustrate his new collection of South American butterflies, so she can't avoid him altogether. As she sees more of him, though, she starts to wonder whether what she thought she wanted is really what she wants. But will her decision come too late?

It's always interesting when historical fiction incorporates specific bits of history, and it's something that feels relatively rare in Regency fiction (I'm not counting the setting and background here - though I definitely want them to be accurate). This book includes a historical female biologist and one or two other fragments, which I found interesting (thanks to the historical note). More than that, though, the book is well written and clean, and has characters I enjoyed getting to know. I can't say that I really sympathised with Georgiana's initial attitude towards marriage, but I did like watching her change that view to something more sensible. Also, some of the interactions between Georgiana and Giles were quite amusing. The plot itself was a little predictable at times but not in a bad way - and still managed to surprise me occasionally. Summary: I enjoyed it and look forward to more by the author.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

An enjoyable story about two people who are perfect for each other but due to misunderstandings mostly caused by Sir Giles and his bad temper I have to say it takes a while for them to come to this conclusion. My first book by this author and I will be going back to find more. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the 3rd book of The Ladies of Linfield series, it can be read as stand alone. My first in this series and this book is good. I laugh at misunderstood in this book and wonder why Sir Giles always jump in bad conclusion about Georgiana. No wonder Georgiana put distant and build high wall. After understand the problem, Sir Giles who really have attraction for her always make a chance to encounter, like the lovesick puppy. But when misjudge happend again..i wish Georgiana not give him a chance anymore, his hot and cold really annoying. I enjoy the story but suddenly the story pivote to goverment thing, like whattt i didnt see that coming.

Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.
