"You know it's hot out when goths start wearing purple." This direct quote is one of the many sad attempts to create humor in Oh My Goth: Jokes for When You Feel Dead Inside by Andrew Shaffer. The so-called jokes aren't really funny. The witticisms aren't all that witty. I feel as though I should apologize to the Hot Topic clerks mentioned in the synopsis because even they deserve better than bland goth-dad jokes.
"Some people are such treasures that you just want to bury them." That's precisely what I'd like to do with this book, unfortunately, I can't because I received a digital review copy. I may not be able to bury it, but I can delete it and try to forget I ever read it.

"Q: Why won’t Trent Reznor get into Heaven?
A: Jesus hates nine-inch nails."
Oh My Goth by Andrew Shaffer is compilation of jokes for the Wednesday Addams in your life.
The chance that you've already heard most of these jokes is strong so be prepared to chuckle, snort, or roll your eyes like your wise cracking uncle just thought he made the best joke but you've already heard it a hundred times.
While these jokes are corny as hell, the novelty of it is amazing and the illustrations are a great touch. This is a quick read coming in at 96 pages, perfect for when you need to let a little light into your black heart.
Obviously if you like jokes I would recommend this one but I also think it'd make a great gift for that little black cloud in your life--A perfect coffin table book, you might say.
Thanks to Netgalley, the author & publisher for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I expected it to have more content and more original ideas.
Still, this is a fun, quick read. Aimed towards the darkly inclined but could still be read and enjoyed by most readers.

A book of goth jokes using both original work and others compiled from the internet (the author is truthful and transparent about this 👍) the same applies to images used.
I'd be interested to see how the illustrated print version turns out. As it is, we've kind of only seen half a book and it's difficult to give a true rating and review without seeing the completed work.
"I'm so goth, whenever I knock on somebody's door they give me candy."

“My grief counsellor died. He was so good, I didn’t even care.”
Andrew Shaffer brings this funny wee collection of dark jokes. These are ideal to read anytime of year. Some will have you buckled and others will have you shaking your head.
The jokes in this collection are centred around goth and death. A few I had heard of before but there were many that were new to me.
It’s a fun wee book for a quick laugh and readers will appreciate the dark humour of it all.

These were some corny jokes with a goth twist. I love these type of jokes! The artwork, samples of which were featured were gorgeous also.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this review copy

A super corny collection of goth jokes. The full pages are gorgeous, I had a chuckle at a lot of the jokes, and I can imagine this would be popular as a small gift for friends or that one family member (like me). I also loved the cover!

As soon as I saw the cover I had to click on this to see what it was all about! As a "goth kid" myself (it's not a phase lol) I was immediately drawn to the title and the cover art.
This is a short book filled with humorous jokes about goths, emo, punk, the macabre, and lets not forget those fantastically cheesy dad jokes!
The full published work is supposed to have lots of fun artwork on each page and if the samples are any indication it's going to be perfect!
I plan on purchasing this when it comes out for myself and I know the perfect person to get it as a gift for. Remember your favorite goths this year and get them to crack a smile!
Thank you, NetGalley & 8th Circle Press for this free preview of "Oh My Goth" by: Andrew Shaffer! I can't wait to purchase this one when it's on the shelves, I'm dying to see all of the artwork!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a free ARC ebook. This review is my honest opinion. Oh My Goth: Jokes for When You Feel Dead Inside is an absolutely hilarious book. It’s a compilation of goth jokes with interesting artwork included. The art provided additional laughs. As the book itself points out, it would be a great gift for anyone you know who enjoys horror and/or goth culture. In fact, I immediately went onto Amazon once I was finished reading and pre-ordered a copy for a friend of mine. I also highly recommend the book if you just want to have a good laugh.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own."
This may have been the corniest joke book in the world and I love it.
I would buy this for certain people in my life with pride.

OMG I frigging loved this. Perfect for the dark hearted, dark souled goth in your life! Witty, dark, gothic...there aren't enough words to describe the bath-winged perfection of this book.

" 'The world is indeed comic, but the joke is on mankind.' -HP Lovecraft"
Oh My Goth is humerously perfect! Some of the jokes are corny, but its nostalgic. It's a VERY QUICK read, but well worth it.
Thank you to Netgalley and 8th Circle Press for an e-ARC.

Goofy little book with a bunch of stereotypical goth dad jokes. Come for the little giggles, stay for the artwork and aesthetic.

3.5 stars. It’s difficult to review the advanced digital copy—thanks to the publisher and Netgalley—because it contains the text but only 3 examples of the fully illustrated pages. The jokes are mostly pretty good and include references to goth pop culture stables like The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, and a certain country megastar who, in the fevered imagination of fans, is apparently an icon of both goths and the LGBTQ+ community (is that redundant?). I imagine that nostalgic Elder Goths will purchase this book on the strength of the visual design

"What has four legs, a tail and flies? A dead rat."
I love the dark side to humour and this book didn't disappoint. We got some classics, dad humour (who doesn't love dad jokes) and some new ones that I will definitely use in the future. I would have enjoyed more if it was longer and I felt it suddenly ended, but it is a fun one to know how would you end a joke book, to make sure it wasn't too long or too short. I think this book will defiantly work better with illustrations, we got some examples of illustrations, I can't wait to see the published book to see all of them. I enjoy very dark humour and I personally would have enjoyed it more, if some jokes were even darker.
It is a perfect gift for someone who enjoy the darker side.
I received a copy of the book from Netgalley for an honest review.

As a closet goth that is gen x, I would say about 50% of the jokes are amusing and 25% are borderline dad jokes. That said, I would still buy the book for nostalgia reasons

I was delighted to read "Oh My Goth' written by a New York Times author. It is so funny in the Goth way of life. I want to see more from Andrew Shaffer!

Thank you, Net Gallery, for the free copy. This is a very short book on jokes about Goth culture. It is a silly book.

It wasn't a phase, mom!
As a goth/emo kid that grew into an adult with a sense of humor as dark as my wardrobe, this made my heart smile! May 22nd is not only World Goth Day, but it's my birthday too!
This is a QUICK read, but for those of us that have a love for puns, dad jokes, dark humor, and Goth/Emo, it's absolutely perfect!
"And so being young and dipped in folly I fell in love with melancholy.” - Edgar Allan Poe

This was a fun little read. Brought me back to my emo days in the early 2000s. Very nostalgic and funny.
