Mostly here for it. At the 50%, our slow burn was tooooo much slow burn. It flipped from tantalizing to frustrating.
Chapter 13 - the end was missing from my ARC??? And in the acknowledgments the working title was used.
Overall, I was underwhelmed. It started off really well, but the second half just didn’t hit the mark for me. It felt exhausting, like, can we get on with it already.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin for the ARC.
A very charming Sliding Doors-esque friends-to-lovers romance.
Gemma lives in Hamilton (Canada) and has just been dumped by her boyfriend of four years. While wallowing in self-pity, she wishes to forget all about the relationship. When she wakes up the next day, she is shocked to find she has a different apartment (a major downgrade!), her dream job (yay!), and that her best friend has no idea who she is (oh no!). While adjusting to this new scenario, Gemma begins to learn more about herself and what makes her happy. She also starts to love this new parallel universe. Would it be so bad if she stayed?
This was such a fun read. There is great chemistry between the leads and fun supporting characters. Gemma is easy to like and Dax is wonderful. I enjoyed learning more about curling as well! Recommended to anyone looking for a funny, emotional, open-door romance that explores “What if…”
Thank you very much to Random House and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy.
