Get ready this summer for this fast paced bingeable thriller ! I read this in about two sittings. It was hard to put down. I stayed up late reading to find out what happened to Summer and Leo on their chaotic time on Michael’s island. I loved how the author portrayed the strong friendship/bond between the two girls throughout the novel. Summer would do anything to help Leo, and things really get wild ! Lots of twists and turns. The setting of the book was great. Great descriptions of California landscape, made you feel like you were out there on the island in the nature. Perfect for a summer read. My first time reading a book by Wendy Heard. I will definitely be picking up some other books of hers soon.

Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Random Publishing- Ballatine Bantam Publishing for my Arc copy for my honest opinion

This was a first time read for with this Author, but definitely not the last time. The story was gut twisting in Every page. The ending was bittersweet to me. Thanks again for the chance to read.

This novel is taut, tense, and uncomfortable from the first page.

Summer doesn’t know when she was born or what her last name is. She led a nomadic life with her mother until her mother abandoned her when she was just 17. For years she’s made a living as a pickpocket, never staying in one place for long. Finding Leo was like finally having family. Leo is beautiful, and she plays the long con by luring older, wealthy men. Leo thinks she’s hit the big time with Michael—he’s a billionaire who is also handsome.

He takes her to his island—and she disappears. Summer she goes to the island up against the rich and powerful to get her friend back. Or at least find out what happened to her.

Kudos to Wendy Heard for such an original, suspenseful novel.

NetGalley provided an advance copy of this novel, which RELEASES JUNE 13, 2023.

Insert exploding head emoji- that about sums up my thoughts about this book. What a crazy ride! I also highly recommend reading this in one sitting. I was able to sit and read it through in a single day and I just had to finish it. The alternating storyline was so entertaining and I enjoyed hearing both girls' perspectives. Highly recommend!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

This was an entertaining and twisty read I’d definitely recommend. I loved the two POVs and the various timelines. I read this in two sittings and found the ending over the top and satisfying because I love a soapy thriller layered with drama. A solid read!

Super entertaining read! This was my first book by Wendy Heard, but won’t be my last. The synopsis doesn’t convey the full journey this book goes on, it’s a full on roller coaster with a satisfying ending.

Wow! I was hooked from the very beginning. A family drama with many twists and turns. Could not put it down. Very well done and anyone who likes a great thriller will truly love this one. Highly recommend.. Goodreads reviewer

This novel really, really wanted to be profound and fell flat from that perspective. Simultaneously very predictable and completely unbelievable. The redeeming quality is the fierce friendship between the two main characters...we stan women supporting women. We do not, however, stan women who go off to billionaire's private islands without taking any basic precautions.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I really enjoyed this book! It's not something I would typically read, but I found it to be really intriguing. Once I started reading, it was difficult to put down for very long. I loved getting to step into Summer's world with this one. I would definitely recommend it if you're into thrillers and stories about friendship (the good and the bad).

Heart pounding thriller, here. Summer and Leo fall into the insane. So much happening in this book, it is a story that is hard to put down without finishing it. I had to leave it on the back burner for a few days and found myself wanting to go and finish it up. Grab this one, a definite addition to your TBR list.

You Can Trust Me is the story of two con artists (Leo and Summer) who make their living as pickpockets while living in a van in California.
This is an action packed thriller that is a quick beachy feel read.

I was unsure if I would like this book, but I thought it was a very interesting read. I really enjoyed learning about the main characters in different time frames and could not wait to see the conclusion. I felt it was not very difficult to guess the twist that was coming, but I still really enjoyed the reading experience. Thank you so much NetGalley for providing this book for me to read-I would definitely recommend this!

Summer and Leo are California vagabond con artists who are always looking for their next score. When Leo’s whisked away to a billionaire’s private island and falls out of contact, Summer decides to use every con she knows to do her own investigation and find Leo before it’s too late. This little thriller was surprisingly hard to put down. There are two timelines/perspectives at play and both are equally compelling. I really appreciated the relationship between Leo and Summer, and while I saw the twist coming I still enjoyed it!

Leo & Summer are con artist drifters who target a handsome wealthy man, who is not what he seems. This novel was gripping & exciting. It had me on the edge of my seat as most of the time. I was second guessing myself the whole time. An excellent & thrilling read!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This was such a great, quick and fast paced thriller. I flew through this book because I couldn’t put it down!

Summer and Leo are friends that make a living by conning people. Summer prefers pickpocketing. Leo has her eyes on a bigger prize. Conning a billionaire, Michael. But when Leo doesn’t return home from her trip with Michael, Summer has to find her. They are now in over their heads.

I loved the dual Pov. Even though the characters weren’t the most “likable”, I still liked them! The ending felt a bit rushed, but overall I really enjoyed this book! I am looking forward to reading more my Wendy Heard!

3.5 / 5*

You Can Trust Me was a quick, face paced thriller about two con artists who take on a job that proves to be out of their league. With dual-POV from the perspective of our two MCs, Heard's gripping storyline is a quick read, but leaves a bit to be desired in terms of depth. The plot was a tad bit underwhelming, but all in all, for the short length of the book I wouldn't say it was a waste of time. However, the is most definitely a YA thriller—don't ask me why I was under the impression it wasn't. 😂

And you can trust me when I say that this book is silly and forgettable. Of course, most thrillers and mysteries are implausible to a degree (how many murders could a small town like Cabot Cove, for instance, sustain?), but this really beggared belief. Part of the reason was the writing: When necessary the protagonists seemed to defy the laws of physics. Then there is my biggest bugaboo in novels with multiple narrators: Each speaker sounds the same. Given that Summer was an off-the-grid autodidact raised by a rootless hippie mom and Leo was a middle-class runaway, they definitely should not have described places and events the same way. And how the heck does a person get a passport in three months, let alone a million followers on Instagram?

Thank you, Penguin Random House and NetGalley, for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this compelling story for the most part. The flawed and mysterious characters came alive. I was tempted again and again to flip to the end of the book, floating scenarios of how Summer and Leo’s rapidly crumbling situations would end. Unfortunately, I felt a bit let down by the ending as it felt forced and implausible, hence only four stars. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
