I honestly don't know what to make of this novel that ping pongs around between horror and thriller (well, it's really both). There's a demon severed hand, there are bad guys, there are government agents, there are conspriracies, there's a quest, Then there's Hutch, Nick, and Katherine- the most fleshed out characters (except for the hand) I'm not sure how to characterize this or how to recommend it as I think it might be a love it or leave it kind of read, Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. Fans of Rosson and those looking for something, ahem, different will be pleased.

Amazing book. I love the classic horror aspects to it but with an unique twist. The ending was ok but overall an awesome book. It was a quick pace book that kept me on the edge of my seat. Gross, horrifying and supernatural elements to this horror book.

Okay hold on to your hats! Hutch and Tim collect unpaid debts for a guy name peach and they’re so good at it they bet each other how little time it will take them for each stop. The two lifelong friends are taking care of business swiftly until they get to Wesley‘s apartment. Wesley is a drug addict and although they’re viewed as being out of their mind Wesley is unlike anything hutch and Tim has ever seen. He talks back he doesn’t care about the threat of abuse but while they’re at the apartment Hutch starts feeling a prickly uneasy but likable feeling and when he tells Wesley‘s girlfriend she needs to leave she shakes her head and says no. When Tim asks her if she doesn’t want to leave because of Wesley she again shakes her head no but when he takes out a gun she quickly takes her stuff in leaves. This is when Tim and Hutch think they will work Wesley over and get the money peach is old but when Wesley breaks his old tooth out of his mouth they know they’re dealing with something else and they soon find out what it is. Wesley has a severed hand in his freezer in the closer hutch gets to the freezer the more that weird prickly feeling gets. this is when Tim decides to call an audible and brings Wesley to the warehouse no one can keep quiet when they get the Don Junior treatment at least no one except for Wesley but soon Don is feeling the effects and everything goes to hell in the only one left is hutch in the hand.
Nick Cawthon is the sun call Rockstars they used to be in a band called the blank space and his mom Cathy Moriarty was the singer and his dad who committed not alive who is the creator and guitar player but now Nick works for peach he really is a nice boy and mainly find things that peaches looking for but on this night Hutch goes to his house and gives him the bag with the hand and everything that Nick knew is all going to be taken from him including his mom because there was others looking for the hand. John Bonner and Emily Wheeler work for an unspoken of undocumented agency called ARC and they two are looking for the severed hand. They know right where to go because their boss is privy to someone or something that does remote viewing but soon that too is in peril and it’s all due to the hand the fever dream it puts you in in those who want to use it for bad. I really messed up this review because I didn’t know what to say and what not to say but what I will say Fever House by Keith Rossen is a brilliant brilliant horror story at first I thought it was just a hand and then they had the interviews and I was like well watch this and how did this come to be and why did they want it but OMG once I continued reading I was like this is such a brilliant story! It was so good I went from laying down listening to it to setting up waiting for the next page this is such a great book that I could definitely see be turned into a movie I have never read a book by Keith Rawson before but I will definitely be looking for them in the future. If you’re a fan of science fiction and or horror then you definitely need to read this book it really is something that could be plausible but even if not it is still definitely entertaining. I want to thank random house and Net Galley for my free arc copy

Can I erase reading this book from my memory so I can go back and read it again for the first time?
My favorite part about Keith's books is that with each one I never know what adventure he is going to take me on, but it's going to be introspective, character driven, and some sort of 6 degrees of separation type insanity. I live for this web of connections, and this book does not disappoint.
Each character is broken in their own way, trying to make the best decisions they can to reach their personal end goals, and it all blows up in ways that weave them all closer together. It's magically tragic in all the right ways. Each time a POV character died I internally screamed because I thought for sure they'd be the one to make it to the end. Keith humanizes everyone throughout this morally grey nightmare of events. Leaving me rooting for even the so called villain's of the story.
When Nick answers the phone my heart stopped. I am at a loss for where a sequel will take us but I can't come soon enough because that ending. Wow. While it's a cliffhangers straight from a book lovers nightmare, this overall story is stand alone. Everything to come after this, is a whole new can of worms that deserves it's own book, and after this blood bath, I'm going to assume it's own set of characters. Kidding. . . some people survive.
You'll love this book if you enjoy post post-apocalyptic type books, but from the perspective of ground zero, and getting the inside view from all the various sides with deep character builds.

Wild does not even begin to describe Fever House. Dark, twisted, heart pounding, and a major cliffhanger at the end, I was on the edge of my seat from the first page to the very last.

This blood-soaked, gritty horror adventure opens with a couple of gangster enforcers who are sent to retrieve money, but return with a severed hand. As it turns out, the hand is most certainly cursed or haunted, as it imbues anyone in close enough proximity to it with violent thoughts and urges that are nearly impossible to resist.
Nearby, a shadowy group of government agents are distressed and actively searching for a missing “asset” - an asset that could have deadly global consequences if not properly contained. These agents will use any force necessary to retrieve the item, and they have an unusual informer helping them along the way. The informer curiously leads them to a former rock star, now an agoraphobic shut-in and borderline alcoholic. She lives with her son, and the two of them have some long and terrifying nights ahead of them.
As the hand travels, so too does its trail of carnage - dangerously close to unleashing a sinister catastrophe. You won’t find many conclusions here, but a sequel is in the works! I wish I had known this before I started reading so I could have prepared for the epic cliffhanger.
Overall, this was a compelling read. I’d even dare to say I read it feverishly. There are many different narrators (a few i didn’t care for), and the chapters are short. For me, short chapters almost always means I’m going to finish a book more quickly.
Landing somewhere between a noir horror adventure and a military sci-fi thriller, Fever House was quite an unexpected ride!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc! This review was also posted to instagram on 8/9/23 @adbiblio_reads

Has enough potential and energy for a decent horror novel, The craft does work at times—criminals and government agents meddle with some severed body parts that were at some time or other connected to the occult. The main drawback for me was the myriad of characters presented. There are just far too many of them. Most of the backstories easily could’ve been avoided while the interactions are irrevocably basic. There’s a horrid mythical figure, Saint Michael, that pops up from time to time who is a redeeming feat, but he’s not a saving grace by any means.

This is definitely one of those books that people will be divided on. I found this one really hard to get into, and just when I thought I had the characters figured out, more were introduced, and the book took on an entirely new direction. I felt that the story was all over the place with little direction and I spent a lot of the book confused. The writing is very vivid, which makes some of the more grotesque elements over the top. I didn’t mind this but it was a lot. By the end I also felt that a lot of the book ended up being filler, and could have been cut down
This is more of a crime thriller, with some horror aspects. I am sad that the book didn’t work for me as the description and tropes are all ones that I usually enjoy. This one was just a miss for me.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for providing me this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Dark and Wild ride! Gritty, frightening and thrilling. Will definitely be ordering for my library. I think one of our book clubs will love it too.

Good book to read if you want to be scared. And good author.I will buy this book when it comes out.P.S.if you have small kids some bad words in it.

I liked the writing style. Shades of Ellroy. This was Tarantino, From Dusk till Dawn type horror. Trouble was that it wanted to be rock and roll but ended up kind of accidentally being high camp in a non-ironic way. Tone is really hard in horror. The ending wasn't an ending, but maybe he's planning a sequel???

Fever House is unlike any horror book I have read. It is very hard to describe and if you are into the horror genre, you will want to read this book for yourself. The book is gruesome at times and the author has quite an imagination to pull this book together. The book is not fast paced but an experience to behold. The characters are well developed until they are killed off.
This book will be talked about this fall. The ending is explosive and surprising. I just read that there may be a second book to find out how it all ends. I would recommend this book to my horror loving friends!
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of Fever House. #NetGalley #FeverHouse # KeithRosson

I am so thankful to Keith Rosson, Random House Publishing Group/Random House, Netgalley, and PRH Audio for granting me advanced digital and audio access to this sick and twisted horror recco that will go up there in the charts for F*cked up content. Fever House is out on August 15, and if you're interested in a severed hand that drives people to madness, well then you're in for a treat with this one.

There is a lot going on in this book and yet it all happens in the span of less than 24 hours. Let the chaos ensue.
This was such a fun read, I had a blast watching every character and figuring out their involvement in the shenanigans. I really enjoyed the writing style as well, with the chapters being broken up by ‘Official Govt. Reports’, that made the book feel like watching an X-files episode. The pacing was a little slow, but once things heated up, it completely went off the rails. I really enjoyed the ending as well, it felt like it could be continued on into another book???? (*wink wink*)
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. It was so fun and really kept me wondering what the hell is going to happen next.

Easily one of the best books I’ve read all year. It’s got a whole lot of everything horror wise and the characters were so fleshed out I could easily read a book about any one of them. It’s not even out yet and I NEED to read the second one.

This one just didn’t do it for me. There was almost too much going on and it felt clunky. I found myself so bored I kept falling asleep reading no more than a page or two at the time.
The synopsis and cover had my interest but that’s as far as it went. Which I’m sad, I feel like there was potential but execution wasn’t there.

I read about 100-150 pages of this and tried to get into it but with the hand changing hands so often, I found it hard to continue on, especially without any characters to latch to. I feel like this book was not meant for me, but I enjoyed the details and gore provided. Sadly I do not think I will be finishing this book

4.5/5
Characters are not lost even in a story that is convoluted and full of hyper-kinetic energy it was like being at a rock concert in high school. I may be too old for that shit, but I’m not for this and I’m not letting it stop me from enjoying this little gem. It’s just a tad too long I think.

Everyone is after "the hand". A severed hand with how close it is to you will send you violent thoughts to kill others or yourself. You become ravaged by violence. Besides all the main characters looking for the hand, the government, a secret black ops division, is trying to get it back and they don't hesitate to shoot.
This was a whirlwind ride with quirky characters. Hutch and Tim, enforcers, Katharine, a famous singer whose husband's mysterious suicide turned her into an agoraphobiac, and Nick her son who once had "the hand" needs to get it back after Katharine has been kidnapped. The characters are all dark, some grey and all criminals. But somehow I loved, at least most of them. It felt weird rooting for the criminals but they were all being sought after by the bigger baddie, the black ops, so I reasoned out my feelings. Don't get close to anyone though as no one is safe from the author's sword.
I became more and more invested in the plot the more I read. It was pretty brutal and got weird but that's why we love horror, eh? Not a literary masterpiece but a fun, gripping piece of action horror.

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. An action packed summer horror/crime, this book is a perfect beach read for those fond of the more macabre. It’s dark and fun without being too heavy or cheesy. Gangster meets gore in a perfect blend, you’ll have a hard time not popping <i> And Justice For All <i> on while you read this.
