So freaking good! A cute lil rom com with some depth. I really loved the dynamics with Dash’s family and addiction issues. Sophie’s attempt to get out of writer’s block was funny and heartwarming.

This had the potential to be amazing and there were several things that I really liked, but unfortunately it just missed the mark for me.
I really appreciated the way the author handled a character with a history of substance abuse who is in recovery! It was handled with such care and I appreciated that! The set up between Sophie and Dash’s friends with benefits relationship was fun, flirty, and really endearing.
Unfortunately there ended up being wayyyyyy too many cringey moments for me. I’m not opposed to social media in books because it’s literally a part of our daily lives. So the idea of Sophie documenting her journey with Dash for her TikTok followers sounded modern and cool! But it ended up feeling like it was trying too hard to blend in with the youths and I kept getting second hand embarrassment for Sophie.
I hope that doesn’t sound too harsh. But maybe TikTok is too new and present for it to make an appearance in a romance and NOT feel like it’s trying to fit with the times.

I do recommend this if you aren’t bothered by the TikToks and Sophie’s quirky, but juvenile personality which became really grating at times. I saw another reviewer compare her to Bridget Jones and that totally makes sense because I hated those movies.

Not bad. But not a favorite.

Romances that tackle serious issues can be a tough sell, but this one really does a great job handling sobriety and dating. Even without that aspect, this is a huge win. More!

Plot Twist by Erin La Rosa is a modern grumpy/sunshine spicy-sweet romance novel. Dash and Sophie had good chemistry, but the dialogue was sometimes stiff. Overall it was a cute read, I would recommend it to someone looking for a quick read.

This was cute and a very light-hearted novel. However, I loved that despite that, it manages to touch on some complex issues and tricky family dynamics. It was easy to become invested into it. Loved it

I loved Plot Twist and was smiling and giddy when I finished it!

This was a sweet but (lightly) spicy romance that kept me turning the pages. Following a romance author who’s struggling with writer’s block as well as the realization that she’s never been in love and her neighbor/landlord who’s a former actor and fighting his own silent battle, these two characters join together and form an unexpected bond.

Plot Twist gave me Hallmark movie vibes - with some added spice, of course.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for this ARC. I’m looking forward to reading more from Erin La Rosa.

Wow! I literally just flew through this one and the author has managed to amalgamate quite a few romance tropes into it successfully. Sophie is a romance author who goes viral saying she never found love so far and this situation inspires her to introspect her past relationships. Dash, her neighbor and her best friend's brother is dealing with his own mental issues and their instant chemistry brings them together thereby helping each other come to terms with their own lives. Sophie, clearly a sunshine kind of person and the grumpy Dash go on a road trip and this particular trip seemed to have brought them together on a more solid basis.

I liked the little fact thrown at us about Sophie’s pacemaker, though it might seem like it adds nothing to the plot and was not needed but I liked it simply due to the same fact. It's very normal and it definitely does not define her life so would hardly warrant any weeping saga about it in the entire book for sure. Why can't we have MCs with pacemakers without it being the key plot, lets accept its normal and nothing to dwell too much into it. I clearly enjoyed it as I finished it in two sittings!

This is the first book I have read by this author and I enjoyed it. The characters are well-developed and it was interesting to see them grow and learn, while also having plenty of banter and chemistry. Including real life issues like addiction and sobriety adds an additional layer of interest to this story.

I loved this book, even more than For Butter or Worse (the first book in the series). The plot was interesting, the characters were fully developed people, and some heavy issues were handled well, while hitting the right emotional beats.

This book was a really fun read. I loved the dynamic between Dash and Sophie. Being open on social media is such a relevant topic of the world today, and I think that the author did a good job of portraying the pros and cons of life online.
Dash was an awesome character. His crafting was ADORABLE, but also, I don't mean that in a condescending way at all. This hobby of his, he worked at. It was a passion, and that is incredibly respectable.
Sophie was a joy to read. From her outfits to her humor, I have no real complaints.
Overall, I would totally read a book by Erin La Rosa again. I'm a sucker for a rom com with legitimately important topics, and this definitely did not disappoint.

This book was lovely and Sophie and Dash were delightful together. My only complaint is that they both need therapy and Sophie wasn't seeking it by the end of the book. There are also some random bits of plot (like her pacemaker) that didn't seem necessary to the plot at all. Overall, I really enjoyed this book (I mean, I finished it in less than a day) and definitely look forward to reading more from Erin La Rosa!

This book felt like all of the book tropes you’ve read a million times had a book baby. It seemed at times that the author had a check list of cliches or content that she wanted to include in the story and systematically checked each one off. Which is really too bad. If she hadn’t attempted to do so many things, let the characters pine a little longer and focused on the character development of Dash (so likeable!) and Sophie, this could have been a much stronger book. I don’t necessarily blame the author for this. The editors and publishers who didn’t catch these problems are the ones I’m pointing fingers at.
Still giving two stars here. One for the great substance abuse themes with Dash and the other for Erin La Rosa’s efforts to include diverse characters in her story.

Plot Twist by Erin La Rosa was sweet, spicy, at times poignant, somewhat twisty, and full of imperfect, lovely characters you’ll fall in love with. Highly recommend.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A book about a romance writer who has never been in love? Sign me up. I was excited to read this book upon seeing this was the concept behind it as it rang true to life for me. I love writing and I love romances but I’ve never been in love either.

I enjoyed this! It was a cute, fun read. Didn’t take too long. Characters were interesting and had chemistry. Sometimes the dialogue felt a little off to me, not sure what it was about it, but nothing too crazy.

A fun read!

It was a speedy and comfortable read. It was adorable and I liked the plot. Also, I enjoy what topics the author shows and how they were described. I love this combination of an ex-actor and the writer and how they helped each other. It was my first book by this author and I want to read more! Also, I really like this cover! The cover and the plot are amazing!
