So. Much. Loss. Watching Meren pine after Reven the whole book and him being too afraid of hurting her to be with her is so painful. I know it's just to build suspense but my heart is aching lol
The cliffhanger is devastating, so prepare your tissues and make sure you have book 3 in the immediate vicinity 😭

Thank you so much, Entangled Teen and NetGalley, for the digital review copy.

PG-16: violence

I liked this book so much more than the first. It had more action and more depth of feeling. I'm excited to begin the conclusion because now I'm invested. I still feel a disconnect with the characters, but I'll be pushing through. I need to see this queen save the day and get her guy back.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The stakes are higher, the romance is swoonier, and the twists are sharper in this gripping sequel to The Liar’s Crown!

Meren’s journey continues as she steps further into her role as a leader, balancing the weight of her kingdom’s fate with the tension of her growing connection to Reven. The political intrigue kept me on edge, and the expansion of the magic system added even more depth to this richly imagined world.

Reven’s backstory brought so much emotional weight to the story, and his brooding charm? Still absolutely top-tier. The slow-burn romance between him and Meren had me rooting for them with every page.

While the pacing dipped slightly in the middle, the explosive ending made up for it and left me eager for the next instalment. If you love fantasy with courtly intrigue, high-stakes action, and a romance that’ll make your heart ache, this series is a must-read!

What to expect:
⚔️ Power struggles and rebellion
⚔️ Secrets and betrayals
⚔️ A heroine determined to reclaim her fate
⚔️ Jaw-dropping revelations

This book series is so underrated, and I just wanted everyone to know about it! This is another one that I used for my Mystery Book Boxes (Lavender Books).

If you haven't read The Liar's Crown (book 1) you need to pick it up immediately! I promise you won't be able to put it down. There are twins and magic and most importantly, secrets. The constant twists and turns will have you flying through this book.

Then you can pick up The Stolen Throne (book 2) to continue on in the wild ride. I highly recommend this series!!

Side note: make sure you have The Stolen Throne (book 2) with you and ready because you're going to want it as soon as you finish The Liar's Crown (book 1).

Okay first of all, I didn’t realize that this was a second book in a series so that‘s definitely my fault for not seeing it and I have not read the first one so I feel like my review of this one is somewhat useless at this point.
I will absolutely go back and read book 1 as well but I was kind of missing more romance in this one.

*The Stolen Throne* by Abigail Owen is a riveting fantasy that blends intrigue, danger, and romance in a high-stakes tale of power and destiny. The protagonist is a determined and resourceful character who must navigate a perilous path to reclaim a throne stolen from her. Owen’s world-building is detailed, with a plot filled with unexpected twists and well-developed characters. Although the story leans on some familiar fantasy tropes, it remains a compelling and engaging read, perfect for fans of political intrigue and epic quests.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the ARC of The Stolen Throne!

The story picks up right where book one left off. Meren manages to escape Eidolon's clutches (leaving her kingdom in his hands, which I thought was weird? These twin queens seem to do very little in terms of running the kingdom.) The plot of this one did seem a bit thin at times. Meren decides to try to find all of the amulets from the other kingdoms and runs into very little difficulty actually obtaining these items since she has to travel to them and then the other sovereign has to be willing to give them to her. Meren and Reven's relationship in this book is weird. It begins as an "I can't be with you" and then turns into an ACOTAR fated mates situation out of nowhere.

So while I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next installment of the series, I didn't think the characters or plot were as good as some other fantasy writers have achieved. The world building and descriptions are incredible I just feel like it is rather one-dimensional and there are some plot holes.

This was a great second book in the series and I definitely want to read the next one. There are so many questions left to find answers for! Meren is a strong character who struggles with the decisions she has to make. Reven is a strong male character full of shades of gray. Those traits make them interesting to watch as they face each challenge. I’m really excited to see how it all ends!

I thoroughly enjoyed the follow up to The Liar's Crown. I loved seeing other parts of the world and the characters dynamics change and grow throughout Meren's journey. It's not quite a 5 star read for me due to some minor things, but if you are a fantasy romance lover, this is the book for you.

This book was fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat from the first page. It's been a great sequel to The Liar's Crown by continuing with the intriguing world building, development of the world's lore, and evolution of the characters. Abigail Owen has such a poetic way of describing places and situations. This book had a much better pace to it than the first. I love how much Meren has learned and grown from everything she's been through so far, even though she occasionally grapples with trusting her training or instincts. I appreciate that she doesn't try to handle EVERYTHING on her own. She relies on her found family from the Shadowood and zariphate to help work through issues and solve problems. Also, the drama! And the tension! I cannot wait for the third book in this series because what a cliffhanger! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Review submitted 5/8/23.

Having enjoyed the first book, my expectations were high for this installment. However, I found myself somewhat disappointed; it didn't quite meet the heightened anticipation I had. I wanted more depth and development from the series as a whole.

This is well written and fun but it doesn't really stand out in the genre. I don't like the cover at all.

The Stolen Throne is an amazing sequel to The Liar’s Crown!! I absolutely loved the first book, so I was very excited for this one!

Meren is such a great FMC, but in this book she kind of became a bit more insecure about where her and Reven stood. Although, it wasn’t terrible and didn’t seem out of character for her. She’s used to being a second choice, a spare, and less than her sister. So, in my opinion, it made sense she’d be insecure about why Reven was distancing himself from her. Meren had a great development for her character by the last chapter of the book, so I cannot wait to see where the third book takes her.

This book was heavy with plot rather than romance (but still had a fair amount of romance), which I really enjoyed!! We visited more of the Dominions in this book as they journeyed. The side characters each played important roles throughout the story. I really loved Vos, Tziah, Achlys, and Pella. There was a character that I absolutely adored and was so upset with how their part in the story took a turn. Pella and Hakan were amazing, love them so much. Pella had fantastic development!

Overall, I loved this book. It was full of interesting turns, great world building, intriguing and complex characters, and beautiful writing! Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Teen for the arc! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I only requested it because of the pretty cover, and when I got accepted I realized it was the second book in a trilogy! Having to go read another and then come back to this one made it so that the book was archived before I could officially download it, but I did have a copy, so I am not sure what happened. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of YA fantasy. This book was exciting, with great characters, fantastic world-building, and just enough romance to keep things interesting.

I really liked the first book in this series. And yes, you need to read the first book to understand this one. That being said, even with having read the first book this one was confusing with to much happening and so many characters to keep track of. Most of these character seemed to never appear again. It felt rushed. I had so much hope for this book, but after this I do not think I will be finishing this series.

I want to thank Netgalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for an ARC of this book.
