I enjoyed this cute, entertaining read. We begin Adeline and Daniel's story by getting bowled over by an overly rambunctious pig and a background of barking dogs and some clucking chickens thrown in for good measure. Adeline's evil half-brother has promised her hand in marriage to an unsavory money lender, whom he owes a vast amount. To avoid a forced marriage, and the meddling schemes of Daniel's godmother, he and Adeline join forces in a pretend courtship to keep them both at bay.
This was entertaining, funny, touchin, Daniel at times though irked me, for someone who was supposed to be so intelligent, boy could he be dumb. Especially when it came to his true feelings about Adeline.
On the whole a good, fast paced read, perfect for an entertaining afternoon read.
Thank you to Net Galley and to Entangled Publishing for the free ARC, I am leaving my honest review voluntarily..

“From the moment her pet pig attacks him, Adeline Foster she does not care at all for the Duke of Warwick”
Well guess what, Adeline, I DONT care at all for you or your story.
If I had to describe this in a word, I’d choose ‘Boring’.
Positives:
-The writing wasn’t BAD.
-it was definitely better than the last historical romance I read ‘The Duke’s secret Cinderella’
-enjoyable. At times.
Negatives:
-I didn’t like Adeline.
-I hated her LI and thought he was basic.
-pacing was ALL OVER THE PLACE
A big thank you to Tina Gabrielle, Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for an eARC in exchnage for my honest opinion. How Not To Marry a Duke comes out April 25, 2023.
How Not to Marry a Duke is a historical romance featuring fake courtship, a healer and a inventor and a friendly 200 lb pig. Speaking of the pig that is hao these two characters meet. Adeline has moved to a small country town to be the healer there, and Daniel (Duke of Warwick) is in the small town working on a invention. When Daniel goes over to confront Adeline about dogs barking Henry (the pig) takes issue with his tone and attachs Daniel. After the not so cute meet cute the two are sure they will not see each other again, that is until Adeline is threatened with a forced engagement and Daniel steps up to fake court her so she doesn't have to get married to a money lender. During their fake courtship will the two be able to split at the end or will they find that there is nothing fake about their love.
How Not to Marry a Duke was such a quick and fun fake courtship story. Bothe Adeline and Daniel have things that they are extremly passionate about, and it was heartwarming to see them support each other. Them learning about each other and falling for each other was I think paced really well. It was moderatly spicy, like there wasn't a ton of spicy scenes but when there were they really made it count. The supporting characters were supportive and lovely. Overall if you are looking for a fun and heartwarming fake courtship then I highly suggest How Not to Marry a Duke!
Adeline and the Duke of Warwick meet under auspiciously funny circumstances, and it sets the tone for How Not To Marry a Duke. Tina Gabrielle weaves a romantic, lighthearted but meaningful romance between the two, and romance lovers will swoon aplenty.
I really enjoyed this one! The writing was engaging and the characters were a delight. I did feel like the pacing was a little slower towards the end but otherwise this was a solid romance from a new to me author.
"You're wrong, Foster. This matter has everything to do with me. You see, I'm courting your sister."
"Precisely. Which leads me to my offer. If we agree to a fake courtship, Society will believe I have every intention of proposing marriage and you have every intention of accept-ing. As you said, what woman wouldn't want to catch a duke? It's the perfect plan."
Wonderful !!! Absolutely marvellous regency romance with the best tropes ever !!!! Oh I am so in love with this book !!! I already know I’ll be thinking about it for the foreseeable future!!!
The Duke of Warwick, trying to make inventions far away from society but under the pressure of his godmother who wants him to marry. The half sister of an earl, daughter of a Arabic woman, who wants to be free to deal with her herbs while helping her patients while also having to deal with her evil half brother who wants to sell her off in marriage for debts !!!
With a fake courtship, forced proximity, tension, incredible chemistry and attraction and great spicy times, Adeline and Warwick’s story was absolutely thrilling, engaging, entertaining and hot and I couldn’t put the book down for the life of me !!!
I loved the role that the godmother had in all of this !!! Kinda like a grandmother who wants to help things get smoothly !!!!
Think about a romance story set in a Bridgerton era but with two nerds who will start having the hits for each other !!!!
I’m so so happy I had the chance to read it !!!!
"To the contrary. It makes you priceless.
A shining, polished diamond among a pile of carbon."
"A man cannot live on logic alone. But he can live for love."
A great read.the characters were interesting and the story was intriguing. Will look out for more by this author.
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 2 in Daring Ladies series. This was a fun read and I really enjoyed the story. The characters were fun but the Duke needed some work. I am glad that he learned and I thought it a fun read. Looking forward to more.

From the moment her pet pig attacks him, Adeline Foster knows she does not care at all for the Duke of Warwick. Certainly the man is handsome, but such an arrogant arse. But when her scoundrel half brother demands she marry a stranger over a failed investment, the duke does something shocking…he announces he’s courting her.
One moment, Daniel Millstone is enjoying tinkering with his inventions in his quiet country home with relative anonymity. The next, he’s courting the willful Miss Adeline. It might have begun as a way to vex her half brother—his childhood nemesis—but her striking beauty and kissable lips prove an irresistible temptation.
Now Adeline and her faux beau must convince the ton and their families that they’re an item. It doesn’t matter if they can barely tolerate each other. It doesn’t matter that scandal is only a touch away. Because if this charade doesn’t work, Adeline will find herself in dangerous hands…
This is your typical fake dating romance trope, set in regency England. A light, quick read, easily finished in under an hour. The pacing dragged a little for me, and the chemistry between the two main characters felt contrived and forced.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.
How Not to Marry a Duke was a cute read and I would rate it 3.5/5 stars! I enjoy a good fake dating romance and this one added some cool twists like the way they meet; both being intellectuals and “outcasts” who venture to the country for some space from the hustle and bustle of London only to end up as neighbors. I really enjoyed the way they got to know each other first even though they clearly had physical attraction from the beginning. I really, really enjoyed how much Warwick was mesmerized by Adeline’s healing. He seemed to be just as infatuated with her mind as he was her body. The storyline was engaging, although I do wish the conflict wasn’t so easily solved. I love to root for the main characters when they are struggling to find a solution or overcome and obstacle, but the conflict was either minimal or easily overcome. That aside I found Warwick and Adeline likable and interesting and I absolutely LOVED Lady Heywood and her meddling!

Wow this was super fun to read, it was so much more then I expected. I loved the recluse/mad Duke that was just misunderstood. There story was sweet and I truly enjoyed every page. I loved that the author added more of her mother’s ethnic side show in London. Not to many authors elaborate on mixed races back then or even give us storyline that they are there just not in Mayfair.
Lady Adeline has just moved to a small village where her recently deceased father left her a cottage. Daniel, Duke of Warwick is an inventor who has retired to the same village to finish up some work outside of the noise of London when his peace is disturbed by some barking dogs, and an overly enthusiastic pig. Who are all under the care of Adeline. This is how they meet... Henry the pig bowls the Duke over.
Anyway, various nefarious activity by Adeline's brother leads them to pretend to be courting. And that's that.
I found this book a tad tired but overall a decent read.
Received an ARC from Netgalley.
Two unconventional people desire to fake a courtship in order to keep up with their unconventional lives.
I really enjoined the main characters of this book Adeline and Daniel. They each had their own goals, healing and inventing respectively, but the author did a good job making them well rounded. They didn’t just have “careers” that made them different for the time period just for the sake of it.
The attraction is there right away, but it takes long enough for it to bubble over, but not too long where it just fizzles.
Overall, I thought it was an enjoyable read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you NetGalley.
When Adeline Foster’s half brother demands she marry a stranger over a failed investment, the Duke of Warwick Daniel Millstone announces he’s courting her to vex the brother, his childhood nemesis, and to keep his godmother off his back about marrying.
In this fake dating setup, he’s an inventor and she’s a healer. He’s better with steam engines than people and she's trying to find her place. The main conflict is she wants to marry for love and he’d be content with marrying for convenience if he has to marry at all. I struggled to feel Warwick's connection to her, and then Warwick’s realization/arc and the resolution felt very rushed.
I liked the diversity rep (yes, people from Asia and the Middle East were in Georgian England). Some readers might appreciate a content warning for the racism Adeline experiences. When I went to Entangled’s website, there were no content warnings for this book.
This is actually the 2nd book in the daring ladies series. It can be read as a stand alone but we do meet our Duke in book 1. I went back and read book 1 and enjoyed this all the more for it.
We have a very good opening with the Duke of Warwick meeting Last Adeline where they are both residing in the country. He actually comes over to complain about her dogs, when he is attacked by her pig and knocked down. The next day, when the pig wanders into his house, Warwick is irate. He decides to bring the pig back in person. When he arrives, he finds Adelaine being verbally intimidated by her half brother and comes to her defense.
After her brother leaves, Warwick and Adeline decide to enter into a fake engagement. Thie will get her brother off her back and his godmother off his.
And so the adventure begins as they try to fool everyone they are courting. Maybe the ones they are fooling is themselves into believing it is fake.
I enjoyed the book.

I want to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book.
How not to marry a duke is a beautiful, heartfelt regency romance. I think it was a good read after a crazy work day. Keeps you engaged and lets the mind relax and dive into the story.

I was so happy to read this book. I enjoyed the other book in the series.
Warwick and Adeline love story. I truly loved the premise of the fake engagement and how it slowly transitions to a true love story. Warwick and Adeline are both so focused and motivated by their own passion in science and medicine. I enjoyed this story but I felt that the connection between them was not very strong. I had the feeling of wanting more. Good read but I felt that something was missing between the characters.
I enjoyed this one while reading, but after finishing, I feel nothing towards it. I liked all of the concepts, but as a whole, it fell short. Like, I loved our MC's occupations. I loved having an inventor and a doctor fall in love. What I didn't love were these occupations being the only thing we knew about these characters. And while their romance was cute, it again lacked substance. I needed less of the waffling in the middle, and more happy couple. I was looking forward to this one, but sadly it ended up being a bit of a disappointment.

I enjoyed this fake engagement novel very much, though it did start to drag a little bit toward the end. More specifically, the obstacles to the HEA began to feel a little drawn out. But I adore a smart heroine and love a heroine with healing skills, and Adeline definitely fit the bill. That she is not your typical English rose is a heady bonus.
Warwick is a little harder to like, not because he is stiff or whatever but because he's so dense. He is clearly enamored of Adeline, and he has mad respect for her as well. They enter this fake courtship to throw off her brother (who wants to marry her off to pay his debt) and his godmother (who wants him to settle down). This particular storyline has been done a million times. Here, apart from a rocky start, they really are friends. He is not adverse to marriage--he knows he needs to marry and produce an heir. And she'd like to marry, though love is a requirement for her. The latter is the sticking point. But it just got a little frustrating that they kept up the charade when making their courtship real world have made more sense.
Otherwise, it's a good story. I love the scenes where Adeline uses her healing skills, and I really liked that she embraces her Middle Eastern half. If I finished the novel craving hummus and pita, that's on the author. 😂
I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!
