Set in three periods - 1939, 1975 and 2004 - this books tells the story of three generations and their tangled lives. Each chapter is clearly labelled with the time period which helps enormously since I found the characters rather similar in attitudes, dress and the rest rather than being distinct for their period. This was a pity because the tangled stories were intriguing, if at times predictable. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.
