This book doesn’t ease you in to the story, it just plunges you right in and submerges you in its beautiful and spiraling journey of pain, struggles, heart ache, and then it pulls out back up, until you feel the love and healing the characters have reached.
i’ve already read this book before but was excited to see the exclusive content from berkley! rereading was so fun as the addicted / calloway sisters series is my favorite series of all time. i love ryke and daisy so much and going back into their world was incredible
MY FAVORITE RAISY BOOK! This series will have my heart forever. Thank you KBR for writing my favorite characters, I will never stop talking about this series.
This book was good! I wasnt a fan at all of the first book in this series so I didn't read the first three (dnf book 1) so I was nervous going into this one. However, I enjoyed the characters and really liked Ryke and Daisy's relationship.
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
Hothouse Flower is a lovely book full of surprising drama, enticing twists, interesting relationships, zigzagging around family, love and the cost which comes with the fame. Though, Ryke and Daisy are forever one of my absolute favourites!!
There’s so much hype around the Addicted series. For once I feel like I can kind of understand, these are really pretty good. Dramatic romances aren’t usually my speed, so I probably won’t go out and invest in the rest of the series right now, but I’d read another if given the opportunity.
The writing maintains a level of humor that I appreciated, usually melodramatics tend towards just stewing in the angst. Yes there’s plenty of heavy situations and topics, but even though I didn’t always find the leading characters likable, I enjoyed their perspectives. This story is easy to get into the swing of, and it’s exciting enough to keep you invested.
Finally deeper dive into Ryke and Daisy’s relationship. These two are probably my favourite couple of the series, so I was very excited to finally get to a book that just focusses on them. I love the development of the Callaway sisters throughout these stories. Each book makes you want to continue reading, and finding out more of what’s going to happen with all of the characters involved in the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkeley publishing group for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
2.5 Stars
Ryke and Daisy already have a conflicting past. She is too young for him. She is the forbidden fruit. There is a lot of history between them and their group. Ryke has never crossed the line physically, and he has moved on to live his life. Daisy is soaking up her life as a new adult. She set sail to Paris and ends up needing a quick rescue. She knows who to call, but the question is, should she?
This is one of those series that takes you on a rollercoaster ride, and you didn’t know you had to hold on for dear life. Yes, it is a spin-off to the series, but the main series is out of control. I knew I was going to be in for a wild ride emotionally with Daisy and Ryke.
Normally, I do not mind an age-gap romance. In fact, they intrigue me, if I’m being honest. The age gap was hard to connect with them as a couple at some point. I don’t know if it is the fact that they mutually had these feelings for so long. He is not that much older, but he has had his eye on her for a while and has been somewhat inappropriate at times with her. Or the fact that the seems to have been waiting for this moment in time. Either way, it causes a real disconnect for me with this story.
Then there is the fact that she has always had this sort of fascination for older men. She was dabbling but never really had sex with any of them. The logic is that this makes it okay, and it was quickly glossed over. Let us readers get right to her and Ryke and ignore that little fact.
Yet, the intensity of the couple when they finally just gave in just blew me away. I’m very conflicted about this story. I played around with my rating based on my own emotions. The authors definitely know how to pull everything out of you and get you on board with the drama.
Overall, if you read the series, you may want to read this to see Daisy and Ryke’s story told through their POVs.

This series is just new adult perfection! It is angsty and dramatic, which is exactly how new adult romance should be. I love how this series has unfolded and the Calloway sisters are just fascinating. I really enjoyed Ryke and Daisy. Their romance is a kind of friends to lovers story and it just worked! They had great chemistry! Overall, this series is just great!
”I kissed you tonight because I want your lips to only touch mine. From now until forever. That’s the fucking truth.”
Hothouse Flower is first and foremost a forbidden long term longing romance reaching its point of combustion. Daisy Calloway is the sun and Ryke Meadows is a gray cloud. They are so very different, but they are also so much alike. Their love for each other and their families and friends. Their longing for thrill and adventure. Their struggles. Their explosive chemistry. I loved watching these two care for each other and be there for one another when no one else truly was. This book is an adventure, a ride one might say, but it also explores some heavy topics and themes. I knew from the other books there were things going on with Daisy, but this one really dives deep and explores them and how she’s been handling them. I also liked getting a deeper peek into Ryke Meadows past the f-swears and dirty jokes.
We also get glimpses and updates from the rest of the Addicted/Calloway crew. It’s always interesting to see these characters through another characters point of view. It’s amazing how the authors can change up the perspectives so well while still keeping the character true to themselves. Things are ever changing with this group, and Daisy and Ryke’s dynamic as a duo meshes in perfectly, after a few… hiccups, of course.
Raisy are definitely a forbidden pairing, but I don’t think two characters could have been written more perfectly matched. GrumpySunshine and fated souls perfection!
This book didn’t pull me in or keep me entertained. I also have one word for you. Grooming. Pretty sure Ryke was grooming Daisy this entire book and it was kind of a weird thing to read about. I’m pretty sad that I didn’t like this book as much as I thought I would because I’ve been interested in reading this series and the Addicted series by the Ritchies. This might just be one of the flops in the series but I’m a little nervous to read the rest of the books when I didn’t like this one and the first book in the Calloway Sisters was only ‘just okay’.
I really didn't get far into the book before I decided that it really wasn't for me. This book could be interesting for others so keep that in mind as well!
This just wasn't the book for me. I wish I would have known more information before requesting/diving in. I don't mind swearing but this felt a little over the top. I also didn't realize that the characters met when she was so young. I don't mind age gap but I just prefer for the time jump to have them be older and not barely legal.
Krista and Becca Ritchie just did it again with writing another masterpiece of a book. This story follows Ryke and Daisy and it’s very recommended you start from Addicted #1. I have been waiting for this book ever since I fell in love with Ryke and saw the connection that both Ryke and Daisy had with each other. The authors did not disappoint with the writing at all and actually went above and beyond with the story. Every single moment in this book is something that I will never forget about. The amount of conflicts in the book was perfect and I enjoyed how every single thing in the past was never forgotten about. For a thick book (according to my kindle), I was shocked by how fast I read this book. Though honestly, it was all because of the writing style where I felt there was no perfect spot to stop until the end.
This book is told from both Ryke and Daisy’s pov and I really enjoyed their stories. We get more inside information about these characters especially Daisy as she was such a mysterious character when all you saw was a bubbly side of her. Both characters were really well written and I loved their development in the story, especially Daisy. The side characters are still the same being Lily, Lo, Connor and Rose. The relationship between the six of them is so cute and just makes me want to be a part of their group. The romance is an age gap, friends to lovers, slow burn, and forbidden romance with very steamy scenes. There was so much chemistry between the MCs along with joking and playfulness.
The ending was very well done and I’m loving where the story is going for each of these characters. There was some shocking news in this book I really want to see how it plays out until the end. I really loved this book and I can’t wait to dive into the next one whenever I get a copy.

Hothouse Flower by Krista Ritchie and Becca Ritchie has captured my heart and imagination. Despite my initial reservations, having not been completely enamored with the first three books in the Addicted series, I am thrilled to have persevered and discovered this gem. The characters are so vividly portrayed that I feel as though I am a silent observer, watching them grow and evolve. I am truly invested in their lives and am experiencing a sense of melancholy now that the book has ended.
I really loved Daisy and Ryke's banter in the other books in this series and couldn't wait to finally get to read their story. I'm not normally a fan of age gaps when the older guy meets the girl when she is underage (which is the case in this book) but somehow it kind of worked without being icky. Ryke has been a really good friend to Daisy in the other books and their relationship doesn't start until she is 18. It was great to watch their relationship develop despite the obstacles in their path, the age difference being one of the big ones. It was good to finally see Daisy get the attention she deserves and I was really enjoyed the scene where she finally told her sisters what happened to cause her night terrors. I can't wait to read the next book!
I truly love the Addicted/Calloway sister series and Hothouse Flower did not disappoint. I am a huge Raisy fan and this was truly such a beautiful yet heart wrenching story between the two.
Ryke and Daisy understand each other in a way no one else could - and it is very evident in this book. You see the way they fought for each other and how they developed their friendship over time. Ryke was such a safe space for Daisy in a way that no one else had ever been. The growth that Daisy went through was BEAUTIFUL and I cannot wait to read more of her in Long Way down. My favorite sunshine girl forever <3
This is such a great New Adult Series. The Ritchie's have another super strong addition to their series with this one. Definitely a priority ebook purchase
This series just keeps getting better and better. I love that no matter which perspective the books are from you see the whole of the story. You get to know what’s going on with everyone.
I was so excited to get to Daisy and Ryke’s points of view. I figured theirs would be most interesting considering they weren’t technically a couple. I think I was right.
Overall this is a must read series for me. I can’t wait to continue (I’m reading them in website order) and see how everything plays out.
This series truly just gets better and better with each book, and I could not be more grateful for that ⭐️
I feel like Daisy & Ryke have had the most mystery surrounding their characters since the beginning of the series, and I was so excited to finally get to their story 🤩 You really get to know them so much better in this book and see how they work, individually and together.
Daisy is what I would call a broken sunshine girl ☀️ She always has a smile on her face and puts on a good front for other people, but there is a lot more going on beneath the surface. While Daisy is still a very lovingly positive person, a lot of her thoughts and the things that she’s experienced truly broke my heart because you would have no idea that she’s struggling with so much in the previous books ☹️ Same goes for our grumpy man, Ryke. He similarly puts on a mask in front of others but in the sense of being the strong one who can weather anything. Getting to know him beyond that persona and seeing his vulnerability really got to me 🥺
Daisy & Ryke have what I would honestly consider a very unconventional relationship, if not for the fact that they are meant for each other 💛 They are truly ALWAYS there for each other, and they are the only people that they can be themselves around 🥹 I loved seeing their relationship progress and witnessing how much they’ve grown since I first met them at the start of the series. I wish I could give them both the biggest hug, and I adore them 🫶
Overall, this book and this series is just absolutely incredible 💫 Only halfway into this series, and it’s already easily my top favorite series of all time! Aside from the amazing romances, the stories, characters, and found family aspects just make for the perfect experience 🤌 If I had to recommend only one series for the rest of my life, it would definitely be this one 💌
