Cassie needs to find an apartment and her friend, Sam, finds a good one for her--and it's cheap. And there ends up being a catch--the man who has the spare room to rend is a vampire. One who has been out of it for about a hundred years. Things get a bit complicated as Cassie tries to fin a full time art-based job that pays decently and they try not to fall for each other. A light, quick read.

Thank you to @netgalley and @berkleypub for a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to @prhaudio for a free download of the audiobook.

Jenna Levine's "My Roommate is a Vampire" offered a promising concept with its vampire roommate premise, and while I didn't dislike the book, it didn't fully ignite my enthusiasm. The story's strength lies in its whimsical setup and the charmingly polite Frederick, but the romantic connection between him and Cassie felt underdeveloped. The absence of palpable chemistry hindered my investment in their relationship.

Gilli Messer's outstanding audiobook narration significantly enhanced my experience. Her nuanced character portrayals and clear, engaging voice made the story come alive.

This low-angst, imaginative story has the potential to resonate strongly with many readers, particularly those who enjoy lighthearted paranormal romance. While it didn't completely win me over, I'm intrigued to see what Jenna Levine creates next.

That was one hot mess! Most of this book was cringeworthy for me. Frederick is such a simp, and Cassie has pretty much no redeeming qualities. I found Frederick’s lack of understanding of the modern world to be endearing, and his proper behaviors and mannerisms were amusing. He was cute in a Leopold from Kate & Leopold kind of way (although he’s no Hugh Jackman). I did not like Cassie, though. Her constant surprise that he likes her drove me nuts. “Who me? Little old me? I’m nothing special, how could he like me?” Over and over again. She was constantly begging for compliments and not believing any of them. A person would have to be dumber than a rock to not know that a guy like Frederick is in love with them. And I have no idea why he loved her either. Like, he just fell in love with her for no reason other than that she was there and he was incredibly isolated. He would have fallen in love with anyone. There was no romantic development, no world-building, no vampire lore, and no real depth to this story. I know nothing interesting about any of these characters. The dialogue is so cheesy and over the top. The major conflict was cartoonish and ridiculous.

I did like the epistolatory aspects of the story. Frederick and Cassie talk through written notes for a while because of their differing sleeping schedules, and the letters were fun for a time.

Audio notes: The narration was horrible. Frederick sounds irritatingly posh with an American accent, even though he’s British. His mother, also British, actually has a British accent and sounds like a high and mighty snob. Cassie sounds like a child. And then Reginald, Frederick’s frenemy, sounds like some empty-headed frat boy.

Bottom line, this book is a train wreck. And I couldn’t look away, hence the two stars instead of one. lol.

What a fun vampire romance to while away the winter blues. This is a great book for valentine's day and all those other romantic holidays! I loved the way it was set up and the fall and the minor suspense and Reginald. I can't wait to read his story! A fun quirky vampire romance for the win!

My Roommate Is a Vampire is a paranormal romcom following Cassie and her new roommate Frederick J. Fitzwilliam. However, he's no normal roommate; his sleep schedule is totally messed up and he has an alarming favorite drink in the fridge. This book is a bit ridiculous but is perfect for Twilight adults.

3/5 stars - The writing in this one was a little slow for me to get into at first but picked up eventually.. the ending wasn’t great though… was a “meh” for me overall. Was very quirky and different, they overdid the mention of Tiktok and Instagram for me… like okay we get it made it very cheesy. If you want an easy romcom with a cute friendship this one will fit your bill, nothing too heavy.

This book was honestly so adorable. Cheesy at times, sure. But it was also funny and lighthearted. There was no third act breakup and miscommunication tropes, and I absolutely love that about it! This was a fun, easy romance. I will definitely read the next book!

This was cute! Poor Cassie has no idea her new roommate is a vampire. Honestly, the whole book is campy in the best way. This was an easy read, filled with laughs, so if you are looking for an escape, its a good pick.

Okay I did not like this one. It was too far fetched and a little ridiculous to boot. I got to the 50% mark and just had to stop. I didn't like the descriptions of the characters etc just not my type of book.

This was … eh fine? I wanted this to be a lot more fun that it actually was. I wish it had been funnier, created more interesting world building and also been sexier. The characters didn’t quite have the tension that you want in a romance novel.

Cassie is desperate for a new place to live and when she finds a room listed in a gorgeous place for way below her budget, she knows it must be too good to be true. Frederick J. Fitzwilliam's rules are simple, though peculiar. Their schedules don't often overlap and she's grateful for that. It's not long before his eccentricities have a clear explanation. Cassie isn't exactly happy to learn that her roommate is a vampire, but the chemistry between them is too strong to resist.

I devoured this book. It's a really fun spooky season read.

Many thanks to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

So fun and funny! Definitely gonna re-read around Halloween. I especially loved the scene with Frederick ordering coffee for the first time and trying to pay with coins 😂 His lack of knowledge of the modern world really made this enjoyable.

This was a fun campy read but also a cute paranormal romance and a fast read. Cassie a struggling artist who was just about to be evicted ends up applying for the rented room since it is a steal for how much Frederick is asking for it. The two don’t seem to fit together at first, but they are both so likeable that you root for their HEA.

Cassie is a starving artist, working part-time jobs in an effort to support her craft. Unfortunately, it's just not enough, and as she faces eviction, a too-good-to-be-true Craigslist ad becomes her only option. Her new roommate, Frederick J. Fitzwilliam is a bit odd, but he seems harmless, that is until she discovers blood in the refrigerator. This one is a cutesy rom-com with not a lot of substance. The conflict is minimal, but the characters are fun. Would recommend to a reader looking for a low-drama, feel-good romance.

This was a fun campy read. It had a good balance of goofy and sweet that was pure entertainment. These two don’t seem to fit together at first, but they are both so likeable that you root for their HEA. Such a fun read. I’m excited to read more from this author

This was a cute paranormal romance and a fast read. It was really cute since Frederick just needs someone to help him navigate the modern world since he has been asleep for about 100 years.
