This one was such a fun read! I did find it a bit cringey that Tiktok played such a large role in the plot, but that was such a minor qualm it didn't really matter. As always, watching clueless immortals discover and explore the modern world was hilarious. The main romance was adorably cute and fluffy. I'd recommend this one!

The cover of My Roommate is a Vampire immediately made me want to pick up this book and it truly fits the content of the story. Romcom vibes throughout!

Cassie, "perennial fuckup", unknowingly moves into a 300-year-old vampire's apartment. This 300-year-old vampire, Frederick, is so sweet and completely clueless making him instantly loveable. Of all things, he gives Cassie kumquats as a welcome gift. I mean, if that's not the most adorable thing, I don't know what is. He's so incredibly out of the 21st century loop that his ignorance is actually endearing and quite hilarious.
"He might be an undead creature of the night--but as undead creatures of the night went, he was a marshmallow."*

The connection Cassie and Frederick form over the course of the story is sweet. They write notes to each other and leave them on the kitchen counter, cute! I appreciated the more realistic reactions Cassie has to her situation as the story progresses even with this whole story being wildly unrealistic. She finds out she's living with a vampire, that's bound to freak anyone out.

As Reginald said, "I'm at once surprised, because it is really silly, and not at all surprised."*
I think that sums my reading experience up quite well.

Overall, a fantastic read if you're looking for something a little out the vampire norm with a more fluffy, silly plotline.

My Roommate Is a Vampire was such a fun and charming book. I easily binge-read this late into the night and could not stop until the conclusion was met. This story is about Cassie, an artist that is down on her luck. She finds a Craigslist ad for a ritzy apartment that is cheap to rent and seems too good to be true, especially when she moves in and finds that her roommate and landlord, the mysterious Frederick J. Fitzwilliam, has a few conditions such as never entering a certain room and never enter a closet that has a big lock on it. Beyond that, Frederick dresses and speaks as if he lives in the Regency era, only comes out at night, and is oddly pale. Nothing fishy about that at all. Since Cassie is left with no other option despite the oddities, she decides to stay in the apartment and finds herself growing closer and closer to the enigmatic Frederick, who is on a schedule opposite hers so they end up writing each other letters throughout their days. Just when Cassie starts to believe that maybe there is perhaps something between them, everything changes when she discovers a bag full of blood in their refrigerator.

The premise lived up to my personal hype. I really enjoyed this book. I thought Frederick especially was a rich character that I loved getting to know. I think Cassie was funny as well, although she just did not shine as much as I would have liked considering she is the main character of this book. The romance was to die for (pun intended), and I just found myself smiling constantly at the banter and dynamics between Cassie and Frederick. Would recommend. A bloody good romance!

This was fun, but I'll admit that parts fell a little flat for me - just a couple times, so just 1 star removed, but wanted to mention it still. I absolutely love the cover though and still plan to grab a copy of it for my bookshelves! I also know this is a bit biased, lmao, but I love stories that have characters with my name! It's just so fun, haha.

I love the concept and the idea behind the story, but it felt like it needed more development. There were a ton of funny bits that I enjoyed, but overall I thought it was lacking in a lot of areas, especially concerning Frederick. His personality seemed kind of inconsistent. There were times that I wish we could've seen more background and development from him. I think he was still enjoyable to read about and really funny but there needed to be some more buildings for his character. The same goes for the story, as it felt a bit surface-level. And the ending especially left a lot to be desired. There was surprisingly a large amount of time discussing Buffy for such a short book.
Cassie was the best part of the story as I loved getting to see her become more confident and secure in herself as an artist. Overall I enjoyed the book and thought it was fine.

This was such a fun read! Finished in one sitting, because it was just so cute. Cassie responds to a roommate wanted Craigslist ad in upscale neighborhood at a too-good-to-be-true price. The owner of the house keeps odd hours, speaks and dresses like he's in an episode of Downton Abbey, but Cassie is out of options as she's being evicted from her current housing situation and works part-time jobs to make ends meet.

It is too-good-to-be-true, as her housemate Frederick J. Fitzwilliam is a vampire. The odd couple scenario is super cute, and I really loved Cassie and Frederick separately, but especially together. Although this is told from Cassie's POV, there are fun text conversations, diary entries, and letters from Frederick sprinkled at the beginning of each chapter.

I binge read this entire book in one evening. There were many times I had tears running down my face from laughing so hard. I completely fell in love with Cassie and Frederick. They are couple goals, I loved everything about this book and will hence forth scream it from the hilltops. All the stars. (Oh and Cassie is right - Giles is the best man on Buffy.)

When you find a Craiglists add for a gorgeous apartment but for only $200... something's gotta be wrong right? Like the fact that your roommate might be a real life vampire... but rent is so cheap so why not? It doesn't hurt that he's also absolutely stunning and the sweetest guy ever. Cassie Greenberg is an artist, she just hasn't really found a way to make a living out of it. She's being evicted from her apartment but suddenly finds a too good to be true apartment listing for an extremely cheap price so she decides to apply for the listing despite her reservations... and when she arrives to meet her roommate its a absolutely gorgeous but slightly weird guy named Frederick J. Fitzwilliam who speaks very formally, is only awake during the night, and dresses like he came out of a regency novel. Despite all of that Frederick is extremely sweet and funny so Cassie decides to move in... but strange things begin happening... and when Cassie finds bags of blood in the fridge Frederick has some explaining to do. Falling for your hot vampire roommate?? When can I move in. This was such a cute and funny rom com and I adored Frederick so much. This was a really fun read and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a sweet light hearted rom com with a vampire in it!

Rating 1.5
This had potential, but it wasn't good. The dialogue was cringey and the story and characters were boring.

The entire concept of this book still makes us laugh: Cassie is looking for a new place to live and comes across a suspiciously-low priced ISO ad on Craigslist: only $200/month for a room in a gorgeous lakeside townhouse in Chicago. But beggars can't be choosers. When she moves in, her (super hawt) roommate acts a bit weird. He only comes out at night, has not a single cooking implement in the whole place. leaves her notes on stationery sealed with wax, and (perhaps weirdest of all) won't share the wifi password with her.

Yeah, he's a vampire, y'all.

The comedy of errors was the very best part! The romance felt a little secondary to the whole concept, but that didn't bother us. We would have really liked a little more vampire lore, though. We get dribs and drabs of it, but Frederick never sits down with Cassie and lays it all out. (Would this have been a little cliche? Sure! But WE'RE READING A VAMPIRE ROMANCE, we don't mind cliches.)

Would we read another vampire romance in this universe? Oh, yeah. Especially if it features Reggie...

This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the novel.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars

My Roommate Is a Vampire is a hilarious and joyful little romcom. The story follows Cassie, an artist desperately looking for a place to rent. When she comes across an odd ad for a roommate, she has her suspicions, but the rent is too low to turn down. She meets her new roommate, Fredrick J. Fitzwilliam, and immediately recognizes that he is 1) very odd and 2) very attractive. When Cassie finds blood in the fridge though..she has serious questions.

This book made me laugh out loud so many times. It is so goofy and unhinged, but so cozy and fun. I loved Fredrick and Cassie and their chemistry was so soft and sweet. Their banter was off the wall and wacky and I loved every minute. A nice change of pace from the typical forced proximity romcoms!

This is a kooky, cute vampire rom-com. This is Jenna Levine's debut and she did an excellent job of entertaining me. This is a Flatshare meets Twilight type of book. Only much funnier and more ridiculous. This had me laughing so many times.

Cassie Greenberg is an artist who isn't doing too well financially. She loves her art class at the library and has been applying for Art Teacher positions with no luck.

Frederick J. Fitzwilliam is a landlord who dresses and acts like a character from the regency era. He lives in an upper-class apartment in a nice area of town.

Frederick places a Craigslist ad for a roommate for only $200 a month. Cassie wonders what is wrong with the place or with Frederick since it is a nice area, but so affordable on her tiny budget. Surprisingly, Cassie was the only one to reply to the ad so he immediately offered her the room....on a few conditions. One, she is to NEVER go in his room. And Two, she is to NEVER open the closet door that is padlocked shut. Ya, not sketchy at all! But she is left with sleeping on her gay best friend's couch or sleeping on the street. She has no choice since she is being evicted. So Cassie ignores all the red flags and moves in.

What she didn't expect was that she was going to be attracted to the cute, weird guy. He writes her letters in nice handwriting and seals them with a seal stamp. They don't often see each other since they have opposite hours. She never did find out what he did before she moved in. She just assumed some kind of doctor, with his strange hours and his old-school manners. When she meets his friend, Reginald, she finally learns the truth about Frederick. Will that be enough to scare her away??

This one was hilarious and ridiculous and I couldn't stop reading it. Warning, there are open door scenes in this one. This was such a quick read but I highly enjoyed it. I can totally see this being a rom-com for the big screen. This was just the fun, light book I didn't know I needed.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing this highly entertaining DRC with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I really liked this one! I think the vampire element was a very welcome twist. I found found myself feeling like I was reading the same story over and over again, so this one felt very fresh. Well done! Sweet and funny.

Cassie Greenberg loves being an artist, but it doesn't pay the bills. She's days away from being evicted from her apartment and is desperate to find somewhere to live other than her best friend's couch. When she comes across an ad for a beautiful apartment that seems way too good to be true, Cassie figures she has nothing left to lose. Right off the bat, Cassie senses there's something off about her new roommate, Frederick J. Fitzwilliam. He's pale, oddly formal, sleeps all day, and stays out all night. He also leaves sweet notes for Cassie, asking her about her day or her artwork, and genuinely seems interested in getting to know her. But when Cassie finds a bag of blood in the fridge, she realizes her new roommate is hiding a big secret.

The premise of this sounded too good to pass up. While it was fun, I didn't love it as much as I hoped to. I think it was due to the structure of the story. Nothing felt fully fleshed out. It was almost as if the whole thing was still in its idea phase. I wanted more of Frederick and his backstory. It felt like everything about him was dumped on us at the end rather than building up to it. I also wished we got to see more of his vampire side. However, he was my favorite character because he was so hopeless and buttoned-up that he was funny without even trying. The romance between him and Cassie was okay, but again, it felt surface-level. It was a super quick read--I read it in one sitting--and I would still recommend it if you're looking for a quirky supernatural romance.

BASICALLY A 1000 yr Mr. Darcy MEETS A MODERN DAY GIRL LIKE US!

This is an absolutely laugh-out-loud, entertaining, and eccentric paranormal romance between a quirky, selfless, artsy heroine and a cinnamon bun immortal with dreamy Mr. Darcy vibes.

The main concept can be defined as "What We Do in the Shadows" meets "Flatshare" with more modern vibes.

Cassie is in search of an apartment when she finds an ad for a ridiculously cheap room. The roommate works nights and sleeps all day, dresses and speaks in an old fashioned way, and seems to have limited knowledge of current customs and events. It doesn’t take long for Cassie to suspect he’s a very good looking vampire.

This is a fun, whimsical paranormal romance debut. The storyline is cute and filled with pop culture references. Frederick is a sweet, quirky cinnamon roll main character and I enjoyed the funny side character, Reginald. The storyline is funny and lighthearted, with minimal conflict. It’s a very quick and entertaining read! There are plenty of vampire references like Twilight, Buffy, and Anne Rice books. If you like sweet, funny rom coms, Taylor Swift references, and quirky characters, you should read this book!

My Roommate is a Vampire is the story of Cassie, an artist who is struggling to find a place to live. She answers a sketchy Craigslist ad for a roommate, only her roommate is not exactly what she expects…
This is a very fun book; I really enjoyed it. The characters were fun and well developed and the relationships were believable.
I’m a sucker for vampire books and this has to be one of the most charming ones – the vampires in this book aren’t particularly frightening, and they’re more interesting as you learn about them and help Cassie introduce them to the modern world.
My only problem with this book is that I thought the ending was a little squished – it needed more time and felt a little rushed. Other than that, I recommend this book to people who like books about vampires, but not particularly scary ones.

3.5 stars. Artist Cassie’s housing situation is desperate enough that she ignores a color guard’s worth of red flags and moves in with the enigmatic Frederick. Her new roommate keeps weird nocturnal hours, has a forbidden closet, and owns no pots or pans. He’s also ridiculously attractive and seems to have no idea how to navigate 21st century America. Still it’s a shock (is it, though?) when she learns that he’s actually a 300-year-old vampire who needs her help to learn to operate undetected in modern society.

This was cute but I still have questions after finishing it. Frederick’s quest to fit into modern life was the best part. He’s so charming and clueless, like an adorable puppy. Their dynamic is very Kate and Leopold. But I was less invested in Cassie’s art career, their simmering romance, or the third act conflict that threatens the new lovers—and then abruptly wraps up.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.

I adored this sweet vampire rom com. Both characters, centuries old Frederick Fitzwilliam and human Cassie, are endearing and adorable and I was rooting for them right from the start.

Frederick, having suffered a century long nap as the result of his "friend" Reginald's prank, is now trying to learn to navigate the modern world. At Reginald's advice, he decides getting a roommate who is willing to assist him in his education is the best way to do so.
Enter Cassie. A little insecure, artistic and sooo ready for something good to happen in her life....

This was just a sweet, fun wonderful read!

This book was really cute! I have always had a love of a paranormal romance and this cute rom-comish one was right up my alley. I loved seeing how Cassie's and Fredrick's relationship changed over the course of the book. Cassie being such an artistic and eclectic individual while Fredrick is super straightforward and laced up is the perfect definition of opposites attract. I definitely laughed out loud during a couple of scenes, but I would have like to learn more about Fredrick's backstory and how he became a vampire. One other thing that I would have liked was this book to be longer but I do appreciate that the author left the ending of the book open for a sequel.
