I absolutely loved this book! I have always wondered what it would be like for a vampire to live in this time frame and have to figure out how to navigate through the modern world. Jenna Levine had the right idea when it came to this story's plot. I did not expect this to be a romance at first, but the fact that it was and it ended on a happy note was all the better. This was a story I did not want to put down but I also didn't want it to end. I think what I liked most about the story was the written interactions between Frederick and Cassie because it's nice to see that she accepted the fact that he still liked writing on stationary. Plus I loved how their understanding of each other they was when it came to communicating their thoughts about their overall situation. If there was a sequel to this, I would definitely read it in a heartbeat.

This was a cute, paranormal, vampire romance. It was different from what I’ve seen in terms of paranormal romance because it wasn’t a dark fantasy setting. Frederick is a vampire seeking a roommate to help him learn how to live in the 21st century. Obviously, he doesn’t state in the Craigslist listing that he’s a vampire but he does list a shockingly low rent for a Chicago brownstone. Which leads Cassie, a struggling artist about to be evicted, to apply for the rented room.

This book was basically a contemporary, roommate, forced proximity romance but with a vampire thrown in. For me, it was a quirky, fast, and enjoyable read that had me giggling at a few spots.

This is absolutely one of the best books I've read this year! This book is the lighthearted, laugh out loud funny, vampire rom-com I didn't know I was looking for! I just wish there was more - more Frederick, more Reginald and more vampire magic!

I thought the concept and cover were very interesting. I think it is a good light read and it had moments that were funny and ridiculous which was also why I picked up the book in the first place. However, I thought the romance was kind of forced considering they didn't interact in person for a large portion of the book, which felt very brief and unsubstantial. This made it hard to feel any emotional chemistry between the two characters.

This book caught me by surprise. I have never been very interested in vampire books but reading the description of this really caught my attention. I could not put it down. I loved seeing Cassie go through a typical life of being an artist and trying to find herself in a world she felt she didn't belong. And once she got to know Frederick and began to be a part of his world, I just completely feel in love with the story. This is funny, interesting, and definitely worth reading. I really enjoyed this book!

This might be a fun read for someone that is looking for a holiday/monster rom com but it wasn't for me. Cute cover, fun premise. Struggling artist goes to live at a suspiciously cheap apartment in Chicago and finds out her roommate is a vampire that's been asleep for over a century. (None of these items are spoilers). They have a supernatural attraction to each other and have to navigate it. There are some zany plot twists along the way to keep the reader's interest. It just wasn't enough for me and the writing style made me irritated by the characters (lots of inner monologue and time spent repetitively describing things.) I am a fan of silly, fantastic rom coms but I wasn't a fan of this one. (Too bad, that cover is delightful and great marketing).
thanks for the ARC!

As someone who was completely obsessed with vampire romances in high school, I was so excited to pick up this book!

My Roommate Is a Vampire was a quick, fun read! I binged it in one day. I was literally laughing out loud at the interactions between Frederick and Cassie. Frederick was so sweet and endearing, for a vampire. ;)

The slow burn and tension between Cassie and Frederick were perfection. I thought the notes they left each other were so cute, and I loved that Frederick helped Cassie to realize her true potential as an artist.

I deducted a few stars because the conflict at the end seemed a little out of place and rushed to me.

Overall, My Roommate Is a Vampire was an enjoyable, feel-good rom-com that I would recommend!

Thank you to Berkley and Netgalley for the eARC!

This one just didn't work for me. I had to force myself to pick it up and keep reading. The chemistry what lacking, the main character weren't particularly enjoyable (aka quite annoying), and it just felt like a lot of words were being said without anything actually happening.

Let me start by saying that when I got approved to read this book, I couldn't wait to dive right in. I was so hooked that I even read it during my sister's graduation, pausing just long enough to cheer for her before jumping back into the book. And let me tell you, I'm not the best at reading on the go, but I pushed through the car sickness just so I could finish this captivating story.

Now, here's the thing. Normally, vampire books aren't my thing, but this one? Oh boy, I loved it. I absolutely loved it. It had that special something that made it stand out from the rest. The way Jenna writes Frederick? Yes, yes, yes. I rarely develop crushes on "book boyfriends," but I couldn't help but fall in love with Fredrick.

Let's talk about Frederick and Cassie. Fredrick, a 370-ish-year-old vampire who had been in a coma for over a century, wakes up in modern society and needs to blend in. Then there's Cassie, a struggling artist who takes a chance on his creepy Craigslist ad out of desperation.

The pacing and storytelling in this book were top-notch. The conflict of Cassie discovering Fredrick's vampire secret was resolved relatively quickly, which kept the story moving at a great pace.

Now, I have to be honest. The end conflict and final scene before the epilogue weren't my favorite parts. They were just okay. If I had to nitpick, that would be the small blip on an otherwise spicy and enjoyable story. But let me tell you, the rest of the book more than made up for it.

I can't get enough of Frederick and Cassie. I want their story to continue, and I'm secretly hoping for a spin-off featuring Reginald too. This delightful book is one I wholeheartedly recommend, and it's definitely going on my bookshelf.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a vampire tale that will sweep you off your feet, this book is for you. It's a spicy and heartwarming read that will keep you turning the pages until the very end.

This was such a cute, unique rom com.
Frederick's character was so funny, even though he wasn't trying to be. The letters he wrote, the way he signed him, his lack of knowledge of anything from this century, all of it was so entertaining. The way Reginald messed with him was comedy gold too. Cassie was such a sweet character, always positive despite what was going on in her life and the fact that she was willing to help a vampire acclimate to the world not knowing for certain if he'd end up murdering her and drinking her blood, well that was both naive and romantic.
I loved the spice! The fact that he could smell her is always so dang hot in books!

I can imagine it'll be even more entertaining when it's released with Halloween around the corner!

This book was one of my most anticipated contemporary releases for this year, and I'm still not sure if it lived up to the hype I gave it. It was much more ridiculous and campy than I expected (which is not a bad thing, just different than I expected). I don't love that the entire timespan of this book is like three weeks and they're completely in love way before the book ends, but somehow it didn't necessarily feel like insta-love. There was a good amount of pining and tension before the characters got together. My favorite parts of the book were Frederick (obv) and the way he speaks and acts, Reginald, and specifically the texts between Reginald and Frederick. In this book, Frederick and Cassie communicate mainly through letters to each other for some time, which I LOVE. Frederick is like if Mr. Darcy were a vampire plunged into the contemporary world and slightly more awkward. One of my favorite scenes in the entire book was when Cassie was showing Frederick instagram and he saw a post of her in a bikini and was shocked, appalled, and slightly murderous (plus his diary entry after was SO GOOD UGH). The only thing about this book I really disliked was the conflict resolution. Specifically how easy the conflict was resolved and how ridiculous the resolution was, but I suppose that goes with the tone of the book. I'm really hoping for a book with Reginald and his accountant, which the author hinted at in the epilogue!

**Thank you Netgalley for the ARC**. This book was absolutely hilarious and adorable! This is the realest vampire story I think I’ve ever read. The comedy and the awkwardness of the story was absolutely enchanting. I had to put the book down several times to stop laughing. The characters are relatable and lovable. The storyline itself really sinks its fangs into you and the humour is spot on. There’s spice but it’s not in your face and pretty tame. So many pop culture references and just great moments. 100 percent recommend this book to anyone!

This was a cute, fun read! It was just what I needed to get out of a reading slump. I loved the characters and their quirks. Some aspects of the book such as pacing could be improved but I enjoyed this and would definitely pick up other books written by this author in the future!

I really loved the relationship between Fredrick and Cassie. I really got to know them better and how they interact with each other before I dived into the spicy content. I hate when I am introduced to the characters and there is not much time until there is spicy content for me to even get to know them. I also think that the spicy parts were well written and this coming from a person that prefers cleaner reads. I think the ending happened a little faster than I thought it would, but overall I think it is a book I would recommend.

Another supernatural romance that is charming and fun. I am a sucker for vampire roms, and this one has great dialogue, excellent character development, and great tension!

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for an eARC of My Roommate is a Vampire!

This books was really cute and hilarious. It was very quirky at times. The only reason it does not get a higher rating is the rushed and anti climatic ending. I do recommend it for a quick and funny read though. A+++ to the cover design btw!

Utterly delightful rom-com! I've really been enjoying all the vampire books lately as I'm a huge fan and there's been very little vampire material in recent years. My Roommate is a Vampire is perfect for you if you're a fan of cute and fluffy romances!

"My Roommate is a Vampire" is an adorable romcom romp. Our heroine Cassie is in urgent need of cheap housing and finds an incredible deal on a room sharing situation. She goes to check it out and finds that the owner is...a bit eccentric. His clothing is beautiful but not exactly current. He is clueless about essential features of modern life and his language (and sense of humor) shows it. Oh, and he's also never awake during daytime hours. All of that would make one run--but the rent is cheap, and did we mention Frederick J. Fitzwilliam is very, very, very pretty?

The author isn't playing coy here about the book's intentions or the goal of the plot. This is a fun book, relaxing like a hot bubble bath, guaranteed to make you giggle.

With gratitude to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book.

This book was a delightful read that brought together comedy and romance in a charming way. The concept of a vampire, who had been asleep for a century, navigating modern life by taking on a roommate was amusing, especially as he learned about things like credit cards and how to order coffee. The story was full of laughter, and I found myself cackling with joy.

Cassie was a character who was still trying to figure out her life and art, and although she desired to be put together like her friends, she maintained her fierce independence. She opted to move into a cheap apartment with an odd older man named Frederick, who had a stoic and old-fashioned demeanor. Despite his initial denial, Frederick was smitten with Cassie, and the two developed a friendship as they learned about modern life together. Ultimately, they fell in love in a heartwarming way.

The story was filled with sweet moments, including the classic roommance staples, such as accidentally bumping into each other in a towel. I enjoyed reading this book immensely and am eagerly anticipating Jenna's next work.
