I really enjoyed this cute RomCom! I normally do not enjoy this type of genre. The addition of fantasy into this one had me hooked from the beginning. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys feel good RomComs with a touch of fantasy. It was extremely well written! I could see every scene in my head like a movie!
ARC in exchange for an honest review
This was a super cute romance, which I admit isn't my usual. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this, considering the minimal spice.
However, Cassie and Frederick were just too cute to not love. I do wish there was more story though. I could do with a sequel though I'm content with a stand alone.
The plot was simple and sweet and enjoyable. I thought there would be more with the not so nice ex fiance, but that's okay. A HEA is enough for me :)
Will be ordering for collection
This book was hilarious. I found it to be a really unique take on a vampire romance. I appreciated the humor and also the slow build up of Cassie and Frederick's relationship. I found myself laughing aloud at times at Frederick's obliviousness to this new, modern world. I had a lot more questions about the vampire world in general and wish more of them had made an appearance. Besides that, it's a cute book and worth the read if you like vampires, romance, and comedy.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC.
I just reviewed My Roommate Is a Vampire by Jenna Levine. #MyRoommateIsaVampire #NetGalley

This is a 3.5. Cute and utterly adorable. Cassie a modern women meets Frederick a vampire stuck in his old ways. That's it. Nothing wild and crazy here. It's like cotton candy with a hint of heat. Other than that a very sweet comfort read.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
Now that I've had a bit of time since finishing this, I'd say it's more of a 3.75 but I'm rounding it up to 4. I thoroughly enjoyed this! I've always wanted to read a vampire romance that was just a simple rom-com and that's exactly what this is. Very low stakes and no epic plot line or fantasy elements, which is what made this so great and unique.
The best part of this was the notes and emails that Cassie and Frederick passed back and forth, I loved reading them so much! Frederick has been asleep for a hundred years or so and needs Cassie's help learning about the modern world, which leads to some laugh-out-loud moments. I was in tears a few times from laughing so much. Frederick was such an old soul and a gentleman and always treated Cassie as if she was a noble lady in Victorian England lol always very respectful!
The romance was very sweet and even spicy at times! Also, look at that amazing cover!
The only thing I didn't really like was the bit of drama and action added at the end. It honestly felt unnecessary and I think a better plot device could have been used.
I really liked both characters but the pacing was a little slow and the climax was very anti climactic
This book was a “yes” for me! It was a fun, light, cozy, spicy, vampire rom-com. I found Cassie and Frederick to be likable, charming, and easy to get to know.
This was honestly such a fun, quick read for the right moment. I wasn't looking for anything serious and this was absolutely perfect. It was goofy and cheesy and had a really good time.
I would have thought that there was nothing new and unique to be written about vampires at this point, but I was wrong. “My Roommate is a Vampire” is funny, cute, and endearing.
This was a major disappointment. The plot was very weak. The denouement boiled down to fake social media blackmail. It made vampires seem extremely stupid. How could they survive and be this dumb? I made it to the end, but now am sorry that I did.
This was such a fun read! The plot itself is great but i believe this book shines because of its characters. they have chemistry and charisma and everything is just... great? i wish i had more time with it, but it's fast faced and when you see you've reached the end with a big smile on your face.
This is is a mashup between The Flatshare and Fifty Shades/Twilight (among many many other influences) and I didn't expect it to work so well. It's simultaneously tongue-in-bloody-cheek while also taking itself very seriously. The characters watch a lot of Buffy and the humor is hard to define, but on the whole, the story worked for me.
This book was a real swing and a miss for me. While the set up was excellent, the pacing was all over the place, and it felt like the characters had no real connection. We were continually told how attracted they were to each other, but we weren't shown in. Also, the third act was completely all over the place and introduced a conflict that was solved in like two pages. Unnecessary.
Our main female character felt much more like a YA heroine than a woman who was in her thirties and her art sounded all over the place - it makes sense why she didn't get a spot in the art show.
Wow! I had an absolutely delightful time with this book. I was crying from laughter at one point, it’s SO wacky and goofy and not what I expected. The only downside was I thought the ending was really abrupt and kinda lame, tbh, but overall still super fun!
What an absolute delight of a book. I loved the premise, I loved the execution, and above all else ... I loved the characters. I can't wait to see what else Jenna does in the future.
this was honestly so ridiculous and way too cheesy at times but so entertaining??? the third act conflict was so terrible, it was laughable. and don’t even get me started on the spice scene - there is no way in hell you could ever moan “frederick” and have it be hot.
a very lighthearted and silly read about a vampire trying to adjust to the modern world with the help from his artist roommate.
I was excited to jump right in! A quick one as I read it in one sitting. The beginning pulled me in and I knew it was going to be a silly read. Expectations adjusted ✔️
This was super quirky and cute. I didn’t mind the characters Cassie and Frederick but I didn’t really connect with them either. (They felt jumpy and under developed). Still though, I didn’t want to stop because I was curious how it would end up. The notes around the apartment they communicated through was super adorable 🥹 I love letters!
The plot wasn’t super deep or thought out and very character driven without being fleshed out. It was a fun read that was just … silly. The conflicts and resolutions were just goofy to be honest 🤪 it was a great cleanser for my mood reading self.
My Roommate Is a Vampire did everything I hoped it would and more. Going into this read, my hopes were high and I’m happy to say this absolutely lived up to my expectations.
Cassie is a starving artist just looking for a way to get by when she stumbles upon Frederick’s too-good-to-be-true ad looking for a roommate. Frederick, while having inhuman charm up to his ears, has no idea how to fit in with modern society making for a bumbling and enjoyable romp of a romance. I genuinely laughed out loud numerous times while reading and enjoyed reading from Cassie’s perspective.
For a shorter book, I found My Roommate Is a Vampire was very well paced! My only wish is that it was a bit longer because I was truly so charmed by this read, I came to the end and was left wanting more. I will certainly be recommending this.
This book is absolutely the perfect Romcom read. A delight from cover to cover.
Fredrick is our vampire and he is in need of a roommate to help him acclimate to modern life after a century in a drugged vampire coma.
That is where Cassie comes in. She is a starving artist barely surviving paycheck to paycheck from her 2 day jobs and she’s getting evicted.
Reginald is a — friend — of Fredrick from way back. He is also the one who accidentally drugged Fredrick a century ago causing him to be in a coma. Reginald keeps him alive until Fredrick wakes up and he’s also the one who puts an unrealistic ad on Craig’slist for a room to rent.
When Cassie finds the ad her best friend Sam convinces her to reply. Sam is our queer rep in the book and honestly I’m not too happy with how this aspect is portrayed. It comes off as added just to say it’s there.
All the characters are engaging and lovable as even the ones I’ve left unmentioned. This book is forced proximity trope as well as star crossed lovers.
One thing I couldn’t stand about the book is the miscommunication trope. I hate it in any book. There is no way they could not tell that the other was into them. None. The signs were literally rubbing all in their faces.
Overall I loved this book. It would have been 4.5 stars if not for the miscommunication aspect but this rom com still is everything and more so it gets 4 stars from me and I recommend to every Romcom lover!
This one didn't grab me as much as I had hoped it would. The story itself dragged a bit but boy did I adore Frederick and seeing him attempt to navigate the 20th century!
Thank you for the chance to read early!
