Touch of Faete was an overall enjoyable read. Initially I was thrown off by how the book was written because it felt like book 2 of a series, especially the way Ryanne describes her relationship with the Fae. It would’ve been nice to get a little more backstory there, but after a few chapters I feel like the book found it’s rhythm.

I know Titus the villain/morally gray love interest, but I enjoyed him more than I did Ryanne. She kept frustrating me with many of the choices she made (dismissing Bricius’ initial warnings), being a bit naive when it came to trusting/figuring out how to get in good with Titus, but I’m hoping that she shows some maturity in the next book.

The book is an extreme slow burn, so much so, that it feels more like a regular urban fantasy than a fantasy romance, but maybe the steam will pick up in book 2.

Again, overall I enjoyed the book and will likely read the sequel.

Our main Character goes on a pretty awesome journey through “Touch Of Faete” She has her pixie friend Bricius as her guardian and she has lived her life this way since 8 when she was touched by Fae. She has went about her life and enjoyed have one in two different worlds. Along comes a pirate name Titus and everything changes. Can she find the spark, can she fulfill the assignment that’s been laid at her feet. Did I mention she doesn’t like being in open water. Makes it tough when you get tangled up with a pirate. I enjoyed this read a good bit. Some of the words for the characters and worlds I ended up skipping over because I wasn’t sure how to say them. Other than that this is a strong 4 star book. I

I feel like I’m missing some thing. At the beginning of the book, it felt like it wasn’t the first book in a series or I have been thrown into the middle of a book I’ve never read before. Not a lot of explanation and so many different things going on all at once. I couldn’t figure out what to pay attention to first.

This is a beautiful story of learning to understand and crossing the barriers of prejudice and ignorance. There is a young woman touched by Fae who takes it upon herself to get to know a pirate, a hated bradai and mortal enemy of the fae, and believe in him before there is any proof that her believe may be justified.
The book touches some deeper themes, for instances what happens when you have been raised a certain way, to be a certain way and believe there is nothing else? What does it take to make you believe you can be more? The bradai, Titus, did not believe he could be anything but a killer and mercenary, and it hurt him. However, it took someone to see the possibility of there being more for him to see he had a choice. I loved the story, I couldn't put it down. The characters are inspiring and constantly growing, it is a truly special experience to be there as they question themselves and their beliefs as they grow and reshape.
Why only three stars? Well, the writing needs improvement. Sometimes it felt quite immature and that caused me some annoyance from time to time. Everything else was wonderful.
Final thoughts: Where is the second book???

A slightly awkward girl trying to find someone, which is difficult when you have to many “rules” and see an invisible pixie and have visions . A dual POV makes it easier to understand the mentality of our characters. If you like morally grey men, forced proximity and enemies to “almost” lovers.
However i found it difficult to read with the conflicts between the urban/modern aspects and the fantasy.

I enjoyed reading this book as a huge fan of fae books and found this one to be a lovely fresh take on the fae. I don’t feel that this book completely fit into the adult Fantasy genre but more into the Ya category.
I enjoyed the world building and felt that the plot started off brilliantly at first but did slow down towards the middle of the book before picking back up again.
I enjoyed meeting the main character but did feel like Ryanne came across as immature and naive at points which I felt didn’t mesh well with what I was reading.
This book is a slow burn romance which I did enjoy.
I do look forward to seeing where this series goes.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I tried to get into this book, but there was nothing that grabbed my attention. I am not the biggest fan of first person, so perhaps that is why I couldn’t get into it. I still give it two stars because I thought the whole idea behind it was interesting enough.

3/5 Stars

I enjoyed reading this book! I had a good time and found the premise interesting. Urban fantasies that focus on real-world trends tend to throw me off a little, but this book did not have too many references, which I enjoyed. I was also more impressed with the writing as it was on the mature side in comparison to others books of the same genre.

I enjoyed the characters, but the world-building and the pacing were a little lacking for me. I thought I was left in the dark about the world or there would be a random info-dump. Furthermore, I was almost a fourth of the way through the book and I was not sure what was happening and largely had to come to conclusions myself.

Overall, I enjoyed this book!

This was such a good fantasy filled break from my normal romance reading. This book is all about this girl, Ryanne, who is touched by fae, meaning she has some small fae powers even though she’s human. A man, who is essentially a pirate, tries to kidnap her but instead gets kidnapped himself by her mentor. She realizes that she had been kept in the dark about a lot of the fae world and about her own background and is set upon a quest to see if this pirate had a spark in him like fae do. Through this quest, she is able to learn more about her powers and also ends up having feelings for the pirate.

Overall, I felt like this was such a good and well balanced novel. I loved the characters and I cared about what happened next to them. The world building was also awesome. I loved the building dynamic of Titus figuring out emotions while Ryanne is teaching him and they end up building their relationship. I hope there is a sequel about what happens next!

Yeah… no. DNF at 13%. It was apparent very quickly that I would not enjoy this book. I’m a stickler for good writing and authentic characters, and based on what I read at the beginning it was clear that this book was lacking in both categories. The female main character seemed pretty immature for what is supposed to be an adult/new adult fantasy, and her pixie sidekick felt like a caricature. The male main character felt too stereotypically villainous, from his actions down to his appearance, in a way that, in my opinion, showcased the room for growth in the author’s writing and not in the potential for the character’s, well, character growth. Overall, I think this book had some good ideas going but it needed a lot more work before being released, even as an ARC.

Wow oh wow. I am very happy to have the opportunity to ARC read this book. Touch of Faete (clever play on words btw) is a very quirky, unique story that will have you laughing from the first line. This book is "The Cruel Prince", meets "The Bridge Kingdom," but add a little pirate fantasy with a touch of "Beaty and the Beast." To top is all off, Ryanne is such a great FMC.

Summary:
Ryanne has a gift, the touch of fae, that connects her to the faerie realm. Unfortunately (or fortunately), she meets a vicious pirate (Bradais) who has been created to kill fae. Titus is controlled by his darker magic, he calls it the beast, and suppresses all goodness (emotions, thoughts, fae magic). Ryanne and Titus meet, igniting the spark of goodness in Titus. Ryanne is pushed by her Faerie mentors to fulfil her purpose, which is to build a bridge between the Bradais and the fae where her emotions will also be tested and she will learn that her touch of fae is much more than she thought.

Review:
Ya'll this book had me feeling all kinds of things. It comes out in a few days so please add it to your TBR's, you won't regret it. Ryanne is the cutest character. I love her stubborn spirit, and her banter with the other characters had me uncontrollably laughing. However, Titus was an interesting character. I loved him for the first half of the book, instant new book crush. Titus' beast is a large aspect of his character, and the readers get to see his inner dialogue as he tries everything to keep the beast ruling his body. Around the second half of the book, his dialogue changed to reflect his internal struggles and lack of emotional intelligence. Ryanne causes Titus to question things and good magic begins to push through the beast. Though, I understand this is purposeful, it gave me the ick. He often said things like "be my lover," or "let me bed you," and repeatedly called her "woman." This probably was my only complaint throughout the book, and the only reason why it is not a five star read for me. I do think the author did this purposefully so us readers can truly appreciate Titus and fully understand that he is more beast. I do love that and appreciate this style of writing. However, the Titus I loved at the start of the book had come back by the end. I cannot wait to see his development in the next book. I hope Ryanne stays the same cause she is just perfect.

Overall, I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. I cannot wait for the next one!

I received a copy of eARC for my honest opinion.

To be Fae touched is it a good thing or bad thing? What if in order to continue to be Fae touched you were asked to complete a special mission, one that you might live to see tomorrow or maybe you might be able to complete the mission and save the Fae & Bradais too.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. I love that we get to see the Fae world a little differently but at the same time you still get to see all the wonderful parts that I have come to love when reading any Fae book. You will get to see Fae, pirates, pixies and so many more characters in this book. You will not be confused or bored while reading it as well. Always something else going on or Ryanne trying new ways to get the information that she needs. I thought the plot was different but with the same Fae vibes that almost everyone loves. The writing style was great, and it flowed well. I loved the details that helped to bring the Fae and bradais to life for me and I loved learning about the difference between those two. I enjoyed having the dual POV from Ryanne and Titus.

It really helped me to connect and understand the characters more. I love how Ryanne is strong, determined but at the same time knows what is right and what is wrong. She is caring but not a pushover at all. I loved her sidekick so much; he is so funny and you will find yourself laughing at some of the things he does. He is a pixie and he kinda acts like her big brother, he trains her, guides her throughout life, and even when she was in school, he would correct the teacher when he would say something wrong that happened in history. Titus is an interesting character; I loved his broody, bloodlust, gold loving, stuck in the old times personality. He is a complex character and I think we only got to see a glimpse of all of him. I loved the banter between those characters and the slow burn but can see/feel the chemistry between those too. I cannot wait to learn more about both of those characters in future books, also I really, really, really hope that we get the next book soonish lol.

If you like forced proximity/enemies to “hopefully” lovers/one bed, Fae worlds, action, romance then you should pick up this book.

I want to thank NetGalley and Cursed Dragon Ship Publishing for the opportunity to review this book.

Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC & opportunity to read & review!

Although this is an “Adult” Fantasy Romance- imo it had more of a YA vibe. The FMC- just had a naivety & personality that felt more like a teen/early adulthood outlook. This is a high/low fantasy in the real world, and Faery realm. It was a little bit of a Peter Pan & Pirates twist but with Fae.

I thought the plot was interesting, and tropes that I noticed were:
-Forced Proximity
-Captor/Captive
-Tend to wounds
-Enemy to potentially lovers
-Morally Gray MMC redemption
-Grumpy Sunshine

I think anyone who like fairytales & contemporary romance chick-lit would find this fun. The FMC is big on “rules” in the dating game, and I found the main romantic interest to teeter on a balance between someone I could root for & someone I loathe. The romantic interest was a bit too unrequited and questionable- but perhaps this will be explored further in the series?

I wish the author included a glossary of terms, bc it contained a lot of (what appeared to be) Gaelic/Irish terms in classic Tuatha De Danaan terminology- but in a very RomCom & American Setting. This felt conflicting to me- and I would have liked to have more information with terminology etc.

All in all, this was an easy read.

This was a very interesting book with a different plot then most Fae fantasy stories.

It hooked me in right away. The characters are book likeable and not - very grey. I didn't know it was a series until it was almost done and I realized there are plot points that were not answered.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. I loved that dragon are real and hope they are seen in the future because who doesn't love a good dragon.

If you are looking for spicy I would say look else where. If you are looking for a slow burn romance this is your book!

I am so happy I got an ARC of this book but sad that I know have to wait for this to come out and then the 2nd to come out.

As this has not come out yet I recommend to the author to add a dictionary as there were some words/phrases that I was unsure of what it meant when talking about the fae magic, such as Aline. Still not sure what it means.

I was instantly hooked to this story as soon as Ryanne was introduced. Ryanne’s fiesty little sidekick pixie, Bricius is always at her disposal or on top of her head… protecting her from all the bad men and I think we could all benefit from having some of his ✨pixie dust✨ in our lives. Titus is an immediate jerk whose only missions are to get the gold and kill the fae, but somehow bantering with Ryanne has warmed his little pirate heart and is quite entertaining.

While some time is spent in Tír D’aois (the fae realm), the human setting is in Seattle. Not that I am biased or anything, but as a local to the Greater Seattle area… I appreciated this minor detail 😉 honorable mention to Alki. Seattle’s own liquid gold.

Touch of Faete was so easy to get lost in and I really do hope Ligia decides to continue Ryanne and Titus’s story!

It had me hooked from the beginning but it did slow down in the middle and I did have to struggle through maybe a good quarter (there was a lot of scene setting and character building which is usually fine but I was having a low concentration couple of days so I can’t really blame the author for this)
.
By the end I absolutely loved the characters & the story! It’s for sure a slow burner but well worth committing to! I loved it and I’m beyond excited for the next in the series!

Thank you to Cursed Dragon Ship Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A Touch of Faete is a fast-paced fantasy romance read. This seems to be the first book of a series in good versus evil and how two people can balance each other.

I enjoyed the storyline. Looking forward to see how all the characters develop- if this book is the beginning of a series.

I am definitely going to stick around to see what becomes between Ryanne and Titus.

It’s been awhile sense I felt like I was thrown into the deep end of an amazing adventure. What a delight! I couldn’t put the book down whenever I got the opportunity. The author certainly knows how to capture her audience, and I can’t wait for the second installment!

Based on the description this was a book that I thought I would really enjoy. However, I put this book down and picked it up more than once before finishing it. It was difficult to get into and I struggled with Ryanne’s naïveté. The interactions between Ryanne and Titus also didn’t feel natural and genuine.
The premise had so much potential and I felt like it was underdeveloped and it took the author too long to explain some of the elements specific to the world she was building so I was often confused.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this novel from Net Galley and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Received as an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, this review is of my own thoughts and opinions.

This has been an amazing book! I called in to work just to read it 😌 i love the characters and the whole plot is excellent, I am truly looking forward to reading the next book!

The writing style is actually one of few that I don’t find myself skipping through descriptions or skimming through paragraphs. There is a lot of world building, however, it does seem necessary and definitely helps to paint a picture!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone! Adventure, romance, fae, it has everything you need!
