Hard Feelings serves up a nostalgic friends-to-enemies-to-lovers arc, and the tension between Glory and Killian is palpable. Their past connection and unresolved feelings had plenty of potential, but at times, the pacing felt off and the emotional beats didn’t fully land. While I appreciated Glory’s journey through gossip and small-town scars, the rekindling of trust felt rushed in parts, leaving some key conflicts underexplored. Still, their dynamic has an authentic charm that kept me rooting for them.
TL;DR: A bittersweet tale of mending friendships and first love, though the emotional buildup felt uneven.
This is a best friends to lovers, second chance romance, and so much more. Early on in the book we find out that Glory and Killian are childhood best friends. They grew up together, dealt with a significant family affair, disconnected & reconnected! This book has all the elements and character growth we all want in a book
Best friends to enemies to lovers? I'm here for it. I didn't want to put this down and I'm glad I didn't because it's a quick and easy read that gave me all the feels.
I love this one. Truly enoyable and a fun ready.
It's also mega short so I didn't felt like it was too long or too slow - which is perfect!!
This book was great! I love second chance romances so much and books with that trope are always on my autobuy list.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
I really enjoyed the writing style of the book. However, I did't really enjoy the premise of this book. After Killian's Dad and Glory's Mom have an affair, everyone kinda blames Glory for everything. Like why? I didn't really get that part. Also Lillian's behavior is very over the top. One big issue I had was that there was no real timeline. At one point I thought it happened within a few week and then it seemed like years. I don't know, I thought that was really confusing.
Unfortunately, I cannot finish this. I have tried, but after months of trying, it just isn't working for me. For one, I hate cheating in books. It makes it near impossible for me to ever root for a second chance romance. I did like a lot of the subplots - about friends and family. I just didn't care one bit if Killian ever got her back.
Love this new cover. Like loveeeee it. It makes me want a copy for my shelves. Great story with all of the best tropes!!
great potential, but ultimately a miss for me. The 'scandal' was anything but
Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the review copy.
I think this book had a lot of potential but it kind of fell flat for me, I don't mind infidelity, but miscommunication is a trope that I really struggle to enjoy. Galvin's writing is enjoyable and I did find myself engrossed in the story. I just wish that the execution had been a little tighter. Galvin created a story that depicts the messiness that comes with relationships, and I really appreciated that, However, I'm not sure if I would read any follow-up novels to this one. I enjoyed the non-romantic parts of the book more than the romance-focused parts, If I were to read more from Galvin, I would hope for some more slice-of-life-esque work because I think that's where Galvin shines. Thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to receive this ARC and reviewing. What a good new series of friends to enemies to lovers. It made me laugh and feel sad at the same time.
I recommend you giving this one a try and I look foward to reading the next one.
Such a cute story! I loved the hate to love aspect. It was really well done. The character build up was amazing.
Could’ve done without the third act break up and following “betrayal” but it was cute.
Having the twins as the best friend on either side of the feud was well done too
Also really loved the family aspect of the whole story

Title: Hard Feelings
Author: K.M. Galvin
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/4 stars
I was shocked that I liked this book as much as I did. I did think it was pretty risqué for the main characters being in high school, but it's just a book, so 🤷♀️ no biggie.
This book is friends to lovers, best friends to enemies, and second chance at love all in one! Childhood friends Glory and Killian find themselves in the middle of a huge scandal involving their parents. Glory's mom and Killian's father are having an affair! The friendship between the families and the children is completely destroyed. The story evolves as these two try to mend their hard feelings, not towards each other (well, kinda) but the situation their parents put them in. It was a cute book!

I received this book for free from netgalley for an honest review.
Dynamics between the two main characters were very complicated but also were intriguing. I enjoyed it.
Glory and Killian grew up together as best friends, until her mother, and his father, had an affair breaking up both marriages and the friendship of the two children right before high school started. It’s now Senior Year and things begin to shift again after Glory is injured playing soccer by a girl trying to win over Killian’s feelings. Too bad he’ll do anything to protect Glory. As they begin to reconnect, big, hard to manage feelings come into play as well.
Swoon! Friends to enemies to lovers? Yes please!! A very adult YA romance that managed to hit me in all the right feels! I loved this book and if I wasn’t sick when I was reading it probably could’ve devoured in 1-2 days max instead of 4-5! If you’re looking for your next hard feelings story - look no further! 😍
Thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for this ARC!
4 and a half stars!
hard feelings by k.m. galvin
i actually cannot tell you just how much i loved this book like reading this was literally superior. Is the plot/trope kind of basic yes but like i’m not one to complain about that i would never say no to a friends to exiles to friends to lover <3
reading this almost gave me punk 57 vibes almost like it definitely not the same but at some point it was very similar either way i absolute loved this book like there really was only one thing that i didn’t like otherwise it would have been a 5 stars glory and killian first off just their names i love the name killian sm i don’t know why or what it is about it but it just something about the name that gives hot boy vibes and as for glory honestly i like the name i think it cute
now i wasn’t sure how i was gonna feel about this book in the beginning only cause like he was rude the things i read about, the things that he did to her (especially on the first day of school) literally made me want to hate killian but it almost like two different people like he would act one way to her now but there would be a totally different version of him in the last, and how that person treated glory. But isn’t he end i have to say he certainly made up for it, i think just everything about them especially how they were childhood friends to beginning with just made this story so heart touching. The third act break up was kind of eccentric to me like it wasn’t bad just unexpected like i knew wit was coming but the way it was was just unexpected. but no spoiler i love the way they made up after that, they made up the same way killian had first tried to convince glory into being friends with him again (hint: field and night)
the part that i didn’t like too be fair it was a good part of the plot and it brought the mcs closer together but UGH the urge to throw my kindle across the room while reading this unbelievable Glory’s mother and Sebastian UGHHHHH i’m sorry but i cannot stand the two especially come back (prego) after things for both killian and glory were getting better i don’t know how they did it but i don’t think i could ever forgive them (the parents that lefts) for it NO NOPE NEVER but good for them that they did
This book was one of the cutest reads of the year so far. It was a sweet book about two childhood friends who became kind of enemies after some family situations, but then Killian (the guy) realized he made a mistake, so he puts all his effort and time into making Glory forgive him and give him another chance. It was wonderful how the story developed and how realistic the characters were in their reactions to the situations presented. This is a book I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys a fluffy romance (with just a little bit of hot but not explicit moments) and the trope of friends to enemies + enemies to lovers ☺️❤️
Mark my words K.M Galvin will be the next big things. I have such big feelings for this book and these characters. The whole thing is effortlessly flawless.
The novel presents a classic and compelling story of young love and betrayal, and the power of forgiveness and second chances. The characters of Glory and Killian are well-developed, with their personal struggles and motivations being portrayed in a realistic and relatable way. The author does an excellent job of building tension and suspense, particularly around the scandal that threatens to destroy their friendship. The themes of small-town gossip, high school drama, and the fear of the unknown as graduation approaches are woven into the story in a way that feels authentic and engaging.
The romance between Glory and Killian is a slow burn, with their chemistry and connection building gradually over time. The reader is drawn in by their history and the possibility of a second chance at love, but the novel also explores the complexity of their relationship and the challenges they face in reconciling their past. The resolution is satisfying, and the characters' growth and evolution throughout the story feel earned and well-deserved.
Overall, "The Leap" is an enjoyable and emotionally resonant read, with a relatable and compelling story of young love, betrayal, and forgiveness. Fans of MA romance will find much to enjoy in this book.
