Not my bag. I ultimately found this story pretty forgettable and, to be fair, the tropes just weren’t my thing.
I’ll put it this way.
This is not a book boyfriend, this is not a book quick-and-dirty one night stand. This book was like a couple minutes with your favorite vibrator: the reliable way to scratch that itch with no messy clean up. No emotional hangups. No risk. In fact, this book will be forgotten as quickly as it’s over. Of course - it will get the job done.
Again, maybe this is my own fault as I knew going in it wasn’t my personal favorite type of romance. Unfortunately though, despite a decent plot and writing there just wasn’t much about it that stuck out to me.
Thank you netgalley and Xpresso Book Tours for allowing me to read this book. This book was a quick intriguing and heart wrenching read. It was definitely sadder than I was expecting but I enjoyed it. I liked the balance of mystery and romance. This book definitely made my heart squeeze at times when they were dealing with grief and the ending had me tearing up. I adored Drew and wished things would’ve been different for him but I was glad Dean and Briella helped each other through the grief and got the happy ending they deserved after everything they had been through.
I didn't realize right off that this was the third book in a series. But it can absolutely be read as a standalone. Though if you are anything like me, you are probably going to go right back after reading it and nab the first two in the series because this one is so good.
Brielle has had a crush on her brother's best friend Dean since she was a teenager. But he broke her heart. They went their separate ways and both thought they had moved on. They thought they could just be friends. But when something terrible happens and they rely on each other to get through it, they just may realize that there is far too much between them to ever just be friends.
This was a truly beautiful story about a second-chance romance and friends to lovers. Along with a bit of mystery thrown in. I will warn that there are some tragic elements. While that doesn't usually bother me, I will say this book had me quite emotional in a few different parts. I was truly invested and I knew there was no way I was going to be able to resist going back and reading the first two in the series. A.B. Medley has an almost haunting way of writing that has you experiencing everything her characters are and connecting you to them in an incredible way.
I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest thoughts and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is book 3 in series but can be read alone however I think you’d get more by reading in order.
I plan to go read the first two because this was so good.
This is Brielle and Dean’s story a sort of second Chance and brothers best friend. Though they never were together before each had feelings for the other in the past.
This story is heartbreaking though. Tragic in places. There is an interesting Mystery with some suspense.
The romance is a bit back and forth as the two main characters navigate tragedy and find themselves.
Holy smokes! This book is incredible.
Bree has been in love with Dean since she was girl but things never worked out. She was his best friends little sister and he broke her heart at 13. Now, they're grown up and friends. They have both moved on but then tragedy strikes.
This book is one that you will not be able to put down. Tons of suspense, romance and a bit of spice.
This is truly a wonderful read! I love a good romance, but suspense isn't my go-to. However, I simply could not put this book down! It was intriguing from beginning to end. I'm definitely looking forward to more from this author.
Nothing is more special than your first love. Briella was broken hearted, at such a young age, when her first love left her. Now with the town being set afire and things are starting to look like they are going after her, she is left with dealing with the man who broke her heart so long ago. Dean has always done what he thought was right and never started anything with Briella. Now with things getting dangerous, he is determined to keep her safe, but will he be able to keep his heart out of it? This was an amazing book that I couldn’t put down! I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
