Your Resource is Human: How empathetic leadership can help remote teams rise above
by Melissa Romo is helpful for remote or hybrid leaders looking to improve their management skills. It is not only relevant to remote work but also offers valuable insights for non-remote work. The book explores the challenges that remote workers face and provides actionable advice on how to adapt communication, embrace empathy, and inspire optimism in a remote team.

One of the key takeaways from the book is the importance of empathy in remote leadership. Romo notes that remote leaders must go beyond simply managing tasks and focus on building connections and driving culture in their teams. It’s how they can help their people do their best work and overcome the emotional challenges that come with working remotely.

I thought the "discussion starters" were helpful, because I can see it being difficult to broach some of these topics or know what to ask for each of them. While the information isn't applicable to all remote workers and managers (as there's different types of expectations based on the company you work for and what the set up is like), it's an interesting read overall and covers a lot of "pitfalls" that remote workers may have. The chapters are easy to follow along with and it moved along very quickly (I think the last 30-ish% was a recap/acknowledgements/bibliography). If you lead a remote team this might be a good resource to refer back to.
