It was a sweet book, but focused a lot on an old-age home group of people, and i couldnt really relate.

Emma tries to make up her shortcomings to her friend Mel by planning to make her birthday celebration extravagant, only realizing she had already promised a trip with her grandma on a Coach bus through Scotland. 💺🏰 Read: 2 young ladies with lots of old people that sure makes for an incongruous situation. Will they be able to tolerate the deficiencies of their elders and have a good time?

😍 I thought this book was super cute, I really loved the character developments and relationships woven through the coach bus. The novel has laugh out loud moments too especially when Emma and Mel have their own quips and sarcastic moments that the other don’t quite understand or catch onto, like feigning utmost interest in something completely bleak and then snickering amongst themselves. Ahh todays youth 😂

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy! Truly enjoyed this read and would recommend it! Check it out on pub day - May 16th 2023! 🗓️

Emma has messedup again and derailed her housemate Mels boyfriends plans for a romantic valentines day..

So she decides to make up for it she will take Mel to Edinburgh for a weekend break for her 29th birthday.

Emma's grandmother is still coming to terms with the sudden death of her husband she initially asks Emma to cancel a bus trip she had booked for her and her husband but then Emma suggests why doesn't she go with her grandmother instead, only one problem ita the weekend of Mels birthday.

So Mel and Emma are on a coach trip with a bunch of pensioners, what could go wrong.

This was a lovely book about acceptance and understanding.

I read it in massive chunks and it definitely kept me hooked.

If you are looking for a book that's just a little bit different but full of laughs and poignant moments, give this a go.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

When Emma ruins her best friend Mel’s Valentine's day, she vows to make it up to her by giving her a birthday weekend to remember. The only problem - Mel’s birthday falls on the weekend Emma is supposed to be going on a senior coach trip with her grandmother.

Emma convinces Mel into going with them and they all board the coach headed for Edinburgh. On the coach we meet a variety of interesting characters, who inadvertently teach Mel and Emma about life and friendship.

It was a bit slow to start with, but then it really grew on me and I really enjoyed the dynamic between Emma and her grandmother. A quick and fun read.

Thank you NetGallery for an ARC. Out on the 16th May.

What a cute book. I love to read about the relationship because grandmother/granddaughter. How they traveled together to scatter ashes of the grandfather. It was such a sweet book.

I liked this book. Not from the beginning, mind. It had slowly grown on me, like the two groups of the coach party: the old, and the young had grown on each other. It was good to see how quite opinionated people on both sides had learnt to respect each other and form an unlikely friendship. We met interesting characters and learnt about captivating life stories and situations. My only objection was that it had ended too abruptly.
Still, it is a heartwarming story, so I can recommend it to everyone.

A wonderful feel good read that manages to make you laugh out loud but also well up at times. wonderfully depicts and brings to life the different characters and manages to address stereotypes in society.

Heartwarming, funny read that is suitable for a variety of ages. I didn’t want to put this book down.

I enjoyed this story! It was nothing too memorable for me but in the moment I enjoyed it for what it was. I had a bit of trouble connecting with the characters so that may have caused the issues for me. But the ending really picked up for me and I enjoyed how it all wrapped up.

Thanks to NetGalley for an arc of this book. Below is my honest review.

Emma believes is average. She is of average intelligence, average looks, etc. She isn’t anything special except for her ability to arrive late and mess everything up.

Emma forgets to give her best friend a Valentine’s Day card from her boyfriend, Jonathan, before Mel leaves for work in the morning. This ruined Mel’s Valentine’s Day. She didn’t get the instructions for a once in a lifetime special night. Lots of whining and complaining ensue. (Ugh, really? She wasn’t told how important it was. And it slipped her mind. If it was that important SAY SO. Text a confirmation. SOMETHING)

To make it up to Mel, Emma pays for them to have a romantic dinner. Not only that, Emma plans to take Mel on a girls trip to Edinburgh for Mel’s 29th birthday. However, Mel is clear that if Emma messes up one more time, Mel is done. Friendship over.

Then MEL DUMPS JONATHAN FOR WANTING CREDIT FOR THE GRAND GESTURE. He wanted a medal or something. Seriously? Mel is the absolute worst.

Emma’s grandpa passed a few months ago and she is worried about her grandma. Her grandparents had booked a coach trip from Leeds to Edinburgh to celebrate their 50th. They did almost the same trip for their honeymoon, but that time was on a Harley. Emma volunteers to go with her. When is it? It ends right in the middle of her girls trip with Mel. Mel is … surprisingly understanding and volunteers to go, too. She wants to make that a girls trip and forget about grandpa. Unsurprisingly, Mel dislikes people who are older.

What could possibly go wrong?

I mostly enjoyed this one. Emma was fantastic, as was her grandma. Mel though…if you haven’t caught in yet, I didn’t like Mel from the start and she never won me over. She tried to be better towards the end but she was just too selfish and rude for me.

The coach is filed with a variety of people, all decades older than Emma and Mel. Some are delightful, some are ornery, some are rude, and some are incredibly kind and thoughtful. The tour guide, Robin, was a strong side character.

My favorite parts of this book were when Mel realized she isn’t a disaster and when grandma was on the island. Grandma showed how cool she was in her youth. Both of their good deeds were well crafted.

The book really improved in the last 25% or so. I wish I ended up actually liking Mel, but otherwise I’d give this a whirl if you want to read something low key and not stressful.

The Coach Trip by Izzy Bromley provides a delightful reminder that life is all about the journey.

Emma has inadvertently ruined Valentine's Day for her best friend Mel and is determined to make it up by promising to give her a birthday weekend to remember in Edinburgh. But while visiting her recently widowed grandmother, Emma learns of a coach trip that her grandparents were meant to take to celebrate their golden anniversary. Offering to step in as her grandmother's companion, Emma double books herself for the birthday weekend. Taking Mel along on the trip seems to be the perfect solution, but can the two friends put their biases aside to enjoy the journey with a bunch of senior citizens, or will they never see eye to eye with the strangers with whom they seemingly have nothing in common?

The Coach Trip was a delight from beginning to end with its uplifting message and a cast of characters you will not soon forget.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a free ARC of this ebook.
The Coach Trip is a light hearted story of 2 twenty-something young women accompanying one of their grandmother’s on a coach Tripp to Edinburgh via a number of northern cities.
It’s an easy read, pleasant enough with enough humour to keep the story uplifted. It wasn’t particularly to my taste, so I wouldn’t be tempted to read it again but I’m sure it will find favour with a lot of other readers.
