This was a difficult read simply because the two main characters were so unlikeable. At times I felt I was reading about two nine year olds rather than 29. The lessons they learned about the older people was told really well so they probably had to be unlikeable and derogatory towards the other characters for it to be possible for them to change their preconceived attitudes.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for an honest and unbiased opinion.
a second chance friendship novel
thank you to netgalley and to the publisher for this review copy.
Emma, darling, you are a mess... and I love you for it. This was a nice, easy read that didn't ask too much of me but did make me think, how dare it! The characterisation of both Emma and Mel felt pretty natural, Mel was a little mean at times about the older people they were travelling with but she softened towards the end - as did the older travellers opinions of her. I loved the way all the characters grew together, transforming each other along the way.
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book.
The perfect holiday novel…..sitting by the pool with a large glass of vino! I was hooked fun and laughter are the finest points in this book!
I absolutely loved this book, and it was the perfect summer holiday read.
The heart-warming story follows granddaughter Emma, who along with her flat-mate and best friend, Mel, join her grandmother on a coach trip to Edinburgh, in place of her late grandfather, who passed away before being able to make the trip.
Lots of twists and turns along the way and the coach trip is nothing but boring for the couple of twenty-somethings – whoever knew that oldies could be so much fun and that you’d end up making friends with?!
Full of wit and humour, I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a read about friendship, family and fun.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in reply of an honest, unbiased review.
After Emma has messed up her best friend’s Valentines Day she intends to make it up to her with a girly weekend. But, she promises her Gran she will accompany her on a coach trip which unfortunately clashes with the dates. So, they decide they will all three go.
The two younger ones have preconceived ideas about the elderly passengers as do the oldies about them so is this a trip made for disaster?
I loved the characters, who all seemed life like, plus their back stories, and the storyline.
I read this book in one day whilst on holiday.
Loved this book,!! If I hadn't been so exhausted I'd have read in one sitting. Full of humour, love and empathy...lots of laughs.
Emma and Mel end up on a coach trip with Emma's Gran to scatter her grandfather's ashes. It all started to go wrong when Em agrees to go, not realising the trip was at the same time as Mel's birthday..so they go together. What could possibly go wrong?? Plenty does!! A really heartwarming feel good read. Look forward to reading more by this author. Highly recommend
A nice story about two young women joining a coach trip full of older people in the UK. Along the way they all learn about each other and go to some interesting places. The grandmother is really cool and they will never look at older people the same way again.
This was a quick and entertaining read with a large cast of characters who I really enjoyed getting to know. I was amused by a lot of the humour - especially the debate about how to make tea - and touched by some very heartfelt moments.
The road trip around the northern part of the UK was also a highlight as I have visited all of the locations (and live in one).
But unfortunately for me, I just couldn't get past how awful, Emma and Mel (our main characters) were. They were judgmental, rude, and entitled through most of the book. I realise the point of the story was to learn and grow when getting to know the wonderful cast of travel companions, but it was too little too late for me.
I loved this one, a gem of a holiday read. I guess we all have our ‘generic’ opinions of people and perhaps we should be much more open minded- everyone has a story to tell.
It’s a recommendation from me, thanks NetGalley for the advance copy
Fun, breezy read about a granddaughter going on a coach trip with grandma. Brings best friend along due to feeling like the friendship is owed the trip. There's a lot of fun in this story with some interesting introspection and life learning on behalf of the main character. Enjoyable!
A really delightful read especially for the Summer holidays it will have you chuckling with laughter or reaching for the Tissues!
Emma messes up Mel's surprise Valentines date ,so promises her best friend a fantastic Birthday surprise instead to make up for things. How ever after visiting her grandma Emma agrees to go on a Coach Trip with her in memory of her grandad & to help her gran spread his ashes in a memorable spot on route as the Trip will take them from Leeds to Edinburgh which is where Emma is arranging Mel's Birthday Surprise, well Mel ends up going on the Coach trip too, & after a bit of a grumpy start because other than Robin the Coach Tour Rep & Dave the Driver all the others are Elderly . I will now highly recommend that you read this book to see what adventures occur & how the varied Generations get on ! #NetGalley,#GoodReads, #FB, #Amazon.co.uk, #Instagram,#, #, #.
Chaotic Emma tries to keep the two promises she muddleheadedly made to her bestie and her gran respectively, to spend Valentine‘s Day with each of them, resulting in a coach trip to Edinburgh and a veritable ‚culture clash‘ between two twens and a busload full of seniors.
Absolutely adorable 🥰 This book ticked all the boxes. It was funny, sweet, poignant at times, and also made me laugh out loud. When two twenty-somethings go on a coach trip full of OAPs, their initial opinions of each other aren’t great. As the story unfolds, opinions change, friendships are made and adventures had. The character development is truly superb. By the end of the story I felt like I’d been on the coach trip with them and honestly finished the book with a smile on my face. It’s a fast-paced, easy and relaxed read (that was just the break I needed between reading all these thrillers)! I’d literally recommend to anyone - I loved it and I can’t wait to read more by Izzy!

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a delightful story, where one generation meets another and reach an accomodation. Some great characters all with their own prejudices and opinions which gradually change and they come to appreciate each other on a coach trip to Edinburgh. Very enjoyable and realistic story.
Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.
This is my first title by this author and will read more in the future.
This was a sweet, cosy read, with a bit of an unexpected and sad ending.
I enjoyed that they all made friendships throughout the trip.
This has me laughing one minute and nearly in tears the next.
Thanks again.

The Coach Trip was such a fun story! Emma trying to make it up to Mel for a mistake she made, whilst not wanting to let her grandma down resulted in what turned out to be a fantastic coach trip! I loved the characters and that the trip focused on the north of the UK, starting in Leeds and ending in Edinburgh. The bonds the characters formed as they all worked through their prejudices about older people (Emma and Mel) and young people (the older clientele on the trip) was so wholesome. Going from being strangers and struggling to get on, to becoming friends was just so lovely to read and get invested in.
There are some deep conversations and admissions that take place throughout the trip. But the support that the characters give each other is so heartwarming.
There are some grammatical/editing errors within this book, so I needed to reread parts for it to make sense. But overall it was such a lovely cosy book!
I’d definitely recommend!
Thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing UK and the author for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this book was absolutely fantastic. Uplifting and very touching. I could not put this book down and just had to keep reading "one more chapter" until it was finished. I love the smaller sized chapters and they work a treat. I loved how we got to know the characters more as the story progressed. I would have liked to have known what happened after the coach trip. I felt really connected to the characters. The epilogue got me close to tears. I would recommend this book to my readers friends.
I hugely enjoyed this delightfully humourous and touching story about 2 twenty somethings who end up joining in with a coach full of pensioners for a holiday in northern England. I particularly liked the interweaving of ages that led to some hilarious consequences. Moving, funny, sweet and beautifully written. Really good and highly recommended.
Funny and heartwarming story about friendship across the generations. Somewhat lacking in depth but an enjoyable and undemanding read.
With thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this story.
