A great summer read! A glimpse into the life of the very rich who charter a super yacht but told in a very warm, human way. Beautiful setting and likeable characters make this one to read on the beach!

A Summer on the Riviera by Rachel Barnett is a light-hearted, cosy and escapist read. From the get go, it reminded me of the TV show "Below Deck" with vivid and not overtly done descriptions. Rachel Barnett has created a great mix of characters and their secrets and motivations are deciphered extremely well throughout the book.

The protagonist Bella comes from humble beginnings and is driven to establish a name for herself in a new industry. But when the heart wants what it wants, will she choose love or her career? About 40% in, the realm of possibilities and the danger of secrets being unearthed, gave this a surprising element of tension and suspense. I was engaged throughout and found myself turning pages to see how the ending unfolds. Speaking of which, the ending had a few loose ends which made it a tad underwhelming, but overall, it was realistic and well done. If you're looking for a book which has elements of suspense and romance, do not skip this one!

This book was a little bit slow at first, but then I started to really enjoy it.

This book was not for me. I thought the characters' storylines and honestly, the characters in general, were not likable at all. It was tough getting through this book and I'm going to have to rate it only 2 stars.

A Summer on the Riviera by Rachel Burnett was so good.

It started slow for me cause it reminded me of my favorite show, below deck. But about 40% in it took A turn and I couldn't stop reading it. Lots of twists and turns I never saw coming. I was expecting it to be like all the other romance books but it definitely was not.
I was drawn to Bella, as she was falling in love fast. Cause her to have to choose between A job or love. Could you choose if you had too? Must read to find out what she chooses. Like I said lots of turns and I definitely don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Pre-order this book today so that you have it when it releases on May 2nd. I highly recommend this book and I hope there will be a book 2.

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

This was an okay read but rather predictable. It was okay but didn’t blow me away like the books of Leonie Mack and Mandy Baggott generally do.
I like my escapist romances to leave me with a feel good smile on my face and I struggled with this as there were so many loose ends. The book finished very abruptly in my view and the main romance did not get the page time it deserved, 3 stars.

New author Rachel Barnett is well worth reading!! A fresh new style to enjoy, loved it!
Bella has been working in the hospitality industry and has dreamt of a summer sailing in the Mediterranean giving the best service as part of the crew on a prestigious yacht as chief stewardess. It’s an adventure that will test her to her limits! The first group to charter bring unexpected interest, intrigue, family secrets and more affecting Bella and the dynamics of the crew.
Highly entertaining summer escapism, this is a fabulous feel good read!!! Perfect as part of your holiday reading, hard to put down and hard to leave the characters once finished. Great story, great characters!! Just brilliant!!
Can’t wait for more from Rachel!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Embla books for the early read!!

I enjoyed reading this book, but felt it was rather full of obvious situations....super yacht, demanding rich people, difficult captain etc etc. It was good to see life from the stewardess' point of view. A light read but pleasant.
Thank you for the chance to read and review this book.

Bella plans her summer working as chief stewardess on a luxury yacht. She does not expect to fall in love with one of the guests, Leo. A wonderful romance and travelogue.

Bella has packed in her life in the management of a high-class hotel to work as first stewardess on a luxury superyacht. In a twist on the heartbroken girl leaves to find a new life, she goes from the seaside resort to life on the waves, with a steep learning curve and a few not-so-helpful colleagues.

Mel is nursing a grudge against the captain and thus the person he's appointed above her, and Felicia has a secret that is threatening to upset the luxury cruise she's arranged to celebrate her husband's birthday. We see events from all their perspectives, and also pop into the head of Leo, Felicia's nephew, invited along for a particular reason that will become clear.

There are plot twists and red herrings and I enjoyed all the detail about running a luxury holiday yacht from the downstairs inner workings to the upstairs luxury. The plot was well done and the characters had varying levels of detail; there was a small amount of diversity with a sympathetically portrayed gay character.

A great holiday read especially if you're near the sea at the time - and a good recommendation for a seasickness cure which I can confirm has worked for me in the past!

This was my first book by author Rachel Barnett, and won’t be my last!
She also writes as Laura R. Leeson.
The title and the cover were what drew me first to this cute romance.
The storyline of the main character Bella Mason embarking on a new job on a private yacht, and the adventures to come, was what confirmed that I wanted to read this book.
The author is really good at depicting a fun, enjoyable, entertaining story, all while including some fun twists and turns.
I flew through this book and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thankyou to author Rachel Barnett, Netgalley and Embla publishing for the opportunity to read this book!

Loved this story of Bella who takes a job on a luxury yacht as chief stewardess and learns very quickly it is not as glamorous as she thought. Bella finds out very quickly how hard it is to look after rich people especially celebrities who are very demanding. On top of that is the jealousy of the cabin crew and constant sniping.
Loved the setting and the descriptions of the places they visit.
Looking forward to reading more and thanks to NetGalley & Embla Books for ARC for a honest review.

This is such an enjoyable story! Set on a super yacht, Bella has just got her first job as Chief Stewardess on this seven-star luxury cruise around the Mediterranean, and isn’t quite sure what to expect! Having previously worked in hospitality in a hotel,,covering every aspect of the job, and also managing the waiting team and catering department, Bella thinks that working on this gorgeous yacht is something that she is capable of handling. The crew that she will be working with soon provide her with a challenge, particularly Mel, the second stewardess! Captain Jean Philippe Kirque is by no means an easy person to get along with, and add a temperamental chef to the mix and Bella can see that it’s not necessarily going to be plain sailing!! The guests on the yacht are very wealthy, the primary guest is a famous actress, and they expect every luxury they could want, and all their needs to be attended to., Leo is the nephew of the primary guest, and Bella is immediately attracted to him, which could be a real problem. As the cruise begins, tensions are already rising between the guests, and also the crew members. Rules are not necessarily adhered to, and Bella finds herself in a tricky situation.,
A luxury cruise is something to dream about I think, and I found this lovely book to be highly enjoyable, with a cast of characters that I could engage with, and a storyline that I really liked. Recommended.

3.5 stars rounded up.
Bella has landed a new job as first stewardess on a luxury yacht for the summer.
Not everything is plain sailing as second stewardess Mel takes a dislike to Bella as she feels the job should have been hers.
Bella also suffers seasickness.
There is plenty of drama in this cosy summer romance, and for the most part, it was an enjoyable read.
I felt the ending was a little rushed
Thanks to Embla Books for the ARC in return for an honest review and to Netgalley
