I read The Polite Act of Drowning in one gulp on a long plane ride. Charleen Hurtubise wraps her words around your heart and tugs ever so gently, not letting go until the hurt, love, melancholy, and angst swill around you in her intense and memorable book.

Thanks to NetGalley and Black & White Publishing for the opportunity to read this beautiful ARC.

This book is such a complete work in terms of all it offers. The author’s writing style suits the subject matter perfectly and she is able to clearly paint a picture of the locations and people included. Many aspects of the book are heartbreaking and the author cleverly weaves the story in such a way as to make you so invested in the characters that you can’t put the book down.
