I was not familiar with this author before picking up this book. But I have to say the story was one of the most sensual love stories I’ve read in a long time.
The author is more like an artist with a paintbrush as she describes, in intricate detail, the connection between two people, both physical and spiritual. It was both beautiful and different. I truly could not get enough of this book.
The story has a familiar theme that we’ve seen in other stories. But the other novels have chosen to depict it in a romcom platform where this is so completely different.
The intensity and the involvement of the main characters made this intense and emotional. It was sexy and sensual. The visualization of each minute detail, such as his tattoos, makes you want to run your fingers right along with her up and down those vines.
This author is a magician. She captured my attention from the very first page, and I have to say, I was a little heartbroken that she followed similar formulas as other authors, especially towards the very end. Tears were rolling. You already had the buy-in, so that made me sad that it was necessary to add the drama.
I was a little angry at some typical scenarios, rudeness and casual disregard Evelyn tends to show, and the lightweight plot. But overall, I’m a sucker for the sensual romance.
If you’re looking for a stunning romance that is hot and steamy, but on a completely different level, you’ve got to read this book.
This is the second book in the Lovelight series, and I was really excited to read it because it’s about Beckett and Evie, whose connection was hinted at in the first book, and you could feel the chemistry between them. Before the start of Lovelight Farms, the pair had a one-night stand, fully expecting to never see each other again, but it’s pretty clear there are some unresolved emotions between them. I was so curious about how these seemingly opposite people got together and what happened to them.
Evie is a social media influencer who badly needs a break from the rigor of her job. She thinks about the last place she felt happy and peaceful and decides to return there, which is how she ends up at Lovelight Farms and with Beckett. I so related to her burnout. That’s exactly how I felt when I left my teaching career. Evie has such a great journey as she takes a good look at her life and figures out what is missing. She begins to think more about her happiness and what she really wants instead of being defined completely by her job.
And Beckett… sigh. He’s a dreamboat. A grumpy, tattooed kitten dad, Beckett is such a swoon-worthy cinnamon roll. He’s so gentle and quiet and kind. And the way he feels about Evie is super swoon-worthy. Every time he asked her if she found her happy today, my heart melted a little bit more. I just loved watching Beckett and Evie fall in love. They have amazing banter and chemistry, and there’s so much humor, thoughtfulness, and intimacy in their relationship. It’s really special.
I adore that we also get to see Stella and Luke, the main characters from the first book in the series. I adored their friends-to-lovers romance as much as I enjoyed this one, and it’s always great to see how characters from previous books in a series are faring. Beckett and Evie’s families and the people of Inglewild are also fantastic secondary characters, and I enjoyed the messages about family and friendship. And I’d love to be a member of the community phone tree, which is used more for socializing and gossiping than for emergencies. lol
Special thanks to Berkley Books for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.
In the Weeds is a delightful small town, grumpy sunshine romance that hit all the right notes for me. I enjoyed BK Borison’s second Lovelight Farms book even more than the first one, and can’t wait to read more.
4.5/5 stars
Quiet farmer Beckett and influencer Evelyn had a sizzling two-night stand in Maine, and never expected to see each other again. But both are stunned when Evelyn shows up in Inglewild to showcase Beckett’s Lovelight Farms a few months later. At that point, the two quietly dance around each other but don’t act on their continuing attraction. Months later, as Evelyn struggles with her growing social media platform, she decides to take a break to “find her happy” and return to Inglewild. She ends up staying with Beckett, for romance reasons of course, and the two attempt to figure out their burgeoning relationship while Evelyn decides what she wants to do next in her career. Can these opposite personalities make their romance work?
I adore a good grumpy sunshine story, and In the Weeds is a great example. While Evelyn and Beckett struggle to communicate at times, their chemistry and the way they balance each other out is never in question. I also liked that it was a dual POV, so the reader can see all feelings Beckett keeps on his head. Throw in some mutual pining, small town meddling, and a few kittens and a baby duckling, and you have a charming book that I didn’t want to end.
In the Weeds is a fantastic small town, opposites attract romance. I liked it even more than Lovelight Farms, and having a dual point of view made it easier to connect with both main characters. I can’t wait to see what BK Borison has in store next for the residents of Inglewild!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is #2 in the Lovelight series but honestly can be read as a stand alone!
It gives all the cute cozy rom com farm vibes which I did not know I needed. It has dual POV, grumpy vs sunshine, second chance romance. But it also has drinking on the back porch, a small town phone tree and baked goods.
“Did you find your happy today?”
Q: What’s one thing that made you happy today?
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!
super fun and lots of tension! beckett is probably my favorite male lead (he gets me) of the lovelight series and it was great to have dual pov after just stella pov in the first book. having both characters narrate helps the conflict feel more natural. although i don't love miscommunication, it was fun to see the author literally call it out through the writing and try to add a bit more depth to that. there should have been more of the duck, though.
I really loved Lovelight Farms, and I love that each follows a seasonal theme with the characters presented in the first book. Evelyn and Beckett’s second chance romance was the perfect, lovely spring time read.
Evelyn’s a social media sensation but has felt disconnected from it for awhile. And when she is doing promotions for Lovelight, she stumbles upon Beckett, who she had a weekend fling with awhile ago and hasn’t stopped thinking of since. Which is mutual - Beckett hadn’t been able to move on either.
Together, they have to work through their own insecurities and issues - Beckett struggles with trusting that she won’t just disappear again, Evelyn struggles with what she wants to do with her life and where she wants to do it.
Their chemistry, plus a lovely farm in the springtime, kittens, a bunch of small town busybodies, and one little duckling, make this an adorable contemporary romance worth checking out.
Disillusioned by the corporate grind, social media influencer, Evelyn drops everything to stay (temporarily) in the town of Inglewild. There she falls in love with a handsome local farmer, Beckett, whom she had a two-night stand with the summer before. Featuring a beautiful setting, small-town antics, kittens, sensual pining and a dash of hot smut. In the Weeds is, quite literally, a perfect romance.
We finally get Beckett and Evie's story in In The Weeds and it was worth the wait. I don't know what's in the water at Lovelight Farms but they should bottle it up and sell it.
In the Weeds by B.K. Borison is a heartwarming and captivating second chance romance that explores the individual journeys of Evelyn and Beckett. Evie, feeling drained by her social media career, returns to the small town where she once found solace and reunites with Beckett. As they navigate their renewed acquaintance, their undeniable chemistry and shared history pull them closer. The story takes readers on an emotional rollercoaster as they confront their fears, discover forgiveness, and embrace the possibility of a future together in the backdrop of Inglewild.
B.K. Borison's writing beautifully captures the tender and blossoming romance between Evelyn and Beckett, with a perfect balance of tension, tenderness, and humor. The reader is fully immersed in the world of Inglewild, a charming small town with quirky townspeople who add depth and a sense of community. Alongside the romance, the novel explores themes of self-discovery, pursuing passions, and finding joy in simple moments. With its engaging characters, captivating storyline, and enchanting setting, In the Weeds reminds readers of the power of love and the unexpected places where happiness can be found.
Overall, In the Weeds is a delightful and engaging second chance romance that will resonate with fans of small-town romances and heartfelt love stories. B.K. Borison's skillful storytelling, charming characters, and whimsical setting make for an enchanting read that leaves the reader with a warm and satisfied heart.
I adore this series, this being the second book in the series read as a standalone. It was a wonderful story that had me fall in love with the sweetest character that is Beckett. A delightful read that you won't be able to put down, utterly heartwarming.
This series has me in a chokehold. The small town aspect of this series is so incredible. It reminds me of Gilmore Girls, and I love reading just about the community. But then you mix in the ADORABLE romance, and it’s everything I want in a romantic comedy.
Evie and Beckett’s relationship is so entertaining to read about. Evie is a strong, independent woman just trying to figure out life. And Beckett is SUCH A CINNAMON ROLL. He’s so adorable in every way. The perfect book boyfriend.
The development between the two is both funny and heart wrenching. I was melting on the floor one minute and getting teary the next. Reading about them learning how to love each other made me feel all fuzzy inside.
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for access to this advanced copy. I was so excited that they picked up this series!
Lovelight Farms was such a joy of a book to read last year, I knew I was excited for whatever B.K Borison gave us next!
Also, the minute I saw this cover I knew I needed to own it, @inkandlaurel made the most beautiful cover and I could stare at it all day!
4.25/5 stars for this gem!

That’s my review, I loved it! It was a hearth-warming book about it second chances, found family and creating a home for yourself.
The YEARNING in this. The DESPERATION in this. The finding happy! I love love loved this one in the series. It was so deeply intimate and tender. The lake scene....c'mon
Ugh I just love this series so much!!! I loved all of the small moments Beckett and Evie shared. I love the grumpy x sunshine and opposites attract tropes, and I thought they had great chemistry. Every time Beckett asked Evie if she had found her happy my heart absolutely melted. Evie cared so much for Beckett, it just warmed my heart. I also loved that Beckett had such a soft spot for animals. The duck and kittens were one of my favorite parts. Also, the greenhouse scene will stick with me for a long, long time.
I couldn't wait to start Mixed Signals so I am currently reading that! I just can't get enough of Borrison's writing!
In the Weeds by B.K. Borison is the second stand-alone in the Lovelight Series. The previous book is Lovelight Farms and I absolutely recommend to read this gems in order. This is a wpnderful read and Beckett Porter soon became my fav character. He's a quiet man with a big and tender heart full of love to give.
And Evelyn St. James soon becomes the recepient of it.
I just loved everything about this heartwarming story, the writing is great, the storyline exquisit and the characters outstanding. An unputdownable read published by Berkley Publishing Group.
I recomend the book and the series, 5 beautiful stars.
Having LOVED Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison, I had high hopes for In the Weeds. My hopes were met however; I didn't connect fully with Evelyn as I did with Stella in the previous book.
Evelyn is a social media influencer who decides she needs a break from the hustle and bustle. Reminiscing on when she last was peaceful, she thought about the small town and Lovelight Farms. Returning to town without a plan, Beckett takes her in... Beckett, her one night stand from the past. Trying to find her happy is about to be that much more complicated, or so she thinks.
Beckett is one of Stella's right hand men helping out at Lovelight Farms. He took the job years ago after his Dad's injury and hasn't looked back. Focused on the job, he isn't looking for any type of female friendship. He's got his kittens, his sisters and the townspeople. Yet, that is all about to change when Evelyn pops back into his life.
In the Weeds takes readers back to Inglewild and the lovely phone tree shenanigans. Told in dual points of view, both Evelyn and Beckett get equal amounts of story time. While I loved Beckett's story more, I loved the little moments where Evelyn strove to find her happy. With little to no conflict featured, In the Weeds is a whimsical romance that will delight fans of small town romances. I'm so happy Borrison is getting recognized and her books placed in stores everywhere!
Y'all..... The prologue has it all. I want that. The best "romantic" scene that's not just straight "activity" I've read in a minute. Very well done. Comes out July 4th. You want to grab it immediately.Book two of the Lovelight Farm series with the yummy Beckett, man of deep silent thoughts and too many cats. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and this second one does not disappoint. Please note that these books were originally self-published and now are being republished by Berkley. Book 4 in the series will be new under the pub house. . I've had a few snippy comments that I'm reviewing older books. :( #netgalley #berkley #intheweeds #bkborison
This was also posted on various book groups on FB that I belong to.
This is the follow up to Lovelight Farms which I loved, and I think this was just as good.
This is a second chance romance between two opposites. This is also a book about finding yourself and finding happiness.
The heroine feels lost in the beginning of the book so she goes back to the last place she was happy. She's also a well known social media influencer. The hero is a grumpy farmer whose also a kitten dad. These two hooked up before the book begins but we get little snippets of their time together (which helped build up their romance). I felt the second chance romance worked well since they both couldn't get the other out of their heads (or hearts). It was super sweet and I loved how Beckett went about courting Evelyn.
This book also had a ton of humor. There were so many laugh out loud moments.
The narrator did a good job too. I liked how they told the story.
Overall very entertaining and enjoyable. Would recommend to any romance reader.
I received an ARC through netgalley. Thanks to the author and Berkley Publishing Group for the copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is the second book in the series. It can be read as a stand-alone (which I did), though I suspect it would have a better flow at the beginning if read in order.
The book follows Evelyn, a social media influencer, and Beckett, a Christmas tree farmer. Evelyn is burnt out and decides to spend time in the last place she was happy - Beckett's Farm. I felt a genuine joy in the interactions of Evelyn and Beckett
There is such a joy written into the pages of this book. I am planning on purchasing the first book to read, and preorder the 3rd book as well.
By no means is this an earth shattering or groundbreaking book. But it was perfectly pleasant and a nice interracial couple to read about. A second round purchase for most libraries.
