This was a fun read. Matchmaking momma's are the best. The characters are fun and interesting. It will be fun to see how all the characters will be effected by the efforts of the matchmaking momma's. It is also nice to learn about social reform of the time period.

An Unwitting Alliance was a delightful story, featuring Cassie and Tom as the main characters. Their meet cute was adorable, with some mistaken identity thrown in at a ball. The story progresses with an arranged engagement set up by their mothers. I loved watching them get to know each other. Tom's teasing nature was so fun, he was truly a joyful character.

A few parts of the story did seem to drag a bit, but overall, this was a lighthearted, entertaining story that I recommend for anyone who loves a good Regency romance!

Thank you to Covenant Communications, NetGalley, and Anneka Walker for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinions.

Another gripping installment in Anneka R. Walker’s Matchmaking Mamas Series! Tom and Cassandra are being forced into an arranged marriage by their parents. When they first meet, they realize they’ve met before at a ball where Tom cause an accident that ends with Cassandra injured. They work together to try to convince their parents not to force them to marry, and end up falling in love instead. Walker did a good job telling about Tom’s grief and talking about the workhouses of the time. I can’t wait to see which Rebel is next in the series!

Cassandra Vail returns home from ball where an interfering man embarrasses her while dancing. Returning home she learns her parents have betrothed her. Her intended is the son and heir to a barony and the bans are to read in two short weeks. Tom Harwood is light minded, enjoys a lark and good times with his friends. He is dutiful to his parents and is sure he can charm them into scuttling plans for him to wed soon. He is surprised to learn contracts have been signed and he expected to leave immediately to spend time with his intended at her family home. He arrives hoping to enlist her in schemes to stop the engagement. They are both shocked when they realize they met at the ball.

This is the second in the Matchmaking Mamas series and I’ve enjoyed both books. Tom mis steps more than once not considering how his fun actions impact others. But in their time together, friendship and fondness bloom. His friend group is The Rebels, who try to do good, even if it means breaking some rules. They are the basis for the romances in the series. In this one Tom is asked to check on a local workhouse that seems shady. It adds filler to the story and gives a reason for the Rebels to make an appearance.

I liked this clean Georgian romance. Cassie and her kindness towards her siblings and mother saves the story for me. Tom has the makings of a hero but his leaning hard on his charm to get his way doesn’t endear him to me. But it works for a story arc and you know deep down he is a good man. Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for the ARC and I will look for the next Rebel romance. I am leaving a voluntary review.

I am really surprised with so many great reviews. For me personally, the book did not grab my attention. It had a very interesting beginning and a great premise of the book but it had a lot of filler throughout it. The characters are not very well developed, as this seems to be part of the series. It refers to other people (and quite a lot of other people!) who add no value to the book on the stand alone. I guess if I were the fan of the series I would love to read the names of the previous heroines but now they just took the space.

None of the events were engaging, I kept skipping to focus on the main characters. His action before the ending made very little sense. This book cannot be read as stand alone.

If the author focused on the main two characters and developed them better, it could have been a great book.

Matchmaker mommas are at it again
A fun, engaging telling of two people fighting against an arranged marriage as they slowly realize it is exactly what they both want. Cassandra or Cassie Vail’s mother and Tom’s mother first met when Mrs. Vail unexpectedly went into labor on a trip to Bath and Tom’s mother helped in the delivery. Now, after keeping in touch for years, both mothers have agreed that their children should wed, the marriage contract has been signed, but Cassie and Tom are not in agreement with their mothers. Tom has determined to never marry and Cassie wants a choice in who she marries, so they decide to join forces to break the engagement despite the attraction they feel for each other. Mix in another unexpected delivery, a problematic workhouse, a fortune seeking beau, an unexpected thief, and an orphan in need of loving care and you have a fun read to enjoy. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.

A sweet predictable story where the hero and heroine fall in love despite their initial protests from their parent's interference. A side plot thrown in and some guest appearances from the characters in the previous story.

Unfortunately I felt almost like I was reading the first one all over again, otherwise it was enjoyable. I liked both characters Cassie was fiery but still very likeable and Tom was sweet.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC, opinions are my own.

An Unwitting Alliance by Anneka R. Walker

Tom has met his match.... He just doesn't know it yet.

Tom Harwood doesn't know what to do when his mother reveals he is to marry Miss Cassandra Vail. Both Tom and Cassie are against this engagement as they want to choose who they marry and not be matched by meddling mothers. The two decide to work together to end this engagement, but will they be able to?

With mistaken identity, matchmaking, and silly nicknames all wrapped together, this cute romance is definitely one I recommend. Give it a read!

The opening line had me, I instantly liked our MC :)

I enjoyed the meet-cute/disaster.
Overall, another fun, sweet regency romance.

This was an incredible story. The flow was great. The characters were relatable. I loved Cassie because she loved her family and had a great sense of humor. She was strong willed and struggled to be humble to accept what was good for her. She had to fight her demons to win her prize. I loved Tom. I loved the nicknames he gave people. He was very charismatic. And he made me laugh out loud a couple times. He is really genuine and he hides behind his charismatic nature so he doesn’t have to face or deal with the pain of losing his brother. They both had to give up a part of their pain to understand how to be together.

I loved this book. I’m excited to read more about the Rebels.

After their first encounter ends in disaster, Cassie and Tom are surprised to find themselves engaged thanks to their meddlesome matchmaking mamas. Too afraid lose anyone else in his life, Tom has avoided love and marriage. Cassie is determined that whoever she married will be her choice. Together they try to convince their matchmaking parents that the match they concocted will not work between them. But in the process they soon learn that maybe their scheming parents got it right!

What a fun and witty book. Cassie and Tom are perfection. I love to see their growth throughout the story as they learn to navigate love. I think one of my favorite things about this book is family! Both Tom and Cassie have loving parents and Cassie’s hoard of siblings are a delight.

I have not read the first book in the series and for the most part I didn’t need to to understand what was happening in this book. I look forward to reading more from this series and author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communication for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

While at a ball Tom meets and embarrassed a young lady and he doesn't even know her name. When he returns home his parents inform him that he is to marry and travel to meehis bride.
Cassandra is shocked to find that her parents have made arrangements for her to marry. What adds more to her shock, is to see the man who embarrassed her at the ballm is the man her parents have arranged for her to marry.
Cassandra wants nothing to do with Tom, until she sees how well he gets along in her large family. Tom gives each of her siblings a nickname and Cassandra finds herself changing her mind about Tom. This book was every bit as cute as the first book in the series Bargaining For the Barrister. 1

This Regency romance was super cute! Memorable and charming with a highly entertaining and unique plot.

Tom has no desire to wed. When his parents announce that they have signed a contract betrothing him to a woman he does not know, he travels to her home hoping to convince her to help him break the betrothal.

Cassandra has no wish to be married either, but when she meets Tom and realizes he is not a stranger after all, she is hurt and angry. As the two attempt to stop their impending marriage, they soon realize they may be perfect for each other after all.

What I Loved:
Regency era
Dual POV
Matchmaking mamas
Arranged marriage
Enemies-to-Lovers
Memorable meet-cute
Laugh-out-loud moments!
Characters who want to right wrongs
Reverse Grumpy/sunshine vibes
Hero with a hurtful past
All the flirting (Tom!!)
The kittens
Cassandra's family
The Rebels
The first kiss...both of them!

This story had me completely hooked and I honestly lost count of how many cute and flirty quotes I marked. Tom and Cassie were so perfect together, especially once Cassie puts aside her anger and stubbornness and Tom allows himself to heal. Sooo much tension and chemistry between them from the very first chapter!

This is the second book in a series but can easily be read as a standalone. And this may be, dare I say it, my new favorite of Anneka's books. All I know is I am excited to find out who the matchmaking mamas will target next!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but a positive review was not required.

So many great elements in this book! I loved Cassandra's huge family, the Matchmaking Mamas, the close-knit friend group, and of course, a plucky heroine!

Tom and Cassandra's marriage has been arranged, but neither of them want to be forced to marry someone. They want to marry for love.

When Tom realizes he is starting to fall for Cassandra, he is even more motivated to end their arranged engagement. He will only marry Cassie if it is HER choice.

This was a fun love story, moved quickly, and an easy read. So enjoyable!

I recieved a free ARC from netgalley, but all enthusiastic opinions are my own!

Thank you NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly, the things I loved. Adored Tom! Such a roguish sweetheart! Cassie is also awesome- determined and headstrong, although it doesn’t always work out well for her. Both have a strong sense of right and wrong, and both consider duty and honour important.

I don’t love the arranged marriage trope, and some of the dialogue was a little stilted and cringey, but overall it was a good read.

I did really enjoy the portrayal of close family bonds. Found family is one of my favourite tropes so I was so happy with little Alan’s ending, even though his life was so full of sadness and pain.

Some plot points were unrealistic, but it was very heartfelt and fluffy. A nice, clean romance with Christian undertones and morals.

The matchmaking mamas are at it again, arranging a match between Cassie and Tom, after a heated but ultimately disastrous first meeting. I liked the second half of this book way better than the first. The first 40% or so, I just didn't really like Tom, he was never serious. Some banter is good, but it gets tired after a bit. Thankfully, the book doesn't keep that tone all the way through. There are some real conversations that take place, and Tom reveals a good depth of character and growth. In the end, I quite liked him and the story. I received an ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for an honest review

I loved this book! The characters are so likeable. The meet cute of the two main characters was original and fun. Tom and Casandra are both stubborn, loveable and want marriage on their own terms. The matchmaking mamas however have them in their sites. I love all the side characters as well. This story is endearing. thrilling, romantic and hilarious. I would highly recommend it .

This was a sweet love story in the enemies-to-lovers category, although happily there was a minimum of arguing. I do enjoy it when a couple begin to communicate honestly, as early as possible in the story. Both characters were likable and easy to root for, and there was a strong sense of family affection that made for pleasant reading. There's also something just quirky and full of humor about an organization of "matchmaking mamas" who know much better than their offspring who would be well matched with whom.

I was so excited to see this book was coming out! This series is becoming one of my favorites. The characters are so fun and well matched, and I really enjoy learning more about the time period. I hope to see more of Tom and Cassandra sooner than later!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was hoping it would be as good as the first in this series - and it was! Possibly even just a bit better... which says a lot, because the first one was very, very good!
This author's talent shines again as she creates great characters, with interesting and engaging circumstances, some dramatic moments, and sweet, clean romance (with some nice kissing...)
The storyline was so well put together and flowed nicely. No boring parts at all.
I loved how Tom and Cassie were drawn to each other.
They each had past painful experiences and had to choose to trust each other.
I love the humor that this author weaves into her stories, as well as the drama.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but am not required to leave a good review!
My opinions are all my own. I genuinely loved this book and highly recommend it!
I encourage readers to read the first book in this series - Bargaining For The Barrister. It will set you up with a better understanding of who the 'Rebels' are, as well as the 'Matchmaking Mamas'
I am very much looking forward to the next in the series!!
