An Unwitting Alliance is the second book in the Matchmaking Mamas series though it could be read as a stand alone. At first the book started off slow and I wasn't entirely sure what to make of Tom. He was entirely too carefree for my liking and it was hard to relate to him in any way. But by around 40-50% done with the book he started becoming more real and it was easier to like him. So I guess I was about on the same page as Cassie was with him. I did love the entire Vail family and see Tom and Cassie's interaction with them. I also loved the side story that was happening with the workhouse and seeing how that would come to a resolution helped me continue on with the story. Overall I did enjoy the book and will continue to read this series from Anneka Walker.

I adored this book! The characters were engaging and it was so fun to jump back into this group of friends again. An Unwitting Alliance is the second book in Anneka R Walker’s Matchingmaking Mama series.
Tom was such a sweet guy! I loved getting to know him more. He seemed like a jokester but he had a kind heart. He deeply cared about those around him but he was scared to let others in. Tom had to learn to let Cassie in and he had to figure out how to show her he loved her.
Cassie was also a great character! She was full of life and she didn’t take no for an answer. She did have to grow on me a little but I ended up really liking her. She wanted to choose her own life path and she didn’t want to settle for anything else. Cassie had to learn to trust Tom and see that he was more than meets the eye.
Oh my goodness, Tom and Cassie were just wonderful. I loved reading about them interacting and falling in love. They were both against falling in love but as they spent more time together, they began to see each other in different lights. I loved reading about their interactions and seeing them match each other. They were a perfect fit. I loved how they made each other better.
An Unwitting Alliance is a must read book! The characters drew me in and I was curious to see how they would end up together. I loved the band of friends and how they came together to help teach others. I am super excited for the next book! An Unwitting Alliance is a clean historical romance.

I love Anneka Walker stories and was particularly excited to read this one because I adore the matchmaker trope. So many fun ways to have a matchmaker involved in a story. In this case, it was matchmaking mamas. The parents planned it all, signed the legalities and then informed the kids. That would be quite the shock.
I loved both Tom and Cassandra. I was going to say that my favorite thing about Tom is his nicknaming people but then I thought there are a lot of favorite things about him, so I am not sure I can pick just one. I do love him with his friends and their desire to right wrongs as a team. And he is a fun person even as he is dealing a great deal with grief.
Cassandra is far more serious. I found I relate to her simply because I am much the same as her. I enjoy being with people who are fun/funny but I'm not that much myself. I loved her determination, otherwise known as stubbornness.
There are some serious themes in the book but the story doesn't feel dark.
Entertaining read. Looking forward to the next one.

The matchmaking mamas are at it again. I had to laugh at how Tom snd Cassandra meet. Tom brings sunshine and joy to those around him. Cassandra is a fiery and very protective and loving to her fun and large family. The Vail family really brings depth to the story. Tom’s nicknames are great. Overall a captivating story with a heartwarming romance. I highly recommend this book.

AN UNWITTING ALLIANCE by ANNEKE R WALKER is a delightful Regency romance novel, with wonderful characters, invcluding the Rebels and the Matchmaking mamas that we have met in the first book in the series.
Tom Harwood and Cassandra Vail’s meeting at the Kellens ball is most unfortuate, and when they find that their parents have arranged their betrothal they are horrified. Tom is afraid of commitment because of losing his beloved rother Charley to consumption, and is afraid of losing anyone else he may come to love, and Cassandra does not want her parents choosing a husband for her. ….
The story is fasr paced and fun and it is altogether an enjoyable read.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Covenant Communications. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

Anneka Walker has done it again. I don’t know how she goes from writing a Stellar romcom then to writing a sweet and swoony historical romance. I absolutely adored this story. This is a book I won’t forget about anytime soon and will recommend everywhere.
