police procedural with a strong characters and the place where it set is nicely done too. Gripping plot that I found easy to read. I think this author should be more widely known in the UK and on panels! It would be great to talk to her about this book and the issues in it.

Will this is a pretty decent locale mystery. Quick and entertaining. The subplot of Jax nd Abby reuniting is romantic if a little trite. Easy trail to follow of two men murdered by a compound bow and what was their connection. My quibble with the author is the fictitious names of the coastal towns and bridges. Portland, Cannon Beach, and Longview are referenced but the Astoria Bridge is renamed and the Columbia River is nonexistent. POV, if an author is going to invent place names at least make them sound plausible. Misty Pines and West Shore? No!

Deadly Tides by Mary Keliikoa

Jax lost a child and hasn’t recovered. Abbey, Jax’s wife, hasn’t recovered either and the two join the ranks of parents who divorce after the loss of a child. Abbey is FBI and Jax is a Misty Pines sheriff. A missing surf shop owner and jealousy bring the two together in a manner that may heal their wounds or irrevocably drive them apart.

Kerliikoa has crafted believable characters with credible grief. Insecurity lies just under the surface in many apparently confident people. The walk in their moccasin’s adage is accurate. It is impossible to know what internal crisis motivates behavior. Can loss provoke unthinkable behavior in heretofore law-abiding reasonable people?

The book had abundant action, subtle treachery, rampant insecurity, and a suitably complex plot.

I recommend it.

This is my second Misty Pines novel. I gave the first one, three stars and I will do the same here. It’s a quaint, small town mystery, with a limited police force, so when it comes to investigating three murders, a break in, destruction of property, a theft, and a kidnapping, the small staff is spread thinly. It will keep you guessing. There is a lot of talk, a lot of talk, of the sheriff and his ex-wife FBI agent and their past troubles and their tenuous future together. Small town, rookie deputies but they all have big hearts and have the safety of its residents, as their priority. #NetrGalley,, #DeadlyTides, #LevelBestBooks. Thank you NetGalley and Level Best Books for granting this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I'm not usually a fan of starting books in the middle of a series. I started this book and enjoyed the story very much. I liked the characters. They were engaging, interesting, mysterious, honest, and compelling. I would consider continuing this series from the beginning. Until next time Happy Reading!

Deadly Tides is book 2 in the Misty Pines mystery series. I enjoyed reading it, although I don’t think it was quite as good as book 1. In the early titles in long-running series, you can see the author working things out, and I feel like that’s happening here. The series has promise for a long run of its own.

The author has sprinkled her stories with a number of interesting side characters, and in this book we even get a dog! The character interactions are good, and the setting is intriguing.

The sheriff’s FBI ex-wife gets herself into a bad situation at one point, and I was so relieved that she did not require rescuing but extricated herself. I will definitely be on the lookout for book 3.

I read an advance reader copy of Deadly Tides from Netgalley.

The book is compelling and engrossing. I love the characters in it. The beginning was mysterious. The truth about Sheriff Jax Turner and Abby’s relationship unveils and how the death of Lulu due to Leukaemia has torn apart their relationship. While Misty Pines has woken up but not in a good way. There is a blood pool but there is no trace of man. There are waterlogged clues but a deep conspiracy and secrets are hidden beneath the surface

Terry Chesney goes missing while the characters have such a poignant backstories. Jax and Abby got a second chance to reconcile their relationship but before reconciliation, everyone must be saved from the danger ahead.

Sheriff follows the trails to get to the bottom of the mystery and solve the gritty crimes. Misty Pines has turned into the deadly tide putting everyone’s lives at stake. Murders gets lined up and the killer is on the loose. The ending is twisted and filled with vengeance, shocking revelations and twists and turns. It is linked with the past. Though to get into the backstory of the main characters, one must read the first book Hidden Pieces. Loved this book even more than the first one.

Tropes:
•Compelling Writing
•Dual POV
•Homicide Investigation
•Lies and secrets
•Gritty Crimes
•Small town mystery
•Police Procedural
•Twists and Turns

Settings:
•Misty Pines
•Coastal Oregon

This is the second novel in the series and I must admit, I would have greatly benefited from reading the first one before this. There are a lot of characters to digest and this, for me, made it hard going at first.
That said, as a police procedural thriller Deadly Tides has all the usual ingredients and is undoubtedly very well written.
A good, comfortable read on a rainy weekend or a beach and one that won't disappoint if this is your genre.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Jax who is the sheriff receives many calls on a shift. When a person goes missing, he is left with little to go on. The more he learns, the more questions he has. This book kept me guessing until the end.

Deadly Tides seems a bit convoluted and has too many characters, but I did enjoy the small town feel and much of the investigatory achievements. Jax and Abby are good characters. I hope they get together again!
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.

Sheriff Jax Turner is trying to put his life back together after the death of his daughter and his divorce. However, he is trying to reconcile with his FBI agent, ex-wife Abby. Couples therapy isn't going as well as Jax would like and now they both have a murder investigation. Abby's involves a missing man and a foot that washed up on the beach, while Jax's involves a different missing man, a large pool of blood, and a dead homeless man in the woods. How these cases connect is quickly apparent and the murderer is relatively easy to figure out, long before the climatic confrontation in the woods. This is a second book in the series and while I have not read the first book in the series, the author supplies enough information from the previous book that it can stand on its own. I didn't love this, but it was an easy read.

This was my first read by this author and I was not disappointed. Police procedurals can get very drawn out and repetitive but this author writes in a way that will keep you engaged and wanting to read more. The twists were timely and unexpected.

Deadly Tides is the most suspenseful and twisty plot I have read all summer. Ms Keliikoa sets her mystery in the village of Misty Pines on the Oregon coast. She shows realinsight into the milieu of village life. The foggy, Misty coastal shroud is a continual factor in the big story. I have to admit I was not prepared for the final action and twist of the story. I recommend it highly to all contemporary mystery lovers. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC.

When an FBI agent's mother suffering from dementia is found cradling a human foot that has washed up on the beach, the quest is on to find out how this came about. Did the foot detach from the body of a suicide, or was it down to foul play. The thing is, this is not the first foot to have washed up on the beach?

The FBI agent''s ex, Jax Turner, soon finds himself embroiled in a mystery in which foul play looks to be more and more likely. The victim did have enemies who were jealous of his past achievements, as well as his plans for an ambitious new enterprise. Or it might have been local bad boys who had broken into his garage. Within a close-knit sea-side community there are skeletons in the cupboard to be discovered.

Meanwhile, Jax Turner still longs for reconciliation with his ex wife, where tragedy had torn them apart. Soon, there are signs that a very dangerous killer is on the loose. But what could be their true motive?.

This is a whodunnit, and does bring surprises and twists along the way, whilst looking into some aspects of the darker side of human nature. Definitely recommended for those who enjoy a good, suspenseful mystery thriller with characters that will draw the reader in.

Sheriff Jax Turner is back with another mystery. The second book in the series - has enough back matter to read as a stand alone. Jax is asked to do a well check on a famous surfer, he finds blood and no body. When Abby's mom finds a foot washed up on shore, the case gets more deadly. The small town police department may need some help and when Jax's ex, Abby, finds another foot, the FBI is brought in.
Good characters, lots of action and a few red-herrings. The reader may end up guessing right up until the end.

Thank you to Netgalley & the publisher for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review.

Deadly Tides is a fast paced non stop action packed hang onto your seat good storyline that has a unique cast of self serving characters each with their own agenda and reasons for their actions the author mask the killer's identity very well keeping you invested in the story and how the little side dramas would be resolved.
I received a advance readers copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I started reading this novel and quickly discovered that the writing style, the inaccurate modifying phrases and clauses, the shifting POVs, and the frequent sentence fragments did not appeal to me. The premise is interesting and if the writing were stronger, I would enjoy the read. I tried to continue but feel this book needs a great deal of polishing before it's ready for release. I was unable to finish the read and will not be reviewing it on any websites.

Sherrif Jax turner & his team have certainly grown on me & I read just 1 book before this. Deadly Tides was similar in suspense and really high in atmospheric chills & tension. Misty Pines might be fictional but I feel like I've walked through the dark forests with Jax because that's how powerful Mary Keliikoa's writing is. Although Jax seems to now be healing in many ways, his running away from his demons, juggling a high-demanding job & trying to put back together a broken family make him so human & realistic that I almost lost myself in the world of Misty Pines when I picked up this book. I loved every aspect of this book & although I shouldn't I tried guessing early on, on the who & why but I got it only half right. Even then this book was compelling! Plus now we have a new character! I cant wait to see what's next for Jax.

Thank you NetGalley, IBPA & Mary Keliikoa for this arc!
