This is a cute book if you like the kawaii style and want to draw dogs in it. Some of the breeds really look like the real breeds and some look nothing like them other than coloring, since this style really makes every animal look like a cute ball. Some of the dogs actually looked like cats, but some of them were surprisingly close to the real. You learn how to draw various breeds as dogs and puppies, though they honestly look the same to me. You also get examples of poses, moods, dogs in costumes and a few dogs as food items.

Each dog is shown in multiple steps to draw. They are pretty easy to copy. You should be pretty successful if this is a style and subject you’d like to learn.

I read a temporary digital copy of this book via NetGalley.

This is a good introduction to drawing with a focus on Kawaii dogs, although I will say that some of the dogs looked a lot like cats to me; and the puppies were pretty much the same as the dogs. That being said, the instructions are clear and well structured. I would say that this is for a novice drawer so a little bit more than someone who is just starting to draw or learning (i.e. not for young kids). It's easy to understand and there is a lot of content to choose from. I did kind of wish that some of the options for things like the poses and facial expressions were done for multiple breeds so you could get an idea as to how to adapt the breed to the pose. You do get multiple views of the same breed which is handy but ... As it stood, I wasn't always sure how to make that transition. Not impossible but still an addition that would have been appreciated or even a single example with explanations as to how to adapt it for the other breeds.

I really thought the Papillon and the Bull Terrier were super cute.

As a dog lover, I was so excited for this. I love to doodle and get crafty but my physical skills don't always represent what I create in my mind. However Kawaii Dogs turned me into a Kawaii professional and I hope they come out with many more Kawaii Animal series!

Thank you Olive Yong and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC copy of this fun book

The most adorable little book! The cute illustrations and easy to understand instructions reduce frustration experienced by untalented artists like me to the bare minimum. Wonderful!

What about Kawaii Kitties? I really need one as I am a cat mom at the moment. But let’s wait for that.

I love this Kawaii Doggies so much! How to draw for each dog breed! It’s so fun and easy. Each page is dedicated to one particular dog breed and I really appreciate it.

Love the presentation. It feels like my birthday and you will surely feel like this if you love dogs, love cute books, and easy to practice guidebooks like this!

Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point, for the advance reading copy.

I am not an artist by any means, however I still enjoy attempting to draw and doodle. This book is full of super cute dogs and is easy to follow. It makes it easy to draw even for someone who was not blessed with artistic abilities. There is a variety of breeds as well as different poses to draw the dogs in. Very cute drawings! This would also make a great gift. Easy enough for kids to use as well.

Thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group for a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a “Kawaii” (the Japanese concept of cuteness) book! It’s the 7th and latest in the series of drawing books of super cute and cuddly things and perfect for young artists (older doodlers, too). The step by step method makes it so easy to follow. In a few easy instructions, suddenly you have a sleepy bulldog or a smiley retriever. Also great for rainy days with Grandma who owns lots of paper and pens. This could also be a great basket stuffer at Easter time (near the publication date). I remember being SO impressed when my grandmother’s friend taught me to draw Bugs Bunny, but now my kids impress me with drawings of poodles (lots of poodles and doodle pups — guess what kind of doggies we have!) 5 stars! I’m going to look for the other books in this adorable series by Olive Jong (including “ Kawaii Kitties”.)

I absolutely adored the step by step guide. With the step by step drawings, I could easily follow everything so I could try it out myself. Really recommend this for people who are interested in learning to draw kawaii doggies in a well explained way.
