I really didn't like the way paige talked and so I wasn't really able to have fun with the story. Like the whole plot was fun but the main characters weren't enjoyable.

This book was so cute and the plot had me hooked from the very start! I absolutely loved paige and freddrick from the beginning and their relationship was everything. The cliffhanger at the end was a little unexpected and not my favorite however it makes me so excited for the sequel and all future books by Heather Garvin.

The worst part of this book is the fact that it ended on a cliff hanger. Besides that I absolutely loved this book. I absolutely could not put this book down.

Was a great summer read, with a BIG cliffhanger, which I hope will get answered at some point!
For a debut novel, I found it really fun and gripping and hard to put down. I was really impressed and really look forward to reading more.

I always love a good YA novel but I have to say I am not into modern day pirates.
It was cute book with suspense and drama. I recommend giving it a try if your in to this type of book.

Great story! It reminded me a bit at the beginning to Dawson Creek the serie. Is the perfect summer romance with an interesting twist. No spoiler here, but is a must read. Very easy read. Finish it in a day.

Take What You Can is a YA novel that takes place in Florida during the summer of 2003. Our main character, Paige Lawson, has just finished her junior year of high school and is ready to have a peaceful summer reading books and relaxing at the beach. She spends her first night of summer break at the annual beach bonfire where she meets Fredrick Pryce. He is mysterious (and gorgeous) and she can’t stop thinking about him, even after her best friend, Josh, tells her Fredrick is bad news.

This was a super fun and easy read! It was really fast paced and I read it in a day. (ps it ends on a huge cliffhanger, so you better have the sequel readily available 🙃) I rated it 4/5 stars. If you like YA novels with slow burn romance and a little suspense, this is a must read.

Please check trigger warnings. ♡

Thanks to NetGalley and Tuskan Publishing for the e-book to read and review.

This is my second book that I’ve read from Heather Garvin so far and this is a story you need to read if you love YA romances.

The ending had me in a chokehold and the suspense was everything!!

The book was okay, it is definitely meant for YA. I know I would have absolutely loved it in my younger days, but it's too young for me now.

Take what you can is a young adult novel. It's a story about love and friendship. It was full of action, angsty teenagers, lots of lust and humor. Frederick showed a lot of growth and Paige did change quite a bit.
I did not like that the book had a cliffhanger, I like my happy ever afters.

Trigger warning: assault

Paige was an interesting lead to have in the book. I'm not sure what it was about her, but I just couldn't fully connect. I struggled to really believe in her throughout the book which meant I found it hard to get into the story. Frederick had a bit more depth and darkness, and the romance was a clean one (no spice and appropriate for teenage readers) but as with Paige, something didn't quite click with me.

Ultimately, I wonder if maybe it would be better appreciated by younger teenagers and maybe that's why I haven't enjoyed it as much as similar books I've read.

Thank you to the Author Heather Garvin and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book and leave a review.

An excellent summer romance! With beach parties, good friends and a mysterious new guy, Paige is in the for summer of her life, even if her friends seem to think the new guy isn’t one she should spend time with. Come read to see what she decides!

I received a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a bit perplexed by this book's high ratings and overwhelmingly positive reviews. I think it has the bones of a good YA romance novel, but ultimately falls short of achieving any of its goals. The main character doesn't have a well-developed personality, and neither do the other characters, so it's hard to care about the plot. The dark and brooding love interest, with whom the main character has no apparent chemistry, is a big walking red flag - and not in a redeemable way. And maybe things start to come together later on, but the secret group that the guy is involved in doesn't make any sense. None of this is helped by the fact that the writing is pretty awkward and inelegant at times.

I think I would've enjoyed this book a bit more when I was a teenager, but even then I'm not totally sure. I would've liked to have read this story with more refinement.
