This was such a fun start to a series! I enjoyed it and I'm really excited to eventually read the next one.

There are a few moments where I was a bit lost but that may be due to my lack of prior information regarding angels and things.

I was fortunate enough to be gifted an ARC of Marked for Grace by kcharper_author. It is the first in a new series by K.C. Harper that falls in the Paranormal/Suspense Romance category. If you like the Hush, Hush series and the Shadowhunters series, this is the book for you.

The book started out with a strong introduction into the characters and the world we are about to dive into. Our main character, Grace, is an independent woman who is learning how to navigate a new world that has come along with understanding her abilities. She is not alone, as she has her ride or die, Noah, and manages to pick up a few love interests along the way. While love triangles are not my favorite trope in books, this one is slightly endearing. What stands out about this triangle compared to others is that the men are morally grey and this creates a unique dynamic between all of the characters. My only concern is that the voice of the characters came off as dated. They often used terms that would be unfamiliar to someone in their 20’s in 2023. Overall this is a solid first book with excellent world building and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Rating: 3.5/5

Thank you NetGalley for providing this e-ARC, all opinions are my own.

Sadly I DNFed this book at 40%.
The blurb to the story sounded amazing. Sadly this book was just not it for me. I think the plot idea is great, but I did not like any of the characters much and therefore couldn't build a connection to them or the story. For example, I don't understand how Crystal is a nickname. It just seems like a whole name change because the other character did not like Grace's actual name, which felt like an insult (to her name) to me. And that made me really uncomfortable with that character from there on.
Or Ben thinking that he doesn't like Grace living with her gay bestie, because he is a man. I feel like that specific line could have been left out, it made me dislike him very much pretty early on.
As well as the overall fixation on blood and what blood makes you. I personally am not a fan of this whole black and white look on something, like the blood telling you if you're bad or good. And Grace really jumped on that from the second she knew that her blood could matter in telling what she is/what she can do. Since she doesn't actually know too much about everything going on, I would have preferred if she would have been more open minded and not immediately jump to black and white conclusions. However, I can fully understand that the other characters who have known each other longer and have more information in general have very clear opinions and want Grace on their side. Of Course this could change later on and I just didn't get that far.

Besides all these points I do think others could really enjoy this book. The premise is great and if you enjoy this particular writing style this might be a great read for you. Grace's background story, like her job as a nurse, were really interesting and well done !

I loved this story! It kept me on the edge of my seat right from the first page! The story is filled with suspension, hot interactions and twists. I found the characters fun, sassy, and very lovable.

I just finished this book, and I had to get my thoughts down right away. First, the blurb really intrigued me, and I started reading it a little while after requesting it. A few pages in, I really wasn’t sure I was going to like it, but I kept reading because I saw lots of promise. Boy, am I glad I did! It got so very good, I didn’t want to put the book down. Grace, Jenna, Gideon…everyone is just so interesting. I thought I knew who the traitor was at one point, changed my mind, and I was still wrong. This was a very engaging book, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. A well-written, interesting, engaging urban fantasy that I can’t wait to read more of. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
