Oh how I adore this Christmas-themed series of books. Jacqueline Frost injects the perfect amount of Christmas merriment into a mystery filled fourth book in her Christmas Tree Farm cozy mystery series. I'm not much of an entire series reader but no matter how many Christmas Tree Farm books there are, I will read every single one. And you definitely should too!
I absolutely love the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series written by Jacqueline Frost. This is the fourth installment in the series and this book finds Holly White struggling to keep up with both a busy Christmas season at the farm and also the hectic planning of her upcoming holiday wedding to sheriff Evan Gray. When one of the ballerina's staying at her inn is found murdered on one of the town's holiday parade float Holly steps up to try to help solve the murder in order to keep her wedding and honeymoon on schedule.
This was a great addition to the series and many of the previous characters were also featured in this book. It was a fun quick read and I look forward to reading more books in the series.
Get ready to feel the Christmas cheer with the fourth Christmas Tree Farm mystery, Stalking Around the Christmas Tree. I don’t know about you, but reading Christmas cozies always lifts my spirits, especially when Christmas Karaoke is involved since I love singing Christmas songs! “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” (I watch Elf every year…) And I love it when Christmas cozies are set in small towns that go all out during the Christmas season. Set in Mistletoe, Maine, the Christmas Tree Farm mysteries fit the bill!
Though you can read this book without having read the prior three, I recommend that you do read them first. If you’re like I am, you’ll finish them each in a day or two, and you’ll enjoy seeing how the characters grow and how relationships develop.
Holly White’s family has owned the Christmas tree farm in Mistletoe for many years, and it’s a hugely popular place for tourists to visit during the holiday season. With its annual Reindeer Games event taking place each of the 12 days before Christmas, it’s a place all Christmas lovers would want to visit. I’d go everyday though there are some games I would definitely avoid since I’d probably break a leg. But I could go for some holiday bingo and blindfolded gingerbread house decorating. The main reason I’d visit though would be for the food and hot chocolate! You’ll love reading all about this event!
Holly has a huge support system in Mistletoe. Her loving parents are the kind every child deserves. Holly is the center of their world. Since returning home three years ago, she’s gained friends who have become like family to her. One such friendship turned into a relationship, and she and Evan are anxiously awaiting their Christmas Eve wedding. The characters in this series are well-written and a lot of fun! The interactions among them can be very hilarious at times. Of course, they all get involved when Holly “helps” the local authorities track down killers.
In this case, a ballerina has been murdered and Holly needs the case to be solved before her wedding! This mystery was well-plotted, and I enjoyed the secondary mystery involving Evan’s sister Libby. Following the clues along with Holly and her friends is always an adventure. You’ll enjoy the twists and turns in the mystery and wonder how in the world Holly can do everything she’s committed to do on the farm and for the wedding.
There is so much to love in Stalking Around the Christmas Tree, and I think all cozy mystery lovers will enjoy it as well as the other Christmas Tree Farm mystery books!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
It is Christmas time in Mistletoe, Maine and innkeeper Holly White is busy not only with her duties at the Reindeer Games Inn including her guests from the state’s ballet company but her upcoming wedding to Sheriff Evan Gray. She is also worried about Evan’s sister Libby’s odd behavior. As if that isn’t enough, when the lead ballerina is murdered, the investigation is taking up all of Evan’s time and Holly is worried that the murder won’t be solved before their honeymoon so she starts investigating the case. She has to hurry – the ballet company will soon be leaving town – but she also has to be careful that the killer won’t go after her next.
“Stalking Around the Christmas Tree” is the very nicely done fourth book in Jacqueline Frost’s Christmas Tree Farm cozy mystery series. I love everything about this series starting with the Christmas Tree Farm and the Reindeer Games Inn and the actual Reindeer Games that they play – I wish this existed in real life so that I could visit it! I also love the details of the upcoming wedding – the fact that it takes place at Christmas time makes it even more special. There are two mysteries in the book – who is stalking Libby and the murder mystery – both are nicely done but I did feel that at times Libby’s stalker plotline overwhelmed the main murder plotline. Having said that, the two do nicely tie-in together and add some unexpected twists and turns and red herrings to the mystery. In the end, I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for my next visit to the Reindeer Games Inn.

Stalking Around the Christmas Tree is the fourth book in the Christmas Tree Mystery Series. This is a great cozy mystery series, I especially love reading Christmas themed cozies and Stalking Around the Christmas Tree is delightful. I love the character development in this series - we started with Holly coming home with a broken heart and now she has found her true family. This story is a perfect holiday read, but it's also a pretty perfect Spring read as well. The characters are great, there are happy endings all around, and I'm wondering if Holly and Evan's honeymoon will be full of love or a mixed blessing of love and murder.

Three years after returning to her hometown of Mistletoe, Maine, we find Holly working as an innkeeper in her family’s tree farm, and about to marry Sherriff Evan Gray. Mistletoe has prepared for the holidays by enlisting the state ballet company to appear in a series of functions of “The Nutcracker,” in the hopes of boosting tourism and bringing business after a bad history of past murders occurred in town around the Christmas season.
When the company’s lead ballerina is found dead, Holly feels compelled to investigate. In the meantime, someone has been stalking Evan’s sister, who moved to Mistletoe after serving as a witness in a high-profile mafia case. Determined to find both, the stalker, and the ballerina’s killer before the company leaves town and before her upcoming wedding, her questions will only mean danger, with a high price to pay.
Thoughts:
I liked this cozy, holiday mystery. It is well-written and has an interesting, engaging plot, with a twist I could not predict. I liked that Holly is smart and self-aware, if sometimes a bit annoying with her endless questioning. We get a good dose of funny, caring characters, some of them with the promise of future development. It is easy to imagine the setting, the food, and the entertaining holiday games.
The fourth installment of the Christmas Tree Farm mystery series can be easily read as a stand-alone book, and I am glad I picked up this title from the author. If you are looking for an easy, cozy mystery read, this could be the book for you.
A 4-Star read for me.

Amateur sleuth/innkeeper Holly White, her whole family, her soon-to-be husband sheriff Evan Gray, and a whole lot of fun friends and neighbors live in Mistletoe, Maine, a town that is all things Christmas. The wedding is almost here and so is the big Christmas parade. But the parade is in trouble when the ballerina in the snow globe is found poisoned! There is an onging judicial matter going on as well, so things are busy for all the fun folks of this lovely town. Love the series and this one is a good read, too!

Loved this story that is about Holly and Evan's Christmas Eve wedding at the Reindeer Christmas Inn ,
As always there is a murder this time of year and Holly is the amateur sleuth and a good one she is. Besides that , there is someone stalking Libby. Evans sister. This is a VERY GOOD COZY MYSTERY. It is one of those that just as soon as you shows up and then guess what you didn't figure it out.
Another Amazing Christmas Tree Farms Mystery...these are my favorite books to read at the holidays and always puts me in the Christmas spirit and this newest book certainly did not disappoint! I have fallen in love with all the characters and love to read how they continue to grow! I have loved reading how Holly and Evan's love for each other has grown and now are getting married it is amazing to read about!!! I love how Holly goes about solving the mysteries and these books keep me guessing till the very end! I have thoroughly enjoyed all these books and hope there will be more to come!

First, I want to thank the author, Jacqueline Frost, and Crooked Lane Books for gifting me an advanced copy of STALKING AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.
Mistletoe, Maine, is a favorite fictional destination of mine. Jacqueline Frost sets a perfectly painted portrait of a town filled with and fueled by the Christmas spirit. So much so that, despite four murders all around the holiday in four consecutive years, I would still want to go visit. The story is filled with delightful details, from shops and scenery to wonderfully creative descriptions of holiday games and activities.
STALKING AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE is the fourth book in the series, and, like the previous three titles, there is much to like! As a fan of the ballet and The Nutcracker, I especially enjoyed those details. My one complaint, if I were to be incredibly picky, is that I found myself distracted by the dual plot lines focusing on the murder of a ballerina and Holly’s investigation into that and that involving Libby and the further ramifications of having testified against a dangerous criminal. I wanted more of Holly and Evan, I guess what the simple thing is! That noted, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and am very hopeful for more books in the series!
Holly is back! Love this series! No matter what time of year this is a delight to read! The mystery is solid. The characters are fun and interesting. The story moves smoothly. The reader feels like the characters are family. Keep this series going!! Thanks#netgalley and #Crookedlanebooks for the eARC in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are mine.
We are only a few months past Christmas but loving Christmas as I do I couldn't resist requesting this book. So glad I did as I loved it.
Murder, mystery, Christmas, secrets! Holly is at it again and solving crimes as best she can. Past characters return for more and Christmas must go on. This is everything I wanted it to be and more. I love the characters, the setting, the fact that it isn't predictable and kept me reading. It is fun and Christmassy and so easy to read.
A great read now and again at Christmas and one to enjoy no matter what time of year it is.
What a delightful cozy! This is my first time reading this author and this series. I love Christmas so I thought I'd give it a shot and I am so glad that I did.
The villagers are all friendly, warm hearted folks who genuinely care about people and who willingly help out at a moments notice. I've never had that but it sounds so nice.
I love the whole idea of a Christmas farm with the extra shops and games. I would absolutely visit this place.
Holly and her family are just wonderful. I could get totally wrapped up in this family. I will definitely be reading more of this series.
The mystery kept me on my toes, pun intended lol. I enjoyed the idea of a mystery around the theatre with ballerinas. Charming, absolutely charming.
I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publishers, and to Jacqueline Frost for the ability to read and review this lovely book. All thoughts and opinions are my own and completely honest.
Been sick, so this book and others kept me entertained during recovery. This series makes me want to visit a Christmas town even is the farm itself would make my allergies flare lol Like visiting old friends at the holidays, with fun, quirky characters, beautiful setting and a well written mystery to keep it interesting.
Coming back to Mistletoe, Maine, couldn't have been better. I've been waiting for this book ever since I binge-read the first three two years ago, and this story did not disappoint! Holly is getting ready for her wedding when the lead ballerina of The Nutcracker production (all of whom are staying at Holly's inn) is murdered before their Christmas parade.
I loved seeing Evan and Holly's relationship growth in this book and their sacrifices and love toward one another is the sweetest. Julie Anne Lindsay did such an incredible job weaving in wedding prep, Holly's job as innkeeper, her relationship with Evan, and a whole murder investigation together into a plot that is hot cocoa sweet! I loved this story and very much hope that the series will continue!
This is the fourth installment in Christmas Tree Farm Mystery Series. In this one, the ballet has come to Mistletoe to perform the Nutcracker. When the ballerina cast as Clara is found dead in a blowup snow globe during the Christmas parade, Holly has to help her fiancé, Evan investigate, after all, their wedding is in a few days on Christmas Eve. This installment was very interesting and kept my attention throughout. I love the setting of this book. I mean who wouldn’t love a town called Mistletoe that is in Maine and celebrates Christmas in a huge way. Holly is a great main character and she really cares about her friends. I would love to live in a town like this and have a group of friends like Holly has. The plot of this one was believable and well thought out. I was left guessing up until the end as there were many suspects in this one. There are actually two mysteries in this one. Holly has to figure out who killed Tiffany the ballerina playing Clara, and she has to figure out who is stalking Libby, Evan’s sister. Holly is tenacious and never gives up. I really enjoy this series and cannot wait for more.
Stalking Around the Christmas Tree is the fourth installment in the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series set in Mistletoe, Maine featuring Holly White and her family’s Christmas Tree Farm “Reindeer Games”.
This installment finds Holly trying to juggle all her commitments including wrapping presents for the toy drive, hosting her family’s annual Christmas farm games, keeping up with orders for her handmade jewelry business, writing her family’s Christmas cards, and hosting ballerinas from the touring Nutcracker play at her Farm’s Inn. All of this while preparing for her wedding to the love of her life Sheriff Evan Grey. The last thing Holly needs on her plate is another murder to investigate, but that’s just what she gets when one of the ballerinas is poisoned to death.
As a lover of the series, I was excited to immerse myself again into the magical Christmas world of Mistletoe. It’s like coming home for holidays to visit with old friends. The characters are funny and well written, and I love how the author enchants you with her detailed descriptions of Christmas time in Mistletoe. From the outrageous fun of the annual Reindeer games to mouthwatering sweets cooked by Holly’s mother at the Hearth. And to top it all off not only is there is a murder mystery to solve, but one of the beloved characters is in danger of her past threatening her future. There is a lot in this book to keep you hooked and speeding reading to the end!
I highly recommend reading the whole series, and I eagerly await future adventures of Holly and the Reindeer Games crew.
Thank you to NetGalley, Crooked Lane Books and Jacqueline Frost for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely love this series and was thrilled to see another released! An absolute perfect read to get you in the holiday mood. Please continue to write more!
Thank you netgally for the chance to read and review this one!
I enjoyed this book. I really like the setting and all the characters. I’m not that keen on the ballerina part, it was obvious that the killer is part of the troop as no one of the town people who have a reason to kill her. I also thought it was obvious as to why Courthey wasn’t posting. The wedding is great. #StalkingAroundtheChristmasTree #NetGalley
I absolutely love this series and always look forward to the next book. Mistletoe, Maine, is a place that I would love to visit, if not live there. From the minute you start reading, you're transported into this quaint little town with all the great and quirky people. If you haven't read this series, you don't know what you're missing..
