Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Stalking Around the Christmas Tree is the fourth book in the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series. As Holly, the main character, is preparing her wedding to Evan, the local sheriff. As one can expect, something out of the ordinary is bound to happen. One of the ballerinas performing in The Nutcracker gets murdered, which means that our main characters will investigate. This book is quite charming and will definitely put the reader in the Holiday spirit. The mystery is well written and will keep you reading and guessing. Nice, enjoyable read!
It had been awhile since I had read the original books in this series. I felt like the author did a great job of making sure you knew who people were as they came into the book. So I found it pretty easy to just jump back in.
This town is always so much fun. We got to see more of some of our beloved characters from the previous books. However we got introduced to plenty of new characters. It was a nice change of pace to the story to have the murder occur elsewhere in town. We still got to see plenty of the Christmas tree farm and the reindeer games!
I actually guessed the twist pretty early into the story. Whenever I read a cozy mystery I’m always thinking of theories as I read. I don’t feel like it took away any of my enjoyment of the mystery even though I guessed it right.
I’ll definitely be continuing this story. I can’t wait to see the married life for the Sheriff and Holly. I like the little bit of collaboration between the two of them in their investigations. I would love to see even more in future installments. I wish the romance in the story was bumped up just a little bit more as well.
This was just so darn good! I'd missed this series so much and was hoping somehow there'd be a fourth book eventually (it's been 2 years since the last one, but in Mistletoe, Maine, it's only been a year), and there was! I was over the moon to find out this book was a reality and it definitely didn't disappoint! Not. one. bit.
Evan and Holly were schedule for their happily ever after on Christmas Eve night, but when a lead ballet dancer was murdered, the couple knew neither would sleep right until the perp was caught. Then there was a good side mystery involving Evan's younger sister, Libby who'd been living in Mistletoe now and working at the farm's Hearth café. It appeared she had a stalker of some sort.
The author did a really good job of updating what'd happened since the last book and even hitting the highlights of the first two mysteries too. It'd add to reading enjoyment though if these books were read in order even though nothing's ever spoiled that I remember.
What an awesome showdown with the killer and dangerous for poor Holly, but her people were right there for her. And Libby's case got a super satisfying ending as well...wait'll you see who all helped with that showdown! And the wedding...what can I say? It was awesome!
I really hope more books are planned for this series. I do remember reading the author's newsletter when she got this one contracted but beyond that, I guess we can only hope! Evan and Holly are a great team and I'd sure love to see things shake out just as well for Libby and Ray...and now that Caroline found a nice guy too. Oh hey another thing I loved about this series--the main character actually got married before her bestie!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by Crooked Lane via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.
I loved visiting Mistletoe, Maine for another Christmas. We got to see some reindeer games and a blizzard as well as a wedding. I loved the Christmas feel of this book! The wedding is a good payoff for Holly and Evan. It was so good to see everyone coming together to help them.
The mystery was interesting. The first time we see the victim, Tiffany, is when she is dead. Then we learn about her as they investigate. It was a bit hard to keep some of the ballerinas straight, so I was never quite sure which of them was a suspect. The murderer made sense in the end. I also liked the stalker mystery and how Evan's sister had to work through that.
Amazing setting, wonderful characters, and pretty good mystery.
Stalking Around the Christmas Tree is the fourth mystery in the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series. Holly White is the inn keeper at Reindeer Games Inn and with Christmas and her wedding fast approaching she already has a lot on her plate. When murder strikes and her fiancé, Evan the local police detective, is pulled into another case, Holly takes it upon herself to help him get to the bottom of it so nothing can interrupt their big day.
I love this series and am always excited to see a new mystery coming out! I really enjoyed this book and loved seeing the gang again. This series is full of fun characters, Christmas themed games and cheer and mysteries that are fun to get lost in. I didn’t want to put this book down and found myself guessing until the very end on who the killer was. I am so glad that this book included Holly and Evan’s big day and I can’t wait to see what comes next for the budding romances between some of the other characters. If you haven’t experienced this series yet, I definitely recommend picking it up! I can’t wait to see what will come next I’m this series and will be eagerly waiting for the next Christmas themed cozy featuring Holly!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book!
Stalking Around the Christmas Tree by Jacqueline Frost was as fun as a murder mystery can be. It is Christmas in Mistletoe, Maine and especially at the Christmas Tree Farm known as Reindeer Games. Everyone is is high spirits as Holly and Sheriff Evan are to be married on Christmas Eve. Thankfully, Caroline had taken over the planning of the wedding so all Holly had to do was what she was told. On top of that, Evan had his share of tasks for which he had willingly volunteered. The games were going well and the inn was full of ballet dancers, here to perform The Nutcracker, paid for by the city. The games were cute and Evan was charming and all was well in Holly’s world. As she was meeting Evan to watch the parade, a cacophony of voices rose from the parade route. The start of the ballet, Clara had been riding in a giant snow globe, but something had happened and she was now lying dead on the float. Oh no! The fourth Christmas in a row that had seen murder in Mistletoe. This couldn’t be, as everybody clicked into gear to solve this beastly crime.
This is such a fun setting for a cozy. Holly is the ideal heroine and Evan is the perfect mate for her. Caroline is nothing but driven and humorous and a wonderful host for her YouTube show, Merry in Mistletoe, on which Holly’d mother was to be a guest, demonstrating how to make Whoopee Pies. It was all just perfect. Libby was Evan’s sister and had moved to Mistletoe after testifying against a mobster in Boston. The man had precipitated her best friend’s death and was in prison, but now someone was stalking Libby and frightening her. It was all too much, this particular week, especially. Both mysteries were good ones, and solved by old-fashioned sleuthing. It as such a fun read. Merry Christmas!
I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Stalking Around the Christmas Tree by Crooked Lane Books, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #CrookedLaneBooks #JacquelineFrost #StalkingAroundTheChristmasTree
Holly White, who runs the Inn at her family's farm, is juggling a lot this Christmas. She has an inn full of ballerinas who are in town for several performances, and one of the ballerinas has been murdered. On top of that her soon-to-be sister-in-law has a stalker, AND she is marrying her Sheriff boyfriend Evan on Christmas eve!
I love this series and it's always so fun to get to check with all the great secondary characters, Cookie Cutter and her goat Theodore, Caroline, and Mom & Dad White. It was a great mystery. I loved the major red herring and all the twists and turns of the story. There were several great suspects, and it took to the end to figure it out. This book was a like a warm hug!
I hope this not the end of the series and we will get to visit Mistletoe, Maine, again!
Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for allowing me to read this book and give my honest opinion.
Murder, romance, and a dose of the holidays merge together in Stalking Around the Christmas Tree.
Set in Mistletoe, Maine, the setting just oozes holiday cheer. It's a magical place with all the feels of a typical small town where it seems like everyone knows everyone. Only, they seem to be on a streak of catastrophes (in the form of murder!) that threaten the town's tourism at a time of year they depend upon it.
Holly is an amateur sleuth engaged to the sheriff. They both end up investigating and sharing what they find as they seek to find the murderer.
This cozy mystery is the fourth book in the Christmas Tree Farm Mysteries. I have not read the others and did not feel it was absolutely required.
Thank you to the author, Crooked Lane Books, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is always such a delightful and festive series that I look forward to reading. Mistletoe, Maine is filled with shops and activities to celebrate Christmas. Holly White (an apropos name for a resident) and her parents own the Reindeer Games Christmas Tree Farm and Inn where tourists and residents can get a tree, play reindeer games, eat some yummy goodies, and stay in a lovely setting. Holly and Sheriff Evan Gray are getting married Christmas Eve, the Maine Ballet is in town performing The Nutcracker, both on top of the usual festivities. And there are two mysteries to solve. The top ballerina for the role of Clara dies on her parade float and someone is after Evan's sister Libby. And Holly wants to solve the murder so that nothing will hinder her wedding and honeymoon taking place. And of course, she puts herself in danger. Will the wedding take place and both mysteries get solved? I really like Holly and Evan as well as the other regular characters and the setting is lovely. Highly recommended for those who enjoy holiday reads with a twist of mystery.
I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts.
Loved this one!! It’s the fourth one in the series and they just keep getting better. The author is always great about giving us all the details even down to the tiny ones that make the books come to life. Now that it’s the fourth book, it feels like visiting a friend. If you enjoy audiobooks as much as I do, I highly recommend listening to the series as the narrator is the best!
It’s another Christmas season in Mistletoe, Maine, but it’s not just any Christmas season. Evan and Holly’s wedding day is approaching! Mistletoe is also excited to be hosting the state ballet performing the Nutcracker. The mayor hopes that this will bring good press to the town after being 3 for 3 for the last season’s having a strange murder in town. When everything was looking positive, the unthinkable happens and the lead ballerina is found dead in a float during the Christmas parade. Holly is determined to not have this ruin her wedding day so she gets back to her old sleuthing ways to help her future husband solve this murder. At the same time, Evan’s sister, Libby, might be dealing with a person from her past causing a dangerous and nerve-wracking situation. With the holiday coming near and winter weather bearing down, there’s only one thing for Holly to do and will she be able to do it all in time.
I am not sure if this will be the last in the series, but hopefully not. It definitely could wrap up neatly with this one, but Evan and Holly’s life is just beginning together so maybe there will be more adventures with them. I did like how the some of the past plots came into play as well. This was not my absolute favorite one in the series, but none the less, it was a delight and so glad I was able to read this one already.
Thank you @netgalley @crookedlanebooks and @Julieannelindsey for the advanced copy for my honest review. This is one is out today! I definitely recommend getting to the first 3 books, but once you start the series, you’ll want to keep going.

Stalking Around the Christmas Tree is book #4 in the Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series by Jacqueline Frost.
This is the first book I’ve read but I was able to follow along fine. I do want to read the rest of the series to see how relationships have developed through the series. I love the location of a Christmas tree farm in Mistletoe, Maine. The characters (most of them) are great. This was a fun Christmas mystery and I look forward to catching up on the earlier books.
Thank you to the author, Crooked Lane Books, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Stalking Around the Christmas Tree is the fourth book in the Christmas Tree Farm series, but only the second I've read. I quickly remembered who was who but may have enjoyed it more if I had read more of the books in this series. I couldn't resist the cozy setting of a tree farm in a small town called Mistletoe, Maine!
The main character, Holly White, must solve the murder of a visiting ballerina whose body is discovered during the annual holiday parade. Holly finds a few different suspects, but has to get to the truth, hopefully before the snowstorm approaching the town hits. The pace of the story stalled a bit for me in the middle, but I still enjoyed this fun holiday mystery. I would rate it 3.5 stars.
I received a copy of this ebook at no cost from NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.
In the town of Mistletoe, Maine, one will encounter a place that even Hallmark is outdone in its Christmas festivities. Holly, who runs the Reindeer Games Inn on her parent’s property, while her mother operates the Hearth Cafe and her dad runs the Christmas Tree Farm are triplely busy this Christmas because Holly is marrying the local sheriff, Evan, on Christmas Eve. A special event is being held this year in Mistletoe with the state ballet company doing several days of The Nutcracker with several of the company staying at Holly’s Inn. To spice things up further, the lead ballerina is found dead on the parade float. Holly needs to find the killer before the company leaves town. Evan’s sister presents another problem that needs to be resolved before the wedding. What could have been a real disaster for Christmas and the wedding is the great friends that Holly and her family have to step in and create a very special week in Mistletoe. While this is the fourth book in The Christmas Tree Mysteries, this book can stand on its own but if you haven’t read any of the other books in the series, you will want to devour those as well. A warning: you might be tempted to get an early start on your Christmas cookies baking. Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for an advanced copy of this book; this is my honest opinion.
This is the fourth book in the Christmas Tree Farm Mysteries. I haven't read the others and still thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery. Taking place in Mistletoe, Maine on a Christmas tree farm sounded perfect. Holly is the Innkeeper at Reindeer Games Inn and about to get married to the town sheriff. There is the upcoming Christmas parade and the state's ballet company is in town to perform. Well during the parade, the top ballerinas is found dead! Now Holly is on a mission to solve the crime. This is what you would expect from a cozy mystery, along with all the Christmas vibes, decorations, treats, backdrop. The locals and main characters were fun and lively , the mystery was good, and it gave me that happy feeling!
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own. My review will be posted on Instagram, Bookbub, Goodreads, and Amazon once it publishes
I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, but I’m so glad I picked up Stalking Around the Christmas Tree. There is a strong sense of family and community in Mistletoe, Maine.
I like Holly White. I think it’s lovely that she is set to marry Sheriff Evan on Christmas Eve.
The mystery is an interesting one. I didn’t figure out who murdered the lead ballerina in the Nutcracker. I do agree with Holly that masks and full head covering costumes are creepy.
I like all the secondary characters - Libby, Ray, Caroline, Evan and Holly’s parents.
I think this can be read as a stand-alone as that’s what I did and I didn’t feel lost.
I’m happy to recommend Stalking around the Christmas tree.
I both read an ebook and listened to the audiobook. I like the narrator.
Thanks to Netgalley, Crooked Lane Books and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to review this story.
This festive cozy mystery has everything that I love about them - a smart & spunky main character who gets herself into some situations, interesting and loving friends and family, and a sweet small town where all of the murders take place. This is #4 in the series, but the first that I've read. It worked well as a standalone, although I am interested enough in finding out how the characters got where they are to read the first 3. And I'll definitely continue with the series as more are published! Thanks to Netgalley and Crooked Lane books for the advance digital copy!
For a Christmas lover like myself, the joy of living in a little town in Maine called Mistletoe is dreamy. Holly White and her family own a Christmas tree farm and the Reindeer Games Inn where it is Christmas everyday. The sound of bells ringing this Christmas are more than Christmas bells, as Holly is about to marry to her dream man, Sheriff Evan Gray. If you have read any of the books in this series, you know the story would not be complete without a mystery to solve.
The state ballet company is in town to perform The Nutcracker, and they are staying at the Reindeer Inn. Everything is going well until the lead ballerina collapses on a Christmas float during the parade and dies. It is quickly determined that she was poisoned. Evan knows that it will do no good to tell Holly to keep out of the investigation because she cannot help herself. In the cutthroat world of entertainment, the suspects are many. The mystery deepens further when we learn that Evan's sister, Libby, is in danger as well. So, we actually have two mysteries going on at one time.
I adore the characters in this book and this series. Their small community acts more like family than just neighbors. One of Holly's best friends, Caroline, is convinced that a local man named Christopher is actually Santa Claus. You never know. He does live in Mistletoe. The wonderful setting with snow everywhere and Christmas everywhere makes my heart beat a little faster. The mystery is perfectly paced and clues are scattered throughout, but it is not an easy one to solve. For fans of this series, we have been waiting patiently on the wedding. It could not be more appropriate than to happen at Christmas on a Christmas tree farm. I just love this series and everything that goes with it. You can read it as a standalone, but I would highly recommend that you read all of them. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Holly is busy with Reindeer games and getting ready for her Christmas Eve wedding.. A special feature this year is a ballet performance leading up to Christmas. When the lead ballerina is found dead inside a snow globe during the parade, Holly begins to ask questions. I loved this story back in Mistletoe, ME. The subplot of the stalker added to the mystery and suspense. Well thought out plot and a wonderful ending made this story truly enjoyable.
I’m sitting in bed with tears in my eyes from reading the sweetest ending. 🥲
If you haven’t started this series yet, I urge you to pick it up soon. Jacqueline Frost -AKA the lovely Julie Anne Lindsey- has done an amazing job with these books. The town of Mistletoe is such a heartwarming place, the characters feel like old friends, and the mysteries are complex enough to keep you guessing.
